I’ve gotten an eyebrow wax from both Stella and Maylee. Both individuals are very professional and skilled at what they do. I refuse to see anyone other than Maylee or Stella.
Hair cut & Color — 5 stars
The reason why I started coming to this salon was for Le. Le is amazing. I’ve been seeing her for almost 3 years now. I’ve learned from having so many hair dressers over the years that when you find someone who you can trust and is professional, you follow them wherever they go. I trust Le and her recommendations. She will listen to how you style your hair and your expectations in the end. She will also be honest with you about whether your expectations align with how you style your hair. She’s even taught me how to style my hair a new way that can work with my schedule. She keeps meticulous notes on each client’s previous visits so she can ensure that she gets your expectations right. I would highly recommend her to all of my friends.
Front Desk with Riat — 5 stars
Riat is often at the front desk when I come to this salon. He and Le are the reason why I continue to frequent this salon. Riat is very personable and makes every client entering the salon feel at home. From the moment, I walk in — he walks me to where I need to go, offering a beverage. During down times at the front desk, I see him walking throughout the salon to check on everyone. To the owner, pay this man well. He sets such a positive tone in your salon and makes it a memorable experience for walk-​in clients in the Mosaic district. Have him train your other receptionists and expect nothing but the best that Riat shows them.
Front Desk on Friday, February 5^th — 2 stars
For the first time since I’ve started coming to this salon, Riat was not at the front desk. Instead, there was a young lady who was nice and greeted me immediately. I had an eyebrow wax and hair appointment. She directed me (but did not walk me) to get my wax. That was fine since I knew where I was going. After my wax, I returned to her to see if Le for my hair appointment was ready for me. She said Le was not ready and asked that I have a seat. Having been here many times, I knew what to expect. I watched my clock to see how long I would wait before she asked if I wanted a beverage. It took her 10 minutes before she asked, which she promptly brought over. After another 5 minutes, another girl walked me over to the washing station and asked if I wanted any wine (of course!). Le came over and we began the hair portion of my appointment. While Le touched up my hair color, the same receptionist came by and took my (now empty) glasses, but she didn’t ask if I wanted more.
Toward the end of my appointment, my husband came in. Le had my chair situation to where I could watch for him when he arrived. I watched the receptionist sit on her phone and didn’t greet my husband. I could see my husband hesitate at the door but then saw me and sat down in the waiting area. She never greeted my husband.
At the end of my appointment, I paid. However, the receptionist never asked for me to rebook — something Riat always does when he is there.

I popped in on a whim tonight, to try the 30 minute massage. Best decision I made all day! Aprill really listened to what I wanted (to get the intense knots out of my shoulders and lower back) and then delivered exactly what I had asked for. Extremely deep tissue massage! It was great. The massage started with some lovely eucalyptus during the «breathe deep» part in the beginning. She rubbed some biofreeze all over my back afterwards, to help with the sore muscles. The $ 65 price for the 30 minute massage is less expensive than Red Door and I felt that I got a better massage. I’ll definitely be back to try a full hour!

I had a great experience here. I called on a weekday and was able to get an appointment immediately with
Zizi. The staff is super friendly and fun. The salon is gorgeous and has a very chic feel. I had A blowout and a toner process done. Zizi did an amazing job. The color looked great and it was honestly one of the best-​looking blowouts I’ve had — and I have had a ton done in the DC area and in many other cities. I will definitely be returning!

I went today afternoon to salon Nordin and the owner Nordin himself see my hair and find the problem that cause drying to my hair and this problem that I highlight my hair so much and he and zeze an amazing woman in this salon do such an amazing treatment for my hair that make it so soft and cut the end of my hair that are dead
Nordin, the owner of the salon is an amazing person, he takes care so much of my hair and gave my amazing amazing treatment for my hair that i can not find it in anywhere just in his salon and it is the perfect treatment for highlighting dry hair and zeze do the treatment at the best way

Qui and Le have recently joined Salon Nordine. I have been going to each of them for more than 10 years. Qui is an excellent esthetician and Le is the best manicurist I have ever been to. If you are in need of a facial or a manicure, please visit with them !

This review is for Sam the makeup artist. She did my makeup last night for my work holiday party. She did an amazing job! I was sooooo happy & got compliments all night. When I got home I was sad to take it off. I can’t wait to have another event & have her do my makeup again.

