Bocaccini’s Italian Bistro & Bar

While the décor is a bit dated, the food, service, price and ambience made up for it. Our server, penny, was so attentive and friendly. We had minestrone soup which was delicious, wholesome and not oily. My husband had asiago veal and i had the limone veal. Both were delicious without being too rich, oily or seasoned. The price was excellent with good sized portions and value. The cuppachino was good too

You know it’s bad when I write a review. This was the 2^nd time in 20 years of marriage I had to complain ams send something back. Carbonara on the waitress recommendation. Chicken rubbery and RAW. APPS were terrible. Salads terrible. I feel very nauseous which I know is not food poisoning, but just disgusted at eating 70 dollars on totally disgusting food.

We were looking forward to a nice Birthday dinner for my wife at Bocaccini’s as we had never been there but had read some good reviews. My wife had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which she said was delicious. I opted for the Shrimp and Lobster Risotto. The risotto had a wonderfully cheesy taste and the shrimp were large and nicely seasoned. My first encounter with a small chunk of «Lobster» had me suspicious. One bite and it fell apart in my mouth into small uniform pieces or strands. I recognized the texture immediately as the cheaper Imitation Crab/​Lobster that is common on many Chinese buffets or used in Sushi. It’s also known as «Surimi» and usually contains White fish or Pollack as the main ingredient. I dug out a few more pieces for a better look and confirmed my initial suspicion.
I mentioned this to the waiter who relayed my disappointment to the kitchen. He returned to tell me that while it was a «processed» lobster it did contain real lobster meat. I did a quick search for imitation lobster products and while some do contain lobster, it is usually the 6^th or 7^th ingredient after egg whites, potato starch, sugar and the «contains less than 2% of the following» statement.
For an $ 18 dish, I would expect some real lobster meat, especially when it’s in the name of the dish.

Gary and his team were absolutely amazing. I called from the west coast on New Years Eve around 5 o’clock with a special and difficult request. My east coast family lost someone and I wanted to order a large amount of comfort food so they wouldn’t have to think about cooking. Normally they only deliver when they cater a whole event, but after a couple of quick consultations with the kitchen Gary said they would make it happen, and an hour later a half pan of eggplant parmesan, a half pan of penne a la vodka and a half pan of salad was being delivered… all the way to farmington!
My relatives were happy not to have to cook and said the food was delicious. What sweet group they have at Bocaccini’s! I would recommend this place to anyone.

This is one restaurant that you should not judge by it’s cover (décor.) I had been looking forward to a lunch at a nice restaurant and when my husband took us here, I was ready not to like the food. Boy was I wrong. Though the décor is very unassuming … there is nothing particularly fancy or cozy about the place … it is very clean and the food and the service are absolutely wonderful. The bread that they bring to the table while you wait is soft and fresh and the garlic butter is whipped and yummy. I had the Frutti di Mare and my husband ordered off of the daily specials menu. Both meals were abundant in both size and flavour. At no point did we feel rushed yet our waitress was always on hand if we needed anything.
I’ve been back a number of times since the first visit and would encourage anyone who likes Italian to do the same. This place needs to be frequented … often!

Came here for a retirement party. Its located with the plaza of tops and other stores, but very easy to find with the sign of the restaurant in big red letters.
the décor was nice with mostly booths as seating and tables and chairs surrounding. there is a bar to your right when you walk in and straight ahead is the kitchen where you can see them cooking.
the restaurant closed off a separate section for our party of 25. there was a curtain to separate from the restaurant and they put tables together to fit us where the fireplace is.
we had their bread with garlic butter (my fav), salad (good), cheese pizza (good), bolognese pasta (very good), another pasta unsure of the name but it had a white sauce meat spinach beans (it was ok), and then chicken farm (very good). our waitress was awesome who kept refilling our waters and removing the plates that we completed.
i would come here again if i was looking for an Italian place (different from the chains) and if it was in the area.

