Courtyard by Marriott Fairfield Napa Valley

Just stayed here for a business trip two weeks ago and I must say that the service I received was spectacular! Ravitesh, the front office manager, was warm and inviting during check in, and assured us to let him know if we ever needed anything. The rooms were recently renovated, so they were quite nice. Also, the gym at this Courtyard, is probably one of the biggest ones I’ve seen.
In addition to the great hotel and staff, the location is unbeatable. There is a Raley’s grocery store right next door and it’s very conveniently located to a mall down the street with lots of food options. I highly recommend this place for the budget conscious traveler.

I stayed here with my family after a miserable experience. We’d experienced a death and were in shock, grieving and nearly senseless. My wife called ahead and explained the situation and asked for a room. Not only did Debbie from Courtyard have a room for us, which she allowed us to check into at 3:00 AM, we found a small package filled with thoughtful items that a broken and exhausted group might need: toiletries, sundries, snacks, water. She assured us that she and her staff would do anything they could to assist and make things easier.
Any hotel can offer great service, and Courtyard nearly always does. But it is rare that they let you see the people behind the perma-​grin and nametag, the genuine human beings who will reach out above and beyond and make a small home for those in need. Thank you, Debbie and coworkers. I’m sorry I didn’t also get your names, but I hope someone will pass on my gratitude and praise.

Being that I go back to visit my home town often, I have to say, this is absolutely the best hotel in the area. Hotel is located in a secluded corner away from the all the noise of the town. Lots of restaurants and a mall nearby. The hotel is well designed with modern design and décor. The lobby and bar that looks like my wife and I will take advantage next time we stay. Rooms decorated and spaced nicely. We also used the pool and jucuzzi which was nice clean and relaxing. Can’t wait to return.

Stayed here a few nights ago after pulling an all-​nighter driving from San Diego to the North. Didn’t know the hotel, never stayed at a Courtyard.
I walked in completely beat, drained, and numb, yet even in my condition I could clearly see how clean the hotel was, the room was perfect, every little corner was spotless and smelled fresh. So much that I honestly did a double take.
The next day I met the two gals that do the cleaning, Anabel & Destiny and thanked them for the attention to detail. They credited their boss, Housekeeping Manager, Jessica for their training and how much she insists on everything being perfect… Well, it was.
My biggest guilt here though is forgetting the dearest lady (night auditor) that checked me in. A true example of excellent customer service. I am sorry I forgot her name (Debbie?) but I did not forget her empathy and giving a little welcome bag. Such a sweet gesture.
Kudos to the manager of this hotel or whomever is doing the hiring, because they knocked it out of the park.

This place is clean and quiet. I don’t recommend staying here for napa trips. You think 30 minutes isn’t that far, but it is. Also, this place sleeps early. The bar closes around 9pm, with limited drinks and food to start with. They had an event happening here and closed the kitchen to the rest of the guests, which I think is weird. There is no safe in the rooms. I did sleep well though!

We have been at the Marriott for going over 3 weeks renevating the hotel. The service is great the rooms are updated and clean. Come down and check it out yourself.

4^th floor has been renovated and they’re working on the 3^rd, the 2^nd and 1^st floors. If you are working nightshift I suggest u get some ear plugs. Friendly service!

Great spot on the way to chill, relax and on occasion conduct business. Large spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Tim at the Bistro poured us a couple glasses of tasty wine right at closing time.

