Pan Am Medical & Urgent Care

This place has the worst services in the area. the staffs are unprofessional are rude. it make the whole visiting experience horrible.
I and My wife had to do tons of tests even thought we are perfectly healthy. Dr. Nguyen and Dr, Do just want to get the money from our insurance company. They work together in the same office, they refer each other in order to run so many test on us. We have perfect hearts and Dr. Nguyen refer us to see a cardiologist who is Dr. Do (they are partners). of course the tests turn out to be fine.
We have to visit their office more than 6 times in a month to do all of those stupid tests. We get advice from other doctors, and they all advise those tests are unnecessary.
I have diabetics type 2 and i waited more than 2 months for my refills. The staffs forgot to send the documents to my insurance company for verification. I came to their office, and they called the insurance company right in front of my face. the call took them 5 mins. turn out, they never done anything till I confronted them.
Please do not visit this office. they will make you think your heaths are in bad shape and ask you to do tons of test.
These doctors are Vietnamese and they manipulate all the Vietnamese customers because they have the advantage of knowing the language.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

I’ve been very pleased with the services I received at this center. The doctor or nurse practitioner has always been very professional and I feel they listen to what’s going on. The nurse and front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get in but sometimes appointment times are harder to make. I actually thought of changing from my primary care physician to this being my regular doctors office.

I called your Fairfax office at 703−281−7771 on Tuesday, May 12 requesting an appointment for my mother the following day because of an ankle injury. When I called, I specifically asked if this was the office on Nutley Street to make sure that I was calling the right place. I was told yes it was. I told the girl that I talked to that I needed to get my mother in for an ankle/​foot evaluation and x-​rays. The girl told me that they were accepting walk-​ins only because the only dr working that day would be Dr Nguyen, but that on Wednesdays they DO have an x-​ray tech on hand. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment online for the following day at 3:30, just to give them a heads up that we would be there.
We show up around 3:15 (I assumed new patient paperwork would need to be filled out), when I gave them her name, they had ZERO record of her ever having an appointment. The office was COMPLETELY empty when we walked in, so I asked if we could get her looked at anyway to get some x-​rays done. I was THEN informed that the x-​ray machine had been down for MONTHS and that I must have called the wrong place, and that I was wrong. I even was getting attitude from the girl working at the front desk.
What kind of practice are you all running?
P. S. I even checked my outgoing calls on my work phone when returning this morning, I DID in fact call the number provided (703) 281‑7771 on your website for your Pan Am Fairfax location. So it seems your employee was mistaken.

Dr. Phetpailin (Dr. Lin) = 0 stars. Front desk = 1 star. Medical assistant (male) = 4 stars.
I’ve never met such a rude doctor in my life. Very smart-​ass, cuts you off before you can even finish asking/​telling her something. Visited her for an annual physical & women’s comprehensive exam, and also regarding a minor health issue. Told her about my concerns and she goes «it’s probably the weather, since it’s getting colder — your organs shrink and makes you feel that way». Seriously? You went to med school to tell me that my problems are due to the weather and look no further into it? One week later, my little problem became a bigger issue and I was seen at the hospital. Came back to her, and then she had a change of mind on my problem. I wouldn’t be responsible for a hospital bill if this was looked into further in the beginning. Overall, no bedside manner for all the four visits and follow ups I’ve been there. I can’t speak for other doctors there but I’m not returning because of her.
Front desk — I’ve seen three different receptionists. There is only one nice receptionist, which unfortunately I cannot recall her name. But the rude, snappy one is Katie. I requested my medical records because I do not plan on returning and she immediately said no. First off, it’s my personal records and I have every right to it. Secondly, before you snap and give me an attitude — you should probably let me finish what I’m trying to say.
MA — nice assistant at every visit. Gives me update as to how much longer I have to wait on the doctor. My only thing is, I wasted a good hour there my initial visit because he couldn’t draw my blood. Doctor didn’t even bother to try it, instead waste more of my time to send me off to labcorp to get my blood drawn.
Appointments mean nothing here. They see walk-​ins and if there are a lot of walk-​ins before you arrive to your appt — expect to wait a good 1−2hrs. I’ve picked this place because of location near work and school but never returning. Overall, as a medical office — you would think the doctor and entire staff would show a bit of «kindness» or act «caring», just a little.

Went here for medical care for a year and it was awful. I would always have to wait two hours, I was never diagnosed correctly on the first visit, and they are always just looking to take your money. Switched back to my old doctor. Don’t go here!

I have been to Pan Am for different medial needs. The staff and doctors are helpful, but especially Emily at the Offices when I have gone. She is very helpful, patient, courteous and knowledgable about all of the subjects and questions I have approached her with. The doctors I have seen have been also knowledgable and helped guide me to alleviate whatever ailment I was confronted with at that time. I am a loyal patient and look forward to continued relations with Pan Am! Two thumbs up!!!

I’m surprised about the other review and want to write my own perspective. My copay there has always been $ 10 — copay issues are usually a problem with the insurance and policy/​coverage. I have seen two doctors there and they are both excellent — one is listed as a rising star by Washingtonian. They have been able to correctly diagnose me when I had problems including infected poison ivy and sciatica. Their bedside manner is very good and they convey a sense of knowledge and genuine caring. They accept people as regular patients, not just simply limited to urgent care, so it is nice to have someone who can serve as both. I will happily continue going there and would recommend them to other people.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nguyen for approximately 5 years. She is a very knowledgeable physician who will go the extra mile to figure out the problem.
She truly cares about her patients and wants to do everything she can to keep
you healthy and feeling well. I would highly recommend her.
