I’m only writing this because SOMEHOW I found someone on my Friends List who supports them, so I might as well give my two cents.
They are nothing more than the Islamic State’s greatest ally: arming those who by heavily into dangerous Muslim stereotypes and fanning their fire. They have consistantly blocked all attempts in enforce background checks and regulations, thereby enabling those with no business being near assault rifles to purchase them. They have furthered their empire on fear-​mongering, tricking others into believing that their guns will be taken away and providing them with a full-​blown arsinal. Thanks to them, a man on the Terror Watch list was able to purchase an AR-​15 and kill 49 innocent people.
If children couldn’t have moved you almost four years ago, nothing ever will. I will spend the rest of my life doing everything in my power to release your stranglehold on my country. ISIS doesn’t scare me, but you and your supporters do!

Thank u for opposing reduction of magazine size. Reloading is kept to a minimum. Have to be able to shoot the entire herd.

Love NRA. They put my money to good use. And I know my membership is making a difference!

I joined 6 months ago because I wanted to support the NRA. Now I am starting to regret that decision. I am being overwhelmed with emails to buy this and donate to that. Seems like every time I opt out of one email, another one rolls in.
I recently received a DVD and coin with a letter stating it was a free gift and I could sign up for the series. If I didn’t want it, I needed to send back the DVD but was under no obligation to send it back. Today I received another letter from them stating it was a free gift but I need to reply what my intentions are and they list my two choices.
1. Yes I am keeping it and enclosed is my first payment…
2. No. I’m returning the DVD…
I hope their marketing strategy changes before it comes time for me to decide to renew my membership!

Much like the AARP, the American Federation of Teachers, the AFL-​CIO and other political organizations, the NRA exists to represent its members interests. It accepts donations and offers memberships to individuals in order to support the Second Amendment and the rights of Americans to own and carry firearms.
I joined the NRA for a year, initially. I’ve since extended my membership to be a «Life Member» which is especially easy now as they have a program to accept $ 25 payments on a quarterly basis until the membership fee is paid off. Neat!
Tip: There have been a number of recent stories of criminals breaking into cars parked in front of gun-​free zones (theaters, malls, etc) that display NRA decals in hopes of finding a stored firearm in the glove box or center console. While it is great to show support for the NRA, it might be better to not advertise the possibility of a gun in the car.

Be aware that the on-​line store gave me 4 weeks of grief. Apparently the workers don’t have enough training and oversight in regards to filling orders accurately. The site took my order, said it was back ordered, then later said it was discontinued but it was still for sale in the catalog. After a few exchanges of e-​mails i was told it was available in another color so finally after numerous e-​mails I was sent the item in another color. The whole system needs to be examined. The product was great after I finally received it.

While I am not a gun owner myself, I have often taken visiting friends and family members who I know like guns to their museum. It is, in all reasonableness, a good museum, even if it’s also flagrantly politicized. I do know the shooting range is top notch — hell, if everyone was required to take an NRA course before they owned a gun, I think our whole gun issue would be a lot better off.
That being said, it’s impossible for me to review this place without the politics. Every step you take in the building feels like a descent into pure propaganda — and while it’s all pitched at «gun owner rights» it becomes clearer and clearer that it’s really about supporting gun manufacturers. Even the museum places more emphasis on who made the guns than who used them.
The NRA’s museum and shooting range could do a lot to reach out to people like myself who do not think too highly of them, instead they blow it by pandering to their base.

OK, so they have a crusty old face and they’re out of touch with you the young urban smart people. You don’t think any reasonable person needs a semiautomatic whateverthafuck. So?
So, if you value your right to own a gun at all (even if you don’t actually own one), you may want to rethink why you aren’t a member. That right isn’t going to be around for very long without you.
NRA is a lobby, plain and simple. It’s a lobby of regular people voting with their dollars, because that’s all that matters anymore. Dollars buy TV, dollars buy elections. Not people wearing buttons, not bumper stickers, not hanging signs from the freeway overpass. Dollars. If you want to be treated like some European child-​citizen by your government, well, I wish you’d move there (with Howard S.). Or stay here and do nothing.
Or do something like make your dollars count and give a couple to these old farts.