I’m not usually a fan of going out for Italian. I can hear my mom saying «why would you pay for sauce, here I have a pot of sauce in my pocket/​closet/​dresser drawer.» Anyhoo, this restaurant is a lovely place, clean, well lit, kitchen views. We started with the fried calamari appetizer, it is well sized, the calamari were lightly breaded and tender. The accompanying sauce was chunky, thick and delicious.
I think that by far I ordered the best meal at the table. Everyone enjoyed theirs, I ordered the October fish special, cod wrapped in prosciutto (thin meaty slices that crisped up and browned slightly, tightly wrapped around the flaky decent sized cod) over a bed of asiago risotto studded with big hunks of tender butternut squash, in a pool of cider, topped with tender rainbow chard. Everything was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It was phenomenal, really… I’d go back and buy the dish all over again, I looked forward to leftovers.
However…I would love it if they had one house crafted pasta as an option.

Recently started working in the plaza. Go there once a week for drinks. Good beer, great food and some tvs by the bar on ESPN. Got everything I need. Foods good too.

Chanced into this place on a recent business trip where I found myself at a hotel in Victor. Was in the mood for Italian, and the Unilocal reviews seemed good, so I went for it. Was not disappointed. I went for one of the specials, a panko encrusted veal chop served over grilled cauliflower and baby potatoes. It was excellent. The chop was tender and done to perfection. The grilled cauliflower was delicious and a nice touch. Perhaps a bit too much butter used in the recipe, but on the whole it was very good.
The wait staff was also very good, w/​my waiter being attentive but not annoying. I ordered an espresso after dinner. It came to the table a little on the watery side, and w/​o crème; and I pointed this out to the waiter, who promptly apologized and brought me another w/​o any problem. The second came to the table brewed perfectly.
The restaurant is located in a strip mall, but it offers an outdoor dining area, and the inside is specious and unpretentious. This would be a good place for larger groups or parties.

I have been here many times and have enjoyed there Spinach Salad with Carmelized Walnuts with a big piece of Boneless Chicken. One of the highlights is the warm bread they bring out with Garlic Butter with every meal I have ever had. The service is great and Bocaccinis smells great when you walk in. Enjoy!

Had Shrimp Spinach Panchetti. The sauce tasted like it was from a jar, the pasta from a box and the shrimp was overcooked and the tails left on. Had a calamari appetizer and that was overcooked too

My husband and I frequent Boca’s for their happy hour specials at the bar pretty regularly, especially in the winter. The wait staff is friendly and the location is great. We usually split an appetizer and a pizza and have a few drinks. Their Friday fish fry during Lent is great. I recommend checking it out.

The night we decided to come here there was vomit outside the door before we entered. That should of sent us away but we let the people up front know and they said they already knew about it… Kind of gross cause you would hope it would be cleaned up if they knew. Anyway guess it sent the tone because our meals were not very good. This is the kind of place where they give you a huge portion but the quality of the food is not that great. Overall would not recommend this place and surprised by the good reviews

We went here for dinner in a large group of 14. There were two other table seated in the restaurant. Service was horrible. We waited 25 min for our drinks. We then waited 60 plus min for the appetizers. After that it was another 30 plus min before our dinners. I then had to wait another 25 min plus for the take out for my husband. On top of that they forgot to make the salad I ordered for him. Now the server has no control over the meals or apps prep time but we had no water or drink refills on any regular basis we were always dry.
I went and spoke to the manager and explained or experience and the indifference was terrible. I had told him it was my first time here and may not return and he just said ok. This is not how you do business. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever. I will be writing to the owners.

We have been going here for years and never had a bad experience. The food is very fresh, salads have dark green lettuce, rotating seasonal menu and bar tenders are very friendly.
Definitely someplace we bring friends to.

We’ve eaten here and been satisfied both times. The ambiance is definitely sub-​par, (it needs some sprucing up) but the food is good and the service has been just fine. I especially enjoy the fried zucchini appetizer.

