I was referred to this shop by my friend. Once I picked up my Evo 9, John was very helpful in doing an examination on the car and informing me what issues needed to be addressed. Aside from oil changes and tire rotations, Moore has completed work ranging from alignments to rebuilding the clutch. Recently, I had them upgrade the cams, injectors, fuel pump and supporting mods for E85. Chris is a great tuner and I am currently running dual map 93 /​E85 and happy with the performance of the car. I also included a pic from autocross, not intending to brag, but show that the car is not babied in any way. I plan to keep using it for motorsports. Any time you modify a car past a certain point, there are risks and a great tuner is essential. The guys at Moore have been helpful, no matter what the problem. Highly recommended.

horrible experience! will never ever go back nor recommend this place! dropped off my car for a built. after 19 months and spending tons of money the car won’t start. started diagnosis or should say misdiagnosis and bill started to go up like a rocket. ended up taking the car to a different shop and, of course, paid the other shop for moore’s mistakes. they are very expensive and lie that they can do any job. well, after you are in you are in for a big surprise. they get you!
One minor example is they made Intercooler piping kit (NO CORE JUST PIPING) for $ 550 and installation was $ 660, that’s $ 1,210 just for piping and installation. Ridiculous thing is that they used parts of my original piping kit to made theirs. So in the end I didn’t have my original piping kit which I could’ve sold for easy $ 400 and $ 1,210 for theirs. So this piping kit cost me $ 1,610. SCAM SCAM SCAM!

I’ve been taking my car to Moore for my performance needs for the past couple of years. They have very experienced technicians and a very good tuner. Their location is great for people in NoVA. I had been taking my car to IAG, but it’s just too far to go especially if I needed some major work done.
Moore recently installed a new engine and turbo kit on my Subaru. It began as a engine rebuild job, but the engine was too far gone so I bought a brand new replacement engine. The turbo kit required custom fabrication of intercooler piping, down pipe and uppipe. Custom fabrication of an oil cooler mounting bracket to fit in the original TMIC location was also required. Lastly custom coolant reservoir and overflow tanks were necessary as the custom intercooler piping prevented the OEM tanks from being used.
While the car was in the shop I also had a new set of Coilovers installed, and some smaller things like Hella Horns installed and HID Headlights wired up.
Moore did a top notch job in making all the custom parts, and when the job was done the car runs flawlessly. The tune by Chris is great.
I think this shop is getting a lot of work now and scheduling and work load management is an area which they need to improve. Work on my car progressed at a fairly slow rate which was a bit frustrating.

I’ve been taking my Hondas here since the 1980’s. I had an emergency fix that my car needed (part of my car got dislodged when I ran over a curb) and they took care of it unbelievably fast, as it was late in the day and I knew no one else could help. They have my loyalty forever now.

Wow, I normally dont give out 5 stars unless I REALLY like the place. Well, this place is awesome. This shop is hands down THE place to go for Evo’s, Subie’s, and most sports cars. I had a dyno tune on my car last week and didnt have a ride home so I had to sit there the entire day. The sitting area is relatively small so I got to listen first hand how intelligent these guys are and they REALLY know their stuff. I had an issue with my tune (an honest overlook) a couple days later and took it in this morning and they fixed it in seconds. Super friendly, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, they will have my business from here on out on my Evo!

The guys at Moore are awesome. 5 star service. I went in for a dyno tune and I got there 30mins before shop opened. I changed my injectors in front and the even came out to lend a helping hand! Once inside the tuned my car until they got to a power level they were ok with for the day. Even though afterwards shared with me some things that was causing my car for not making the power they expected! Will definitely be going back for everything I need! Highly recommended service professionals that are all certified and I house fabrications.

Excellent experience. I got a UpRev tune on the DynoJet Machine for my 370Z, the Technician, Chris was OUTSTANDING. He really took the time to get everything right on my car. I was VERY VERY happy with the experience, and even more comfortable having him work on my car. I will definitely be using Moore Automotive in the future as their facility is top notch and the staff were all very professional. Thanks fellas for a job well done today. Thank you!

