Spa Aphrodite

I visited Spa Aphrodite because I had purchased a Groupon discount for a haircut and styling. Upon arriving, I thought maybe I had the wrong location — it’s located on the second floor in a building of office suites. I hold no points against them for this, I thought maybe it will be a best-​kept-​secret sort of thing. I do however hold points against them for disposition and service.
The stylist kept commenting on the poor quality of my hair (it’s damaged from years of dying and the ends are splitting). Her comments went beyond constructive criticism and instead just felt like insults. I was there to improve the mistakes in my hair, not have a pity party for it. She didn’t comb carefully, and instead pulled rather aggressively through my hair, all with a disappointed expression on her face.
The results were average. No wow factor. And not fully dry.

I don’t even want to give a single star. I went in there for hair highlights n haircut.
It was wastage of money n time. I bought a deal from Groupon n spend $ 100 after so many discounts. Hair were not cutted or highlighted professionally had to dye them again myself.

Unilocal needs negative stars for places like this. Worst experience ever. Made an appt, and they were a half hour late– on top of which I KNOW they saw other ppl before me. The salon was small and dirty with hair still left all over the ground. And while I like dogs, who lets one in to a salon area??? My hair cut was miserable. I literally went home and cried. I grew out my hair for a YEAR to be able to get the cut I wanted, and this lady just chopped off all my hair. And just the cherry on top, they didn’t honor my living social voucher, so I ended up paying ninety dollar for the most miserable experience of my life. Stay away

I had a Groupon for a couples massage. My husband and I really enjoyed the massage, best I ever had. Make sure to let them know if you’re pregnant, because they have a specialist for that type of massage.

My boyfriend and I went here recently for a couples massage, and it was fantastic! Both people were great, and super friendly. The environment is perfect and smells amazing. Their customer service is excellent as well. I left my FitBit in the room and called to ask about it… the man offered to mail it to me so I wouldn’t have to drive back to get it (we live in Arlington so sometimes getting there in traffic can be a bit of a time commitment)
Highly suggest this place!

Very disappointed with my experience. In Summary I purchased a Groupon for Haircut and style for my 16 year old daughter. Upon checking out, was informed that there would be an additional $ 20.00 charge for cutting her hair due to the length. The voucher did not mention any additional charges for longer hair. Not sure why one would be charged extra for having long hair cut anyway. Two inches cut is two inches.
Long or short hair, charging extra for long hair to be cut opposed to short hair is not standard in this business. In the end, this $ 29 hair cut and style voucher cost $ 49.00 dollars for haircut and style for my 16 year old daughter with straight hair. Not a place I would recommend for hair cut and style.

I had an appointment for a haircut. The girl that cut my hair did a great job. I purchased a groupon and overall as pleased with the price I had payed and the cut itself until-​I got to the register. As I was about to swipe my card the stylist tells me that I had to pay an extra $ 20 for my Long hair– whatever purpose that serves. So i ended up paying the full price of a haircut even with the groupon. Bottom line is, if your hair is shoulder length or longer, I don’t recommend you go to this salon. I would have happily payed for another haircut in the future if it wasn’t for the sneaky tactics.

Darla was very fast when highlighting and cutting my hair. She styled it nicely too. I would go back to her.

This was my first visit to Spa Aphrodite and I am so glad I went! The staff was very friendly and my massage was superb. I can’t wait to go back :)

Although my hair turned out exactly how I wanted it to, doni (hair dresser) was just not very friendly. It was almost awkward to sit there while she did my hair because she seemed annoyed with me for whatever reason. I won’t be back.

I am a new fan of Spa Aphrodite after receiving a wonderful 90 minute deep tissue massage yesterday. Over the years, I have had massages from a variety of therapists. .and I used to be a massage therapist myself. So, I’m pretty particular about technique, atmosphere, etc. My massage was perfect! It was definitely tailored to meet my specific needs. Thanks Jonathan for bringing Spa Aphrodite to Fairfax. I look forward to trying other services offered at your spa.