I moved up here from Richmond almost 4 years ago. For most of that time I made trips back home to visit my stylist in Richmond. It wasn’t feasible to continue and I decided to try this location.
My original appointment was with Julia and I instantly liked her. She asked me a lot of questions about my color and haircut style. I have fair hair but dye it red and she nails it. She’s pretty available with my ever changing schedule. I hate to admit that because she’s my little secret.
Everyone in the salon is friendly and personable. They know you by name. On my last visit I came straight from the gym and the receptionist bought me a Starbucks (I tried to pay for myself).
I have seen Stella for my brows and am excited. My last person made them uneven which isn’t easy to fix. Stella was detailed and lovely. I’m looking forward to trying a massage soon.
Now that I know about the check in discount I’m Even more excited!
***** I wanted to add an update. I have had a facial with Stella. My skin is glowing. I have had a few facials in the past and would say Stella is awesome. The experience was not only relaxing, but my skin looks great. She did a great job asking questions and giving me feedback on my skin, without pressuring me for up-​sales or product. She genuinely took care of my skin. If you want to do something healthy for yourself, with a side of pampering I recommend Stella!

I’m not an expensive salon kinda girl, but I wanted to change my dark brown hair to red and wanted it done right. Enter Salon Nordine, conveniently located in my neighborhood of Merrifield, with parking in the garage just a few outdoor steps away.
At my first visit, I saw Diana and spent several hours getting a full on dye job and cut. It all looked great, until it washed out a few days later.
For my second visit, I chose Rachel hoping for a better experience. After I explained what happened last time, she decided to use balayage, which in laymen’s terms consisted of bleaching highlights in my hair, and then applying a glaze over all of it, so the bleached parts looked more red and then the rest of my hair looked a little less red. This also looked good with my cut for a little bit. Rachel even told me I could come back within a week for free if it needed touching up. Fast forward *two* weeks and my literal $ 300 with tip visit to the salon was mostly for naught. This was in April. In November, I still have light streaks in my hair thanks to the balayage, but that’s all. The red was gone within two weeks. I’ve never felt like I wasted so much money in my life.
As for other parts of the experience, they offer wine, which is nice, and TVs showing things I actually don’t mind watching. The hair dryers are these futuristic rotating circles, which at my second visit I could tell was way too close to my head and I was concerned if I sneezed and jerked forward I was going to be severely burnt, so I had to ask another stylist to move it while mine was out of the room.
Also on my second visit, the salon owner was in and asked if I’d like a tour. I’m an introvert and feel not classy enough to be in here, so honestly, no, I didn’t, but I obliged because I’m awkward like that… and it was even more awkward than I expected with him stopping to talk at length with employees and putting his arm around my shoulder. I felt like I was in some strange 80s movie.
They also have plastic surgery brochures and flyers on the counters in several places. This really drives me nuts, and I was heartbroken when a toddler came in with her mom and was ‘reading’ them– already being told her body needs to be changed.
The hair washer girl is pretty wonderful at her job, though, btw. All in all, I’m going to go somewhere cheaper next time. I’d rather waste a little less money if my hair is just not going to stay red.

I love my stylist Angie. I have to drive a long way to get to Salon Nordine but it is worth it. Angie has worked with me for years, taking me from a short style to my now long hair. She always listens to my concerns and creates a great look. She keeps up with what is new and relevant but also understands a classic look. She is a master. Great with color and cut .
Salon Nordine is just right. I have been made to feel welcome and enjoy a treat day in the Mosaic district. No pretentions just good work. Worth going out of your way for the experience.

I stumbled upon Salon Nordine & Day Spa after attending a class at Spark Yoga in the Mosaic District. They were able to give me an appointment the same day and confirmed that a woman’s haircut (shampoo/​cut/​blow out) was $ 65. Not a bad deal considering most places start at around $ 80. Angie was my stylist and she did a wonderful job. She listened to my requests and gave me the best blow out I’ve ever had. Although my appointment was booked at the $ 65 rate, Angie charges $ 85. I got the haircut at the lower rate, but she told me if I came back in and she was my stylist it would cost $ 85. I appreciated the heads up and I would recommend Angie for a woman’s haircut. Angie is very, very good. This is the first time I’ve gotten my hair cut in ten years and not been pissed off afterwards. Also she took quite a bit of extra time to make sure everything was just right, which I appreciate. Thanks!
The salon is nice too… good atmosphere. If you’re reading this, you should play something other than the radio, the commercials don’t really match up with everything else which is quite high-​end.

I’m still a big fan of this place and a happy customer. I just want to give a shout out to the staff who are always so friendly and helpful with appointments and schedule changes. I’m happy I found this salon.