Thank you Chris Hoover for installing my AEM wideband gauge on my 2012 EVO X… and rolling my fenders. Chris stayed late on a Friday night to finish the job (got me in within 24 hour request). Moore does quality work and for a reasonable price.

So shopping around on performance car forums, I was looking for a place to install my cats/​exhaust and dyno tune my car. Performance tuning generally doesn’t come cheap because people who waste money on dumb things like performance cars are usually dumb enough to pay inflated prices for services related to their overpriced vehicles.
So anyway, when I was quoted a price less than half of their two closest competitors, I definitely raised an eyebrow. Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect seeing as I have never done something like this before but Chris and Bill were awesome. So let’s see… I dropped my car and since I was going to be stranded for the day, they drove me 10 miles to Fair Oaks mall so I’d have something to do, then drove back and picked me up after the exhaust install so that I could watch the tune and put up with my endless questions.
On top of all that, they have multiple Unilocal specials which — when all was said and done, brought them in at ¹⁄₃ the price of my 2^nd choice option. Just ridiculous.
For the car nerds among you, these guys don’t use a preset tune to flash your ECU, give you your 2 dyno pulls and walk away. Nooo if you go with these guys, you’re in it for the long haul so come prepared. Bring a book or something. I lost count at 9 pulls with cooldowns in between but we started at ~3:30pm with the tune and finished at 7pm. Also might want to invest in some ear plugs depending on what you drive… or don’t! There’s a handy free earplug dispenser attached to the wall. I strongly suggest you use it.
The guys who run this shop are clearly all friends and are a really nice change of pace from stuffy larger shops that are clearly annoyed by your (my) presence. I asked tons of questions and was never met with eye rolling. I sort of want to find more things to do with my car just to hang around their shop and learn.
Put simply: This is a tune shop for people who love cars. Highly recommended.

Recently I decided I was not going to review places until I had been a few times. Seems more fair considering it aleays possible to catch things at a bad time. So here is an update on a past review made after only one visit. My experience is the same and service consistent.

Purchased a used Audi a year ago and used the dealer for service that was covered under the certified used coverage. Decided to take this car to Moore after the covered services ended and the price of future services shocked me. I dont know why, but I genuinely don’t like using the dealer for routine maintenance. Seems to be overkill considering my dad always changed his own oil and rotated his own tires personally and his vehicles lasted forever. Maybe I am jaded…
Funny that during a tire rotation at Moore a few months ago Chris actually pointed out that I had a bent rim on the car, which was obviously like that from when I purchased it, because of the way the tires were cupped. The shaking was only slight and they didn’t push new tires on me but said to revisit it in a few months because the tred was more than adequate. Basically its perfectly safe but the shake may be considered annoying. The dealer told me previously that it was because the car is AWD and I need new tires immediately. I did recently decide to get new tires through Moore and they suggested that I swap out the bent one with the full size spare. Tires are now balanced and wearing perfectly.
As a part of a recent service they needed to replace the cabin air filter. The shop likes to use original Audi replacement parts but did offer options… example my cabin air filter. I can appreciate and personally require original Audi parts for most things but does it really matter for a cabin air filter? The non-​Audi filter seems fine and significantly less expensive. These sorts of tweaks bring down the overall cost of these required services. Prices are good here and they are nice enough to deal with my plethora of questions about any and everything. Another plus is that they are convenient to get to and are normally available with little notice. Things remain good.

I love this place and trust them more than any mechanics I have ever used. They are upfront and honest, do the work quickly and at a fair price. Everyone who works there has always been very curious to us and over the 20+ years we have used them they have worked on 5 cars for us.