Though this Courtyard has Napa Valley in its title, it is actually a 25-​minute drive to get to Downtown Napa. This Courtyard though does offer much lower room rates (as well as less Marriott Rewards points to redeem a room) than closer to Napa Valley area Marriott brand hotels like the SpringHill Suites and Marriott in Napa or even the Fairfield Inn in American Canyon. The low room rate and the closeness to Napa Valley make this one to consider if you are loyal to Marriott and need a value option for a Napa Valley stay.
Unfortunately, the hotel is not that great. It is in kind of a crowded retail area with lots of chains and a busy In-​N-​Out. The hotel feels very dated. This hotel is undergoing an update and it looks like this Courtyard is going to adopt the new and more modern Courtyard style I experienced at the Courtyard Downtown Buffalo. Until that update is complete though, this hotel has carpets and bedding that are actually one update behind most Courtyards.
The elevator was also very small and dingy. It felt like the type of claustrophobic hotel elevator you would find in a crowded metropolitan like Manhattan. The rooms were mostly clean, but the bathrooms showed a lot of wear and tear around the toilet and shower. The room was comfortable with a good temperature though the A/​C unit was quite loud.
The rest of the hotel seemed fine. I did not go into the fitness center, but it looked like it was similar to most other Courtyards out there. The lobby was fine and featured Courtyard’s modern technologically equipped lobby and bistro that most Courtyards now offer.
Marriott Rewards Platinum members get a nice bonus here. Like all the other Courtyards, the arrival gift includes bonus points plus a choice from the market. Where this Courtyard separates itself from other Courtyards is the selection in the market with the choice of somewhat fancy snack packs (cheese and crackers), gourmet chocolate covered nuts and whole pints of Haagen-​Dazs ice cream.
Service was also very good. The staff was very pleasant and seemed to do all the little things right to make guests’ stays as pleasant as possible.
As mentioned, room rates are very reasonable here and represent one of the best selling points of this hotel.
I think this Courtyard will be a nice option once they complete the renovation even though it will still not be in an exciting or desirable area. Until that renovation, this Courtyard is a decent value option for a short stay. If you are spending several days in this area, I think you may want to check out other options because the dated rooms and long drive to nicer areas might put a damper on your vacation.
Like most Courtyards, this property offers free self parking.

While this part of town is hardly the Napa Valley that one envisions, this hotel certainly lives up to all the needs one might have for a local stay. Nice rooms, decent morning food service, and nice ammenities.

If your looking to having a local wedding reception, stay far away from this place!!! My Fiancé and I are having our reception in May and were looking to reserve some rooms for out of town guests. So far, we’ve attempted to reach the special events manager Stephanie four times. Every time we attempt to reach her, she is always at lunch… And know one else seems interested in helping you. Poor management, poor reviews, not getting our business. Plenty of other great options in the area. Good luck booking another hotel!

Before it was a Courtyard, this property was a Holiday Inn. It still has some of that feeling and it’s interesting to see how Marriott has bent this into shape. It has the usual Courtyard check-​in desks and the Courtyard lobby dining area but that’s where it ends.
My room was an odd shape with a king sized bed but much empty space. The bathroom was tiny but clean. And otherwise, it had all the usual soaps, towels and coffee service items I’ve seen at other Courtyard properties.
Courtyard properties do not offer a free breakfast. It’s just not their model. There is a Denny’s and a Huckleberry’s near by.
One complaint — the damned TV turned on at 6:00 AM. Thank you, previous guest, for that wake up call.

Great stay, real clean, great service, and decent price. I was charge some drinks that I didn’t charge to my room but the front desk handled it and fixed it. Will be coming back for another get away from the city.

What can you expect from a Courtyard Marriott?! With that in mind, this Courtyard is pretty much as good as it gets with respect to the older Courtyards… I have stayed at this location a couple of times when working between Sacramento and the Bay Area. The location is near perfect and the amenities are plentiful. To put things into perspective, the rooms are nicely sized and I usually get upgraded to the larger rooms, which are very well appointed. The lobby is newly renovated and has all the typical courtyard things (dining, bar, TVs) plus they also serve Starbucks, which platinum Marriott members get for free :-D. Overall a good location for the Fairfield/​Napa area with an IN N Out in the parking lot!!!
Tip: make sure you ask for a room that is quiet and away from the freeway.

I am a loyal Marriott traveler. I have stayed at this courtyard about 4 times ion the last 18 months. I’m not sure what company owned it prior, but Marriott is making headway in converting it to their standards. The lobby area has been renovated since my last visit, and is much brighter and welcoming than my last stay. Like I said, they are making headway, but the rooms still are subpar for Marriott. They remind me of an aging Holiday Inn. If the work the same magic on the rooms as the lobby, it will be the place to stay in the area. Plenty of food options within walking distance, and quick access to the major traffic routes. I will continue to stay here regardless of the room renovations schedule (if they are even planned) as I said, I’m loyal to the chain.

