History

Established in 2010.

Derek and Karen DaCosta opened DaCosta’s Auto World in 2010 to provide the Fairfield community with a one stop shop for purchasing and servicing used vehicles. Since they began serving the Fairfield community over 30 years ago, Derek and Karen have established a trusting relationship with numerous, longtime customers in the area. Though DaCosta’s Auto World has grown tremendously in the past 30 years, Derek and Karen remain committed to their original mission of helping local residents with all of their automotive needs. DaCosta’s Auto World is now the perfect place to fully serve automotive customers in the Fairfield area. Derek and Karen thank those who have supported them throughout the years and are excited for many more years to come.

When they opened their first shop, over 30 years ago, it was founded on the premise of the «golden rule” — to always treat others as he would wish to be treated. Today, Derek and Karen, as well as the entire staff of salesmen and technicians at DaCosta’s, still strive to fulfill this mission in all of their business interactions, as well as in their personal lives. Derek Decosta is a dishonest crook! Got a diagnostic for an O2 sensor. (which was over priced) He wanted $ 400+. Got it done for less then $ 300. When I said, I was taking my truck somewhere else. He LIED to me and said there were 3, O2 sensors on my vehicle… There is only 2.

I had the best experience here. They do good work. My check engine light was on. I dropped it off in the morning. It was done and fixed by 3pm. If I ever need anything fixed on my truck I will definitely be bring it here from now on.

If I could give more stars to Karen and Derek I would!
Karen has spent literally hours with me for about 3 – 4 days figuring out financing and has been super dedicated with us even when our employer has made the process difficult. She has done so much to make it work to the best of her abilities by trying every angle she could. Thank you guys so much and we truly appreciate everything!

I’ve been doing business with the Dacostas for over 20 years. They’ve done everything from smogs to transmissions for me and my family. They’ve never steered me wrong.
It’s a pity that on Unilocal,very few people post unless that have something negative to share.

While on one hand it was cool they said they could get me in if I could come right away. On the other hand not so much. I got there and advised I was approved for the CAP (Consumer Assistance Program) and my letter would expire on 7⁄27. They said I would have to leave the car for 2 weeks and have another car. I came home and called the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Auto Repair and inquired. They said #1 the letter’s expiration goes away once submitted to the shop and #2 that NO shop should hold a car for that long and urged strongly to shop around. They suggested going to a shop and get the diagnostic for failed repair and not mention the CAP until after finding repair costs.

Great service! Great people! Great deals! However, I’m a little disappointed by the other reviews. I feel if you have a problem speak up about it to the owner, bashing on Unilocal won’t get you anywhere in life. This family owned business was honest and very helpful beyond my expectations. Thumbs up for an amazing experience!

Take your money somewhere else. If you decide to have your vehicle worked on here, you might as well bring a saw because this place will charge you an arm and a leg. First time I came in around noon to drop my car off, the owner was obviously overwhelmed and said we’re all booked for today, come by tomorrow morning. I came by 8.30 in the morning and dropped off my car. It wasn’t passing smog test. They called by the end of the day and said the sensors were bad and It needs a new catalytic converter. They said 1600 for part and labor. When I picked it up the next day, it’s $ 2000. They also left my windows open on the only day of the month that it rained. I feel ripped off and they got over on me. Everyone I talked to told me I should have bought the part online for around 400 – 500 and have someone install it. Would have saved a lot of money, I know better now. This family business feeds off ripping customers off! Enough said.