Found in an unassuming strip plaza in Fairport, Bocaccinis is one of the best Italian restaurants in Rochester. While it seems like there are hundreds of Italian restaurants to choose from in Rochester, Bocaccinis stands out for the freshness of the food and the modern atmosphere.
I have always stuck to the pasta and chicken dishes, with their Orecchiette Fagioli-​Italian Sausage and their Fussili Aioli & Olio-​Grilled Chicken with Asparagus being some of my favorite dishes.
With a decent wine menu and a charming patio, a summer night, in a strip plaza is complete with a trip to Bocaccinis. Only reason for 4 stars, that 90’s looking strip plaza…

I’m going to be honest… I come for the bread. I’m really not kidding. If I could just sit and eat the breat and butter… I’d be a happy camper.
But the food is usually pretty good. I don’t have a problem with the food– it’s the reason this place gets a 3÷5… it’s the service that I have trouble with here. The past three times (yes three) we have had issues with service… attention, forgetting something, food being late… SOMEthing…
Yet I go back… I think it is because of the bread…

Another strip mall restaurant, as seems to be common in Rochester, or maybe east coast in general. Regardless, it didn’t feel stripish inside. It did smell a tad off («Is this Italian or Chinese food??» my aunt questioned at first), but I attribute that to the fish fry Friday we happened upon.
We had called ahead because it *was* Friday night and the short notice reservation was taken politely, though not really needed as I discovered when we arrived. The dining area is rather spacious and wasn’t even half filled. We were promptly seated, menu’d (one of us were crayon’d), and watered. A note my cousin would begrudgedly add — though they serve Pepsi products, they do not have Mountain Dew.
The menu isn’t horribly vast, but each section offers enough to chose from on its own that if you aren’t careful you’ll be deciding between 12 things. Depending on what section you chose to start in, a meal here can vary from about $ 8 to over $ 15 for just the entrée. There’s salads that you can add meat to and they’d be entrée sized, pasta dishes, paninis, pizzas, and plates. So, decide which section you want first and go from there. I guess. I was craving fish once we walked in, I was set before we sat down, so don’t look to me to help you decide what to get, figure it out yourself why don’tcha.
We ordered fried ravioli to start and they were fast to pop out. Delicious. The sauce they were served on was chunky and well cooked by which I mean it wasn’t over cooked into a steamy mush but it was just heated until the tomatoes started thinking about ketchup but stopped at that thought and became this chunky freshly basil’d sauce. Let me be clear — it was good.
The bread our server brought over prior to our appetizer but I hadn’t tried until I needed help with the extra sauce was also quite good. It was whole-​grainy though I don’t think it was actually wheat bread. I am sad I didn’t use the butter, I didn’t know it was spiffy lemon garlic butter or else I would have. The bread was soft and warm and didn’t need any help as it was.
Main course — the special, I guess it’s called the fish fry around these parts, was a crusted tilapia over a creamy sauce and risotto. There was some broccoli nonsense going on. Ok, it wasn’t nonsense, it was actually well prepared steamed broccoli and I ate every piece I could find because it made me feel less guilty for eating valentine candy for lunch. The garlic cream sauce went well with the whole meal, but was under the fish which kept the crusted tilapia crusty and not mushy.
My aunt had the Eggplant Parmesan, my cousin has the chicken parm, my son had a green crayon with some chocolate milk. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, though the servings are ridiculous and next time I’ll be sharing. We all only had pasta, or in my case risotto, leftover so we didn’t box anything up. It would have been smart to plan for leftovers, I guess, but seafood leftovers creep me out.
My one actual complaint because «portions are too big» is the oddest thing to actually complain about was our poor server. I hate having a bad remark about service when it’s not that the server was rude or inappropriate… she just didn’t refill our drinks until asked and actually never refilled my water at all. Aside from this, our server was delightful, she split our check (straight in half to be easy) without qualm, and the food was brought out promptly. She was a 5 star server… except for the drinks. Though, really, she was quite lovely in all other respects and so she really is a 5 star server, regardless of drinks. But still. Get on top of the refill situation, please.
