Portland-Fairview Rv Park

Simply awful. The managers Fred and Janel are two of the least nice people Ive ever encountered managing a business. Short, rude, inconsiderate and uncompassionate. These miserable people are perfect for this miserable little park. Ridiculously loud and frequent trains. Six feet over my head from where I slept. On and on…

We arrived in our travel trailer and were assigned a narrow back in spot on the upper level next to HWY 84 (NOISY!!!). The purpose of staying in this RV park was to visit our kids & g. Kids who had recently moved to the Vancouver area. Our truck would not fit in its assigned space next to our rig so parked as close as possible off the road. At 9:00 PM the «traffic cop» came by and made us move the truck. We were traveling with our 2 little dogs; there are no poop bag dispensers anywhere and very little doggie walking areas. There was even a doggie cop who reminded me that the hot pavement would hurt my dogs feet. Like DUH! G. kids came to visit with their roller blades and a bike. NO NO! Too many NO NO rules makes for NO fun. Not a kid friendly park and not a friendly staff. Trains, cars and under the Portland airport traffic pattern all added to a very unpleasant stay. Only positive I can think of is the place is clean. By the way, it appeared to me that the RVers who were there on a longer term basis were exempt from the «RULES.»

Huge park, but the service is appalling, this is our 5^th rv park in a week but the only one where the check in office closes for lunch, ie check-​in time, so how the heck do we know the bathroom/​laundry codes etc, the only time we saw anyone was when they were throwing you out the pool, also pointless offering wifi if it cannot be connected. More business than pleasure.
Thanks for responding, we arrived at 12.55pm on Sunday, the office was «closed for lunch» and the two hostess signs showed «off duty»…

The rules at this place are unbelievable. You aren’t allowed to do anything. They run this park like a police state. They are on constant patrol. They don’t listen to you when having a discussion (talking to you Red Hat Guy). IMPORTANT! If you have kids… it is the MOST kid UNFRIENDLY park we’ve been to. Holy cow these people don’t like them. This is an only «must go» place if there are no other options for you. FYI: If you want a pull through, make sure you tell them when reserving that your rig is around 28 — 30 feet or they will put you in a back-​in spot. I tell you this because I know they don’t read these reviews or they would try to fix their problems. Wow, we’ve never been treated so poorly. Good luck if you go here. Terrible management. My opinion only based on my brief experience here.

Would have given this place 5 stars but the trains drove me nuts. Very loud, the wheels squealed really loud. High pitch grinding all night and day.
The park is beautiful, very clean and people are very nice. The spots are very big, which is great because our RV is 45 feet long.
I don’t mind the sound of trains but these were very high pitch grinding and squeaky.
We would stay here again but next time much farther away from the tracks.

Most unwelcoming management. The office folks are great but upper management is rude and unyielding. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone who wants a carefree experience.
Sprinklers came on at 1pm and watered my chair and dog (she hates the water)!! Someone could have warned me.

We stayed here for 4 nights in our 40 ft motorhome. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. We also travel with our dog and had a pleasant experience. The park was clean well-​maintained.

Our Motorhome club has been going there for 3 years over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend with 10 Coaches. We use the club house for member gatherings, meetings, socials & dinners. We will not be able to return in 2015, because a long term resident of the park has the Clubhouse reserved for Thanksgiving. So we will be going elsewhere. We felt the management would contact us before reserving to another party. We were wrong. it is time for a change…

Wonderful place to park your RV for short or long period!!! We stayed at that park and we liked it a lot!!! Before that we drove and saw different rv parks and we liked that one the best! A lot of space between RVs and lots of trees around!!! Great management, nice people, lots of roses, wifi, swimming pool and so on

Very nice and clean park. Reasonable price, good for big rigs. Wide spacious spots. Close to the Columbia River Gorge and Portland. Level concrete pads with grass, tree and a picnic table. Close to interstate but yet quite.