My seat broke in my pickup truck and I took it to Moore Automotive for them to fix it. The guys were pretty arrogant and rude on the phone but I didn’t really think anything of it because i thought that was how most mechanics acted. My wife went to pick up my truck for me with a friend when it was done because I was at work. When they brought it to me I immediately noticed a MASSIVE dent in the passenger door. Maybe calling it a dent doesn’t even do it justice. It looked as if a car had run into the side of the truck going at least 15 mph. I immediately took the truck back to them and all they would say was «Didn’t happen here. Didn’t happen here. Didn’t happen here.» If My seat broke again and they were the only company on earth who could fix it, I would rather take the seat out myself and sit on a bucket. Absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. If i could give them negative 200 stars I would.

I want to start off by saying I had high hopes for this place. They state they do everything from inspections, oil changes, to performance part installs and dynojet runs. I wanted some custom exhaust work done on my car so I called in to schedule a time for an estimate, they told me to bring it in. This is sorta where it all starts to fall apart.
I bring it in and end up waiting 2 hours to have them jack my car up. Ok I can see they are busy so I understand. They then quote me 2hrs for the job. 2hrs! (I just need my old muffler cut and a new muffler put on with addition of custom bent pipe and some hangers) Mind you I took it to Monro and they quoted me 1 hr. The owner, Chaz, tells me they will do higher quality work than Monro and really take the time. So we settle on a price of 200 included everything (100/​hr labor). He tells me bring it in the next morning, the welder will be there around 830am. Great! I can finally get my muffler put on!
I bring it in by 815am. 845am. No welder. 9am. No welder. 915am, I’m told the welder called out. So basically I’ve wasted an hr of my life there + hour of driving. The owner isn’t there yet, so I told them to have him call me and maybe we can work something out.
Entire day goes by, no call.
Next day, another tech calls me, asking if I want to schedule. I tell him to have the owner give me call.
No call.
Couple hours later, I call, still only speaking with the tech and tech tells me, the owner is sorry but won’t budge on the price and that I can take it to other places but they will just hack it up.
Goodbye Moore Automotive for future installs for me and my friends.
Owner doesn’t care for customer satisfaction. There are plenty of places that do high quality custom exhaust work. Why do they think they are the best in the area?

I used to go to Moore for everything my ’95 Honda or ’98 Toyota truck needed. I’ve been going there for over 13 years.
HOWEVER, the place has new ownership now and I will never take any vehicle to them again. I had one bad experience after another over the past few months. I took the car in for a routine oil change and left there with a non-​working water temp gauge. They lost a screw during some work and no replacement was available. They promised to fix it at no charge, but when I took it back (I’d called to be sure it was OK that I come in), they didn’t have the screw. I had to take it back (and take my time to drive there, leave it and pick it back up) 3 times for them to actually fix the problem.
After the 120K mile servicing at the final fixing of the gauge, my car overheated for the first time ever. I found that my radiator was mostly empty, which tells me they didn’t really complete all the services they said they do during the 120K servicing. What else didn’t they do? I have no idea.
The staff is generally unfriendly (unlike the original Moore guys).
Nevermore…nevermore.

I’ve been taking my 1999 Honda Accord sedan here for service since I bought it back in 1999 — instead of the Honda Dealership. Word of mouth for this place — along with high ratings from Washington Consumers Checkbook led me to try them.
They provide high quality, timely, and cost effective service — a better deal all around than the Honda dealership — and all of their work is better quality than the dealership. I think they only work on imports — check ahead to see if they service your make and model of vehicle.
I has to check the car in the shop again yesterday — needed an oil change, a new battery, and I wanted them to give the car the once over to insure it would pass both the VA State Safety and Emissions inspections — and then get it inspected for me. I also wanted them to eyeball the car and check for oil leaks — seems like it is going through oil very fast — and I’ve been unable to find any leaks, nor detect and oil burning.
I dropped the vehicle off yesterday about 1:00 pm. It was ready 24.5 hours later. I picked up the vehicle today at 1:30 pm — paid a very reasonable bill — and proceeded to head off to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to renew my auto registration.
The place is not much to look at compared to modern auto dealerships — but I don’t care about that when I go to Moore — I know they know what the hell they are doing — and they won’t manufacture a bunch of bogus repairs that I don’t need!