My appointment was for Brazilian wax and hour massage. Doni did my Brazilian wax she was extremely professional very very friendly. I was nervous about getting wax because it always was never pleasant experience and seemed to take for ever. Doni was FAST and it was painless. It took 5 mins for the whole process, I am use to 20 mins if it’s done probably. My massage was awesome as well and loved the masseuse Almaz who kept making sure she was applying the right pressure.

Booked a massage appointment online and was pleased with this discovery so close to home.
Relatively new to the neighborhood, the owner (Jonathan?) was extremely pleasant, very positive and accommodating.
Bottom line it is a new, very clean, full service salon.
My 90 minute massage was good and the therapist did well. I am sure she will get better as time goes on and she develops more of a rhythm.
Would be nice if Whitney from my other massage place worked here!
Parking is under the building and accessed from the side street — I am sure you’ll go around the block like I did to find it.

I learned about Spa Aphrodite through purchasing a Groupon for color, haircut, and style, and Chante was my stylist. She did a phenomenal job with transforming my dry, faded, uneven hair into a fresh and gorgeous look. She took the time to really do a good job, and I appreciated that very much. Plus, she’s awesome to talk to, and the time flew by quickly. I haven’t found a great stylist in the area that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg until I went to Chante, and now I don’t think I’ll go anywhere else. Thank you!

I am very disappointed with my experience at this spa. I bought a groupon for a couples massage for my husband and I. After encountering some bad traffic, we were 5 minutes late (we called ahead of time to let them know this). However, when we arrived, the owner stated that they had overbooked our time slot and the other massage therapist who was going to do us, was late.
We did not end up starting our 3:30 massage until sometime between 4 and 4:15. While we waited, the owner had a sheet where they had us identify problem areas. My husband circled his lower back, however, the owner kept on awkwardly saying he circled his «butt.» This started everything on a strange note. I circled my shoulder as a problem area and the woman who massaged me put such intense pressure on it, I experienced serious pain. I told her several times it hurt, however she kept the same pressure saying this would «make it feel better.»
Today, 24 hours later, my shoulders, neck, and upper back are extremely sore and painful. I feel extremely uncomfortable.
Lastly, my husband and I both discussed the tip together and decided $ 20 was plenty, given the very late start. The owner then told my husband that the groupon specifies that the tip must be $ 20 per person, not total. This is absolutely untrue. We already felt uncomfortable and wanted to get out of there so we have them the extra $ 20. However, as you see from other reviews, this must happen often with the Groupon. Awful experience. Spend the extra 60 bucks and go somewhere great for a massage– not here.

I bought a 90 mins couples massage thru Groupon for my boyfriend and I. Made an appointment and on the day of appt, receptionist calls to cancel because one of their employees didn’t show up for work. It was alot of back and forth before I could get another appt with this salon (a month later).
On the day of our rescheduled appt, the lady showed my boyfriend and I to the couples massage room. Told us to undress and hang up our clothes on the hook and lay underneath what looks like a very thin see-​through sheet facedown.
1) appt time was at 3pm. Massage therapist didn’t show until 3:15pm.
2) she did a great job getting the knots out of both shoulders but half assed the rest of the massage.
3) my boyfriend and I both requested a Swedish massage but that’s not what we got. The therapist barely touched the rest of the body. Instead, we got «trickling» effects with their fingers all although the body. That went on for about 30 mins. She played with my hair for approximately 15 mins.
4) I did appreciate the hot towels on my legs, feet and face.
When this whole situation was over, the time was 4:21pm. I told them that I had paid for 90 mins and they told me that was 90 mins. They either couldn’t tell time or this is how they scheme their clients. After arguing over the time, they offered to give us A) 30 more mins or B) another appt another time for 30 mins.
A) we already got dressed and didn’t want anymore of the finger trickling effect.
B) we live in MD and it was a little under an hour to get to the spa.
We didn’t take either offers. We will not be returning and I hope with this review, they will get a better timer in there and stop scheming the customers.