Stayed six days on the top level of three levels. Well maintained park and visually appealing. The down-​side is it is such a large park with a lot of full time residents. They create quite a bit of traffic going to and coming back from work. The diesel trucks make quite a bit of racket when they go up the three levels and being at the level closest to the street, we found them more annoying than the trains on the bottom level and the overhead planes to nearby Portland Int. My grand daughter and I were popped for riding after dark even though we had lights as we were told it was against park regulations. I can live with that for safety reasons. I saw some other kids that were scolded by park supervision for riding out of sight of their parents. I have been to dozens of parks and kids always ride the park. That’s why families camp in RV Resorts as they are a safe place for kids to let loose a little. This was a little overboard. I think this rule exists as this resort has so many full-​time residents. We had a problem with cable and it was so bad we couldn’t even use it. I spoke to someone in the office and they said they would look into it. No one ever contacted me about it and I never tried it again while I was there. Even if we weren’t around a note left would have gone a long way. Fortunately I was able to lock onto one satellite and watched those channels. Being ignored on a legitimate complaint is not acceptable and hence the three stars instead of four.

Beware with bringing dogs there are only a few locations where they are allowed. Management get after you if they go on someone’s supposed front lawn. I would find another place next time.

Stayed here for 1 night while traveling through town. It is a very nice clean park. Very big. The ability to maneuver around was good, getting into and out of the park was don with relative ease. The spaces are spacious, the amenities are good as well. The staff seemed to be a bit snippy though. I would stay here again despite the snippiness of the lady that we dealt with. It’s right off the highway, easy to get to.

The park is very clean (laundry, showers, common area) and there are a limited amount of activities that the park offers … it isn’t a resort, nor is it advertised as such. You can catch the 21 bus and 12 bus to get into Portland center city in about 40 minutes of an easy bus trip.
The area is multi-​level separating the transients from permanent. There is an airport nearby so it can get noisy from 6:30 am on.
What I would improve would be the help at the front desk. Although nice they didn’t know the bus routes, the nearby shopping and in general were woefully uninformed about Portland in general. These are the first people we use to help us get around an unfamiliar city. The office did have pamphlets and information about transportation but it would be nice to have informed people at the front desk.
Another issue i have with this park is the cable TV. It did not come in clear so we asked about it. They told us that they were aware of this problem and chose not to do anything about it. That type of answer is not acceptable.
You really don’t have much choice about Portland. It’s a big city and thus not many close by RV parks. This park is on public transportation and if you figure out the bus schedule it is quite convenient.

Just spent a week at this Rv park. They put me in a section of the park all by myself. It was also right near the highway (noisey). They advertise that they have a hot tub. What a joke its outdoors you have to take the cover off yourself to use it and they keep it heated to 99 degrees (really?). When I complained they stated that it was a family park and they weren’t allowed to have it any hotter then that. The woman in the office actually said this with a straight face. An outdoor hot tub at 99 deg has zero theraputic value. Basically its useless. I never saw anyone use it the whole week I was there. The park is clean and well maintained but I won’t go back unless there are no other options. They are also the most expensive park in the area.

Wow, what a terrible experience we had with this place. I checked the website and it seemed okay, my wife called and they said they had space, and only asked how long our RV was. So we drove a ways to get there.
As soon as we pull up, the woman asks what year our camper van is. Well guess what, they have a «corporate policy» not to let in vehicles a certain age — doesn’t matter if it’s in perfect condition, or a classic restored RV, or anything else. No. And it’s not like our RV is even that old. So we asked why she didn’t let us know on the phone, she said, well she didn’t think we were going to come in. No apology, nothing. So we nicely tell her that we drove a long way and it would have been very helpful to know this beforehand. She just said «sorry». In a way that was very very clear she was not the least bit sorry. And then just stared at us. And by the way, the website does not say (at the time I’m writing this) anywhere that there is a year restriction at this place. I find the restriction pretty disgraceful, but the lack of informing people on their site and on the phone is even more evil.
Fortunately we found a place a few miles down the road where the woman was incredibly helpful, kind and the grounds were great, and we got a beautiful spot right on the banks of the river.