I wanted to get fixed a previous haircut I had gotten somewhere else. I figured since the salon was so pricey, they would do a good job fixing the bad haircut. I saw Zizi. She was very nice, but she did not get it right. She improved on a bit the haircut I had, but did not get it to what I was hoping for. She said she knew what I meant about how I wanted it, but in the end, she really didn’t. So now instead of the horrible haircut I had when I walked in, now I have an average haircut, not a fantastic or great haircut for the money I paid.
I am giving 3 stars instead of 2, which I think would be fitting for the haircut and price, because they were very nice in there (at least the people in that day because at a different day I went in to get information, the front desk girl was a little abrupt and hasty in manner), Zizi was also very, very nice. Plus, they put chunks of fresh fruit in the cool-​water they serve, which makes it taste wonderful. On the other hand, the faux cow-​hide chairs in the waiting area did not only make you feel itchy, but were also kitschy.

I went in for a wax with Stella (my first time). I’ve had waxing done at several places over the years, never had I experienced an aesthetician unfamiliar with your position when they wax you. I kept suggesting how I should sit, and when she accidentally spilled wax on my sandals I told her to bring the cart with wax on top closer to the bed (my sandals weren’t close, she was being careless/​clumsy when taking the wax onto the wood stick and bring it to the bed area, she got it all over the inside of my sandals!). Sad to say I won’t go again. If I do, I definitely won’t see Stella. My skin the next day looked bruised and red. I’ve never had this experience before anywhere else.

Stella is wonderful! I highly recommend her. She’s very detailed oriented. My pedicure was relaxing but did take over an hour. I appreciate not being rushed, but I wouldn’t try to squeeze in during my lunch break.
$ 55 for a pedicure is much higher than I’m used to paying but the atmosphere was very relaxing, and you can tell it’s a spa not just a nail salon.
If I wanted to really treat myself I will return, but the cost is too high for my go to pedicure place.
I do want to try a facial from Stella. She’s in her late 40s and get skin looks amazing.

The salon is still one of my favorite places to go since the opening.

If you have any kind of texture to your hair, you must see Aziza. I’d been reluctant to see any stylist for a while after my last disaster with a local ‘curly hair expert’.
Aziza really took the time to listen to my needs and what I wanted to accomplish with the cut. She does do dry cuts but because I have combination wavy/​straight hair and I wanted a long bob, she decided it was best to cut it wet. She knows all about curly hair shrinkage so I knew that I wouldn’t be walking out with shelves.
I am so pleased with my cut. She cut the length exactly as I requested and blended the out-​of-​control layers just right. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Aziza!

I love this salon. The fact that it’s a walk from where I live is a huge plus! I first visited them last year shortly after they opened, after just walking around the Mosaic District inquiring about pricing and I was quickly offered a tour. I thought that was really nice and the staff was welcoming and friendly.
Shortly after I booked a manicure and pedicure with Tina and she was great! She’s very friendly and open and has great color suggestions.
I recently started getting a Brazilian wax and it was my very first time. Mayulee is absolutely the best in the business and pays high attention to you. I recognized her from her previous spa and knew from there that she had great service because she had frequent loyal clients. I always saw them excitingly greeting each other. I am now one of them and can see why. She made my first experience a breeze (or as much of a breeze as possible haha) by being precise, swift, and conversating with me the entire time. I haven’t laughed so much in a spa service ever! She’s funny! I only see her for my waxing needs and often for my routine lip and eyebrow wax. I love how much time she spends on perfecting the brows, but yet still efficient.
I haven’t tried any other services but would assume they are also great.

I’m new to the area and needed a new hairstylist. I only had one other constant stylist in another state so I’ve been looking for one here and failed either because of the skill of the stylist and/​or customer service and comfortability.
I made an appointment online for my mother and I while she was visiting. My appointment was with ZiZi and hers with Elena.
The girl at the front wasn’t the friendliest and I don’t believe a saw a smile while I was there but she did greet us and offer a refreshment.
The tech who washed my hair was talking to someone else while she tested the water and was spraying my face at the sometime. The wash and scalp massage was fine. I had very long hair and after she washed it and wrung it out with a towel she put the same soaked towel on my shoulders. Other salons I’ve been to usually have one on my head to dry my hair and a dry towel on my shoulders so my clothes don’t become wet.
ZiZi consulted what cut I wanted prior to my wash. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she gave me feedback on how she thought the haircut should look on me and minor changes different than the picture. I agreed with her ideas and appreciated she letting me know her thoughts on any changes. I didn’t feel like she rushed through our appointment nor did she take too long. She mentioned the other services at the salon but didn’t push any services or products. My haircut turned out great and so did my mothers with Elena, who she enjoyed.
I took off a star for the girl at the front and the wash tech but didn’t want to take off too much since we really liked ZiZi and Elena. Both of us will be back.

This place isn’t the cheapest, but definitely one of the most thorough pedicures I’ve gotten. Tina makes sure to give your feet the proper care and attention and doesn’t judge when it’s clear that you’ve neglected taking care of your feet.
Again, definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for. I especially appreciate how much time and care you get here.
