S&R Process Serving

I’m a paralegal at a small firm. I had a note in my computer not to use this company again, but I went ahead and did. That was a mistake. First, I faxed a request for process service to them several weeks ago. I never heard back, so I called. Turned out their fax had been out of service «off and on.» Ok, it happens, I’ll just email the order to them. Called for status a few weeks ago and got no response. Today I receive in the mail a declaration stating that the person I was trying to serve no longer worked at the business where we were trying to serve him, along with a bill. No phone call to tell me this, or opportunity for me to do a little research and find a new address for them. I called them to see if they could attempt service again at a new address I found, but no, they’ve already destroyed the pleadings I sent them since they closed out the file. Great, now I need to dig out the pleadings again, do a new cover letter, and the proof of service is now overdue so I’ll probably have to draft a pleading for the court. Just what an overworked paralegal needs. Forget it — I’m trying a different company.