This is a very clean RV park, but when you call to make a reservation they ask the year of your RV. I wonder why they do that? They have plenty of open spaces and yet they act as though they have limited spaces. Makes you wonder if they are discriminating. The restrooms are old and not handicap friendly; especially the showers and doors to enter public areas. The road adjacent to the park is very busy even at night. Be prepared to keep your AC running to drown out the road noise. I would give this place 5 stars if they would eliminate their issues, but I can’t justify 5 stars!

So sad!!! My uncle checked into this place and quoted a price he thought was fair. He stayed at this place back in 2005 at that time he owned a $ 200k coach and drove a convertible Porsche. Everything was ok! Now he lost almost everything due to hard times and owns an older motor home! Management told him it was a mistake after allowing them to stay for a short time and changing there mind to say they made a mistake in the price that was quoted! My uncle said that’s fine can we stay for another day until we find another place! The manager said no called him a gook! Also called the police and had him escorted off the property! It’s sad and unfortunate we as people are treated according to our skin color and what we have or don’t have? So sad!!!

I would avoid this place at all costs. I arrived there with my «teardrop» camper, and was turned away because, as the managers explained, «there is a city ordinance which forbids us from letting in RV’s that are not equipped with a «black water» tank.
As a retired attorney, this story immediately struck me as «fishy». So… I checked with the city of Fairview and… surprise…there is no such ordinance.
If they had just said that they don’t like «teardrops» in their Park, I might have accepted that. But it’s the outright lying that upsets me.
I was able to find another RV Park a short distance away from Portland Fairview. NONE of the campers at this other RV Park had a nice thing to say about Portland Fairview… the comments ranged from «snooty» to «rude».
When I’m camping, as I do for three and a half months every summer, I want to stay at a friendly place that welcomes me… Portland Fairview is definitely not that place.

After starting out at the Columbia River RV Park in Portland, we decided to find a park that had more room and wasn’t so busy.
The park is quite lovely, with varying elevations and smaller sections of the park separated off by trees and landscaping. The grounds are well maintained, and almost every site has a flowering bush and/​or tree with soft green grass and well-​cared for picnic tables.
There is an activity center, a pool and clubhouse at the front, but honestly we’ve never even checked it out. There is a workout cabin in the middle of the par surrounded by a lovely flowing stream and pond.
This was our first experience having someone do a background check on us and it was the most paperwork we’ve ever signed to move into a RV park for a month, but we like it here. It’s a good 15 minutes into Portland, but it’s also well laid out, quiet, and people are nice and respectful. Oh, they do expect you to keep your rig as well as your vehicle clean at all times.
We stayed here for one month in a motorhome. We will be back.
Tip: you probably don’t want a space near the train track, but it’s not as bad as you might think. The park is in a no blow zone (no train horn), so all you hear is the train going by and only if you are outside.
6÷14÷12: Updating as this is our second time to stay here. It is now spring and we are back in Portland. The park is even more beautiful than before as everything is blooming. Our cats are quickly adjusting to being on leashes again (though they still don’t like it much). We are parked in the back of the park this time (not far from the train) and we are very happy. You would be surprised how little you notice the train going by.
I wanted to update as I went back and read some of the other reviews. Several people talk about the manager, Fred, as being a jerk. Well, maybe he is, but I don’t think so. This is a large park, with a lot of people in it. As a former property manager myself, I know what it is like if you don’t make people adhere to the rules. You let one person slip and everyone else notices and follows suit. Pretty soon you have a crappy place on your hands. Perhaps because of his ‘jerkiness’ this park is a wonderful display of how good management can make a park shine. Personally, I think all the staff does a great job and while they may be strict about rules, the condition of the park shows what they do is working.
If you want a really nice park to stay at, this is the best we have found in the Portland area. It’s a shame so many see strict management as a downside. Go visit some of the other parks in town and make your own judgement. We like it here.