My boyfriend and I took advantage of a Groupon deal and had a couples massage. We both felt very relaxed and that the therapists successfully worked out our knots.
The two suggestions I would make for this business both involve improved communication. We would have liked to meet our therapists before the actual massage. The few times I have had a massage this always had happened and I think it makes for a better experience. Also, it felt a bit strange when the massage ended the therapists just left without saying anything.

Overall, I had a good massage! First impressions are very important to me because it determines whether I would re-​visit an establishment or not. The lady who greeted me was very helpful and welcoming, but the older man with the british (australian?) accent who tried to hurry me along because I was late for my couples massage was obviously annoyed and addressed me in an impatient tone. Listen guy, if you want people to come back to your spa you should work on your customer service skills. Yes, we were late, but it’s not like I expected you to extend the massage past my reserved 60-​minute slot anyway.
I’ll start with the cons and end on a positive note with the pros.
Cons:
1. I was hurried into the couple’s massage room with no instructions; I had to ask and was instructed to undress to a level that I was comfortable with.
2. The thin disposable sheets used to cover our bodies for the couple’s massage were see through — the female massage therapist had to put a small towel on my chest when I turned around to lay on my back.
3. AWKWARD MOMENT DURING THE MASSAGE WHEN MY BREASTS WERE EXPOSED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE THERAPIST TRIED TO DO A WEIRD MOVE WITHOUT CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS — thankfully the male massage therapist who was with my husband was professional.
4. Both the massage therapists suddenly left without instructions after they turned the music off — we laughed and assumed we were done of course.
Pros:
1. The massage and techniques my massage therapist used on my back was great!
2. The music was very relaxing and the room was dimmed.
3. The room was simple but very clean.
4. Massage tables were heated, felt wonderful!
5. Water and a hershey kiss was provided at the front desk afterwards
Our massages were very good! I was finally able to get all the tension from my neck and back worked out and I felt more relaxed and ready for the weekend. I felt uncomfortable when the male massage therapist saw my tatas, but it wasn’t his fault. It’s not a great spa but not a bad one either; I probably won’t be back but it’s not to discourage others from trying them out.

I made an appointment over the phone for men’s body grooming full body sculpting and walked out feeling like a million bucks. The location is very easy to find in the town. The receptionist, Angel, was quick to greet and welcome me. I filled out routine paperwork and took my shoes off. I was seen early by Donya who introduced herself with a firm hand shake and warm welcoming attitude. I was taken to the room where we went over the procedure, any concerns, and how things were expected to go. I undressed and laid on the extra large comfy table and covered myself with the sheet. Shortly after, Donya returned and began the procedure. The creams had a pleasant scent and she was very careful and soothing. The entire process was relaxing. She informed me about what was occurring and what she was doing next. She was very professional every step of the way and ensured I was doing well. Afterwards I felt like a decent human being (I am very blessed with hair). I was taken to the front, given after care instructions and a card to return back soon. Johnathan, the owner, came out and introduced himself and asked how my visit was.
The entire time was wonderful. The staff is amazing and genuine. This place is a must!

I discovered this new spa in Fairfax and what a great place. Not only did I have a massage but I had my hair done as well.
The spa is new and even though they are still putting the final touches on it is an amazing place. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and Jonathan — the British owner– is warm, friendly and extremely hospitable.
My massage was excellent, very soothing and fixed the pain in my shoulder. When I returned for my second massage they added hair styling to their service.
Bruce cut and colored my hair and it looks fabulous. He was able to get the color right and the cut was great. The atmosphere was so nice, Bruce was a delight and the owner checked in on is making sure I was doing ok offering tea. If you need your hair done– ask for Bruce.
Highly recommend this place. Great value for money and worth checking it out. Let’s support this new business.