Michael K. noted on his review that by Marriott standards, this hotel was substandard, and indeed he was correct. I apparently (by number of stars) was far more underwhelmed by my experience.
*It is important to note that I am not (too) picky about lodging, so if you read my other posts, you will see that for the most part, I am pretty easy to please.
Admittedly, I was not thrilled with the location, but I am well aware that most Courtyards are set alongside a major highway. My check-​in was uneventful, as the front desk clerk welcomed me and thanked me for being a Marriott member, and attempted to accommodate my request for an upgrade (she noted that she not only upgraded my room, but took care of my co-worker’s room). When I reflect on this now, I shudder to think what the other room looked like!
I have never enjoyed elevators, and so the fact that the elevator seemed ancient and rickety was unsettling, but I hunkered down and took the slow creaky ride to the third floor. Upon entering my «upgraded room», I was immediately struck by the smell of stale cigarette smoke and deodorizer. Given that I have asthma, this was not a good experience, and I called downstairs to notify the attendant and ask to be moved to another room. The attendant acted angry (with the previous person who stayed in my room) and instructed me to wait in the room until she could have someone come up and take pictures. «Take pictures of what?» I queried, and she said, «all the cigarette butts!» I informed her that I would not be waiting around for a photo session in the room, and asked for another room — she obliged. Back on the creaky elevator, I wondered if they had any rooms on the main floor, because the thing sounded as if it would give out, any minute! Upon arrival back in the lobby, I found the attendant frantically trying to borrow a cell phone from her co-​worker to take pictures of the smelly room, and I again noted that it smelled bad, but looked clean. I received NO apology for the inconvenience.
I then entered room #2, and although it was thick with deodorizer (hotels need to work on this, because some people are sensitive to highly aromatic deodorizers), it was clean and sans stale smoke. There was a balcony, that was without any outside furnishings, with a view of the parking lot where the Fairfield police apparently like to hang out. The door to the outside did not stay open, so there was no opportunity for airing out the deodorized room. As I went to walk back into my room, I couldn’t help but notice that the windows had not been cleaned in… years. I then noticed that half the lights on the Courtyard sign had burned out and I began to wonder whether Marriott had disowned this particular establishment. Clearly the management of this particular hotel, had no love for the job.
Once in the new room, I sat down on the desk and was immediately dismayed to see that housekeeping only cleaned the visible surfaces — the under table (which you pull out to work on) had not been cleaned! I turned on the TV and just my luck… the darn thing didn’t work! Well, it worked, but you couldn’t see the picture (you get my drift). I didn’t have the energy to move rooms again, so instead I chose to read. And now the last straw… in the AM, I turned on the shower, and all of this brown stuff (I won’t insult you by saying what I think it was) came bubbling up from the drain, and it smelled bad (perhaps explaining the heavy deodorizer that was used in the rooms?)! It was then, that I simply stuck my head under the spigot in the bathroom and gave up!
The Courtyard Café — my co-​worker and I ate our dinner and breakfast at the café’ — I am sorry to say that the pizza crust had a freezer-​burn taste to it, but it was delivered to our table with enthusiasm, so two thumbs up for customer service! Both dinner and breakfast were pleasant, because the people were really wonderful.
Pros: The bed was extremely comfortable, the desk help in the AM were kind and accommodating and the Café’ crew were warm and hospitable people. The pool area was nice and according to my coworker, the pool was nicely heated. The workout room was quite nice!
Cons: Clearly lackadaisical management who have allowed this place to really become run down, housekeeping is sub-​par and the overall experience was disappointing.
Do yourselves a favor and choose another hotel when visiting Fairfield. Sorry Marriott, I have always been a fan!

Clean and in good conditon. $ 200 suite worked well for my 5-​member family. Couches are clean and desk furniture worked well for my family who likes to dwell on electronics at night. Ample space. The outside looks a bit jenky and old, but don’t be fooled, the inside has surely been renovated. Windows are large! Great place to stay with plenty of food choices nearby. Wineries also not too far.
Service was very friendly. Mantainence willingly came up four times to deliver random things without a complaint. Front desk even followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was properly addressed.
Our only complaint– pull out beds were definitely uncomfortable :(. My brother and grandma complained about being able to feel the springs. These definitely need to be changed out!

By Marriott standards this hotel is substandard. It’s not the worst hotel I’ve stayed in by far but when I stay at a Marriott and pay for a marriott I expect better. This place definitely has its wear and tear showing in the rooms. It looks like they tried to dress it up but the workmanship was sloppy. The bathrooms are small, the sinks were too low, the tiling in the shower looked like they were trying to cover up something. My room had a cracked sink, chipped tile, and mildewed shower curtains.
The customer service was lacking. I asked for a wake up call that never came. While the hotel wasn’t even close to being full they stuck my coworker in a room right across from the ice machine and elevator. We asked if there was any places they might recommend for dinner and they could only suggest a BJs 10 miles away.
Over all it’s all small stuff but combined it just left me disappointed.

My husband and I stay here at least once a year. The beds are very comfy which is very important for me, the rooms are clean and they have good breakfast
