I’ve visited this doctor 3 times, and each experience was horrible, in my humble opinion. During each visit, I waited what I felt like was an inordinate amount of time both to be called back to the consultation room and while in the consultation room waiting for the doctor. And once I was finally called on, I felt that the office staff and the doctor were rude, rushed, and generally unhelpful. I also felt that the doctor did not listen to my concerns or answer my questions.

This negative review has to do with the egregiously long wait times and lack of courtesy I experienced at Dr. Hema Sundaram’s office on March 12th. I had an appointment scheduled for 12:40pm and was not seen until 2:00pm! I walked out of the consultation room after 30 minutes of waiting and found a physicians assistant or resident in the hall and asked him about the delay. He had no idea but remarked that another patient was also wondering when she would be seen. He informed me that he would try to find about the delay but apparently did not because fifteen minutes feeling abandoned in the consult room and sending dozens of angry texts to my friends, I walked out of the room again with my bag in tow, marched to the front desk and told them how absurd it was to wait one hour and fifteen minutes to be seen. The kind nurse must have run over to fetch her highness because Dr. Hema came running around the corner with the standard, generic apologies but no explanations. I told her directly it was not reasonable to expect a patient to wait over an hour to be seen. Of course what ensued was a rushed Q&A. Her treatment shows an utter disregard for the patient and their time. I did further express my dismay upon checking out, explaining to them that perhaps Dr. Hema would try to implement a better scheduling system since she clearly cannot keep up with her patients.

Don’t go there, no interest in the patient at all. They asked for the copay before I even saw the doctor. Saw the doc for may 5 mins. she did not even look at me, just asked why I was here for and then wrote me a generic prescription without explaining what is was, how and how long to use. No interest in the patient at all. Her staff handed me a mail in rebate for the prescription that did not even match the prescribed item. Very disappointed. Will not go back for the follow up appointment.

I’ve been going to Dr Sundaram for 5 years and I’m not sure if I thought the next time would be better but I can’t believe I stuck with her for so long! After waiting 30min-1 hour, she rushes in to do a 5 min evaluation and then recommends an expensive régime that ultimately does nothing for you but put a hole in your wallet. I have a laundry list of products and procedures she’s recommended for me and none of them did anything major. Not to mention, there’s about a month wait to even get an appt with her. Forget any discussions about practical things you can do through nutrition or lifestyle. Maybe there’s just a lack of good dermatologists in this area but stay away. It’s not worth it to waste your time!
