Tip 1: Don’t come on the weekend. Very busy. Tip 2: Bring a coupon. Tip 3: Pricey unless you select a style that is on sale. We’ve been coming here for years. I like that they competently measure your child’s feet. I can’t say the same for Payless. I think Stride Rite trains their staff better since they are only selling shoes for children. I like that if your child is rough on their shoes, you can have the replaced for free as long as they are the same size. Over the past eight years, I’ve only had to do that once(but actually had to get two replacements because the particular style we bought… they kept falling apart). Today I took my daughter and I was looking at sandals. The sales associate was very kind. She suggested I wait a little longer before buying sandals unless I thought my daughter would be using them a lot right now — knowing that she’s going to grow and today’s size would be too small to make it through the summer. I did decided to hold off, but they’ll still see my sales because we will be returning in 4 – 6 weeks.

If it’s crowded and you aren’t in the mood for a long wait and the possibility of getting ignored, don’t go here. Otherwise, it’s a great store. Though they always seem understaffed, the staff is friendly and helpful. The shoes can indeed be pricy, but it also seems like they always have a sale or two going on all of the time. In fact, I have never been here and failed to find what I was looking for. To be fair, I love the Fair Oaks Mall, so I am probably predisposed to like any place here. However, it would recommend this place if you are looking for shoes for your child.

I expected the store to be busy on a Saturday afternoon. However, there were only two sales people on duty. They both seemed overwhelmed with the volume of loud children and demanding parents. The young woman who assisted us was nice enough. However, she completely disappeared after giving us the shoes we selected. We determined that the shoes fit our kid and waited in the massive line to pay. While I appreciate the quality of Stride Rite shoes, I don’t think I will shop at this location again.

Today was my second and last trip to this store. Both times I was helped by very young people who didn’t know anything about the product, couldn’t tell me the difference between the different shoes they carry, and offered no help or advice whatsoever. For $ 48 for a pair of toddler shoes, I expect someone who knows how to work with children and SIZETHEMPROPERLY, understands the various stages and challenges of learning to walk, and has basic communication skills. The two different people that helped us on two separate occasions put us in drastically different sizes. Because this store is so busy on the weekends, I took the morning off of work and we were the very first customers in the store. It didn’t make any difference at all. The young man who helped us behaved like we were wasting his time and he was bored. I went to the Stride Rite website and used their online chat. I asked for the district manager’s contact information so I could speak to them about my experience. They don’t give that information out. ??? Any company that actually cares about customer experience would welcome feedback. Never again.

I grew up wearing Stride Rite shoes. They do have great shoes that hold up pretty well. Their return policy is great if you buy a size ahead and they don’t work out… bring them back for store credit. A little pricey, but it isn’t too bad if you do the Buy One get one 50% off. The only problem with sale that was I couldn’t do two pairs of Keens… or even a pair of Keens and Crocs… but I could do Keens and Reebok?

so… always busy. the staff sucks. they are not nice, not helpful, rude, and… just not nice. i mean come on, this is a kid’s shoe store. be nice, be compassionate, be… chick-fil-a-ish!!! they have an ok selection of shoes, but they all look alike. it’s stride rite so the shoes are all overpriced… even more of a reason for the employees to be nice.

I love the shoes and for the most part the good service we receive. However, in this particular location I have had people that were not helpful or happy to be there. It is one offs but honestly I believe that when you are dealing with children, the employees should be extra helpful and kid friendly.
