History
Established in 1998.
Co-owners Jim and Mary Stamper are your hosts, a rarity these days of chain operated places. Jim and Mary worked for more than twenty years at the Tam O’Shanter Inn in Lakewood during which time «the Tam» became one of Lakewood’s most well-known and successful neighborhood bars. Jim may best be known for his appearances at Cleveland Indians home games with his «Muscle Wahoo» signs. (Check out the «Muscle Wahoo» painted behind our stage.)
Although we’ve been open since November 3, 1998, our craft beer program began in 2009 and has grown every year. Jim and Mary’s son Jimmy has spear headed the development of craft beer at Stamper’s and works closely with Chef Thaxton.

I believe great beer and food should be more readily available and accessible to people on a daily basis, instead of primarily in expensive bistros where it would be rare to dine in more than once a week for most people. That’s why we offer excellent homemade comfort food and bistro type meals for very approachable prices, and we bring in the best craft beer this country has to offer along with some Belgian gems – and throw in some great live music to go along with it. American craft beer keeps getting better and better, and there’s a lot of it. At Stamper’s we make sure our draught list is unique to the neighborhood, and offers our customers choices that they won’t find elsewhere. We hope you’ll stop in and see what’s new at Stamper’s!
