History

Established in 2001.

Dr. Stark attended Juniata College for her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, and received her Bachelor of Science in Optics and her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO). While attending PCO she received Honors in Clinical Care at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, and Honors at The William Feinbloom Low Vision Institute (where the majority of patients evaluated have glaucoma, macular degeneration or are legally blind). Her training included externships at The Veterans Administration Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where clinical experience mainly focused on patients with glaucoma, diabetes, and ocular diseases. This hospital training also included morning lectures at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Additional clinical rotations were completed at the Pediatrics Clinic at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and specialty contact lenses training at a private practice in Maryland. Dr. Stark has been in practice in Virginia for over nineteen years.

Dr. Stark is a wonderful, friendly, and thorough doctor. I have been going to her for about five years now and just adore her. She is so caring and kind, and I always feel that she is very competent and explains everything thoroughly to me. I will keep going back as long as I am in the area.
Her staff are generally friendly too, and helped me pick out some really nice frames. I appreciate their advice on frames, as they all seem to look similar after a while.
Great doctor, would recommend her to everyone.
EDIT: Tried going to a different doctor as my insurance changed and after that visit, I decided to switch back to Dr. Stark even paying out of pocket. Another plus is that it is fairly easy to get appointments with her on very short notice, and you don’t have to wait weeks to see her as with other doctors.

Dr. Stark and her office staff are excellent. I had red eyes and was in pain. When I called the staff, they put me in the first spot they could get. I went through the check in less than 1 hour including me getting to the office 15 minutes early to fill up forms with my new insurance information. Dr. Stark was friendly and professional as usual. I visited the office 3 – 4 times. In between I switched to other optometrist because Dr. Stark office didn’t cover the insurance I had. But I had bad experience in other place and ended up going back to her place and I got cured immediately. Other nice thing is that her staff literally ran out of the door to stop me so I could get a nice coupon to save me almost $ 100 on prescription. I would recommend every one if you got red eyes to cure :)

I love Dr. Stark and have recommended many people to her and they love her as well! She is so thorough and really takes her time with each exam. The office is very clean and her staff are friendly and very professional. I am a new patient and was very happy with the service, professionalism of dr. Stark and staff, the eye exams were thorough and not rushed at all. I was fitted with both contacts and glasses and dr. Stark patiently explained all the options, according to my prescription. She was efficient, yet friendly with a sense of humor, the staff were also efficient, experienced and accomodating, I was able to fully use my insurance plan, with lots of glasses frames to choose from. The only caveat is be prepared to spend a little extra time because this is a one woman office. Also, the glasses are supposed to take over 5 to 10 business days… but this may be a typical turnaround. Overall, very pleased with this office and will send the rest of my family there too.

I am so impressed with the level of care I received at Dr. Stark’s office. Not only was the staff patient (as I spent a half an hour trying on frames) but they were also friendly and kind. Dr. Stark’s explanations were thorough and she patiently answered all of my many, many questions. Excellent experience all around.

I just recently had first visit at Dr. Stark’s office (Visual Image Eyecare Associates) — I’ve dealt regularly with optometrists my entire life; Dr. Stark spent the most time with me in exam, capturing my history, answering my questions and concerns, and she has a delightful personality to boot. Her thoroughness was impressive; her staff was friendly and detail-​oriented; they did not «hurry» me in and out when choosing glasses, they were very helpful in finding me the right frames. They handled my insurance and did their best to find the «best deal» for my choices. I’ve since received my glasses; I am a very happy client. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in any medical office where the doctor/​staff spent so much time with me. 5 stars from this four-​eyed Unilocaler, I highly recommend!

She is a really, really great and thorough doctor. She takes her time with you and really seems to care that you are comfortable and happy — she’ll even take time to help you choose frames and give you her opinion. That may seem silly, but if you go to the Hour Eyes type places, the difference is absolutely night and day. I have stayed with her despite moving from the area because I doubt I’ll find anyone better.
As others mentioned, her staff is professional and helpful as well. And she has a very, very, very clean office!
Edit: I just went again for my annual appointment, and remain confident in my 5-​star rating. She is simply wonderful. I typically order my contacts through another vendor, but they more or less matched the price, so I ordered from her office this time. Once again, she was thorough, she always engages me in conversation, and is just so thorough and competent. Her staff has always been extremely professional to me as well, and this time was no exception. I live far from the office now, and I still take the time to drive out to Fairfax to go see her — that’s how good she is.

This was the first eye doctor I went to when I first moved to the area. I had gone back in ’09 I believe. What I remember on my first impression was that she was a good doctor and I liked her. But the reason I gave her 2 stars is because of the way she reacted when I requested something. I have been wear gas permeable contacts for as long as I can remember and when I went in to see her, I was asking about switching to soft. Switching to the soft was not good for me at all and when I told the Dr of my issues/​concerns she came back to me and said that I couldn’t go back to gas permeable. I didn’t like the fact that she refused to put me back on to gas permeable because she found soft much better regardless that I was putting in eye drops every 30mins and could barely keep my eyes open so it appears as if I’m constantly squinting.

I absolutely adore Dr. Stark — she’s super nice, engaging and most importantly a great eye doctor. I’ve had problems trying to make contact lenses work for me and she was able to find me the perfect pair — FIRST TRY.
The office staff is also very friendly and helpful with figuring out insurance questions. Great selection of high end (as well as reasonably priced) frames and sunglasses too.
