My brakes were pretty much done. There was grinding and hissing and all sorts of stuff you don’t want your car to do when you simply want to stop.
Unilocal is awesome. It got me 10 quotes back for services. Briar Oaks was the most convenient service and the best priced.
I dropped my vehicle off at around 8 one evening. It was ready around 11:30 the next day. Quick, courteous service and it didn’t break the bank. I’ll be coming back here for all my car care needs in the future. I really appreciate being back to pick my car up the very next day and having my brakes done for less than an arm and a leg.

Disgusting service. Rude. Kept me waiting and then asked me to leave because it’s almost 5pm.
I recently moved into the area and thought I’d go to a closest service station for emissions inspection. Reached at 4:30pm.
The young boy told me wait in line behind the stop sign.
After about 15 mins of waiting, the manager in the blue suit comes and says «we cannot take you» !!
We shut down at 5pm and we will not get to service you in time before 5pm.
What the ***?!
Rediculous self centered and dumb people working here.
Don’t waste time in this place.

I found Briar Oaks Exxon on Unilocal and requested a quote. Within 30 minutes the shop manager Steve responded with an affordable price to have parts that I separately purchased put on my car. When I actually went to the shop and met Steve was very helpful and knowledgeable. He even got my car back to me in good timing. If I ever need work again, I would definitely come back here.

Best auto repair shop I’ve been to in years!
Came here for a state inspection. My car failed, which wasn’t surprising (I knew there was a problem with the car). They offered to fix it for a reasonable price. I mentioned a couple other issues I’ve been experiencing while driving and, when I got my car back, they fixed it all :)
The manager, Steve, explained everything that was done. I did a bit of research on the Internet and it matches with what he said. My car drives so much smoother now.

DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR SAFETY INSPECTION.
Read the other reviews, this place CANNOT be trusted!!! Even though this is a convenient location next to the Fair Oaks DMV, THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. I am almost positive that they profiled me since I was a young, single Asian woman and looked like I could be easily sold on unnecessary services. You might be able to get an honest inspection if you are a dude.
I took my car here yesterday to get it inspected and they failed me because they claimed I needed to change my rear brakes and tires. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. Just last year I got a set of new tires from JiffyLube, my brakes have always been super responsive and I rarely ever drive my car (I moved to NYC for a time period and now I mostly carpool with others).
When they told me that I had failed, I instantly suspected something was wrong. When the manager saw that I wasn’t willing to back down, he dismissively walked away. I guess he realized he couldn’t get a sale out of me.
I told my boyfriend about what happened and he insisted that he take my car to another location to get a second opinion. LO AND BEHOLD: MY CAR PASSED. The people at the other inspection location said my car should never have failed.
Let’s examine the facts: Asian girl takes car to this location and fails on four counts. White guy takes SAME CAR to ANOTHER LOCATION THE VERY NEXT DAY and passes with flying colors. I’ll just leave it at that.

They’ll take care of you right. Today I had a very good experience with the manager Steve.
After today, I can honestly say he cares about you and your safety while driving your car. He’s not in business to rip you off, but to keep you safe. And thats how things should be. We need more people in the world like Steve. Just down right good people. I will definitely be back for any other repair needs.

A trustworthy mechanic is worth his/​her weight in gold. Have taken several cars here over the last few years and always have reliable service at a reasonable price. Never posted a review before (shame on me) even though I’ve always been happy! This past Friday I was driving along Lee Jackson when my car just stopped. Battery completely toast, not even enough power for my hazards. Luckily Briar Oaks Exxon was within sight — I called them and in less than two hours time they had diagnosed the problem, gotten the part in, and fixed it — all for a very reasonable price. Thank you!

Good prices, pretty well trained (Master ASE technicians) and service writer. Place is old but the staff is very concerned about diagnosing the customers’ concern wright the first time. It’s very convenient since it has of a selection of drinks and snacks and a post office outlet. The crew is honest and fair. I would recommend it to anyone since I have been to other places and were full of B.S.

The people were very friendly here but unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this as I’m not sure they can be trusted. I took my BMW here for a state inspection. I was shocked to hear that the car failed. Briar Oaks offered to give me an estimate to do the repair but I let them know I had an extended maintenance warranty with BMW and would be seeing if it was covered. Briar Oaks asked if I was sure as they would be cheaper than BMW and gave me a sales pitch about their technicians. Long story short, I took the car to BMW to be told by BMW’s state inspector that the car should not have failed inspection.
I’m not a car expert but I find that troubling and wanted to let other Unilocalers know.

Have taken many cars to them over the years. Always the best price and service in town. Constantly better and cheaper than the Lexus dealerships around here.
Steve the service manager is above honest, and will always work with you, and no i am not related to him :-)
He also recommends other great local places, if he doesn’t do the work himself, such as rebuilding a transmission.

I had my emissions and VA state inspection done here last week. There were two cars ahead of me, one in inspection and one in line. It didn’t take long to get through the line on a weekday morning with a dedicated technician doing inspections. Between waiting for the car ahead of me to go through and for my car to be finished, I was done within an hour. I definitely plan to use them in the future.
There is also an indoor seating area, with about five or six seats for comfortable waiting. There are also benches outside.

You can rarely find an Auto Shop that has legit Certified Auto Techs. Mr. Glover assisted me in the entire process. He was very accomodating, knowledgable and very professional. He made sure that i get an A+ service from drop off to pick up. Keep it up. I surely recommend this Auto Shop. You get excellent service for a fair price. Now im very confident to drive my car with my little boys. And to Mr. Glover, a big Thanks.

The place has state inspection, emissions, all kinds of stuff for your car (basically any make) and you can ship USPS from there!
I’ve been coming here ever since I got my car (4 years). The service people are really nice, the manager Steve is very insightful with what needs to be done with your car.
The prices are really fair I think. I was estimated for a timing belt change, water pump change and orther miscellaneous things and it was cheaper than everywhere else. They tell you in detail whats wrong, how it happened and what needs to be done to fix it.
My reason for a 4 star rating: I get my oil changed here 3 times a year. I order my own oil and filter because I get it at a reduced rate. Today I go in and I was told that from here on out, I HAVE to use their oil, I cant bring in my own oil.
This is just for them to make more money which makes total sense. I will be doing that after this oil change since I already have my oil bought.
The prices for gas are 20 cents more than .2 miles down the road. My 4 years of coming here I have never and will never fill up gas there.
The owner and his employees are reallllllly nice and helpful. They are good people there, the customer service keeps me going back.

What’s not to like? Get your car inspected here, post a package, pick up a snack and fill your tank. I may be getting some work done at the garage here, so I’ll update if needed. So far, I’m fine with this place and have been using their services without any real trouble for some time now… call it three or four years.

Waited 30 minutes as the first car in line for an inspection. Went inside and asked if I was supposed to notify someone they said «No, they’re doing a car now and will be with you shortly.» After the 30 minutes I left. My normal place only takes about 10 minutes per car. Was hoping this would be my new, closer, location but I guess not.

I have to say we have been going to Briar Oaks Exxon for years for service. Their mechanics are very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. They are very honest there and the manager, Steve Blake, is very nice and helpful and tells you exactly what needs to be done and nothing more. They only do what needs to be done and they try to save you money. I can’t say enough about this place. They also have good snacks and I get their gas as well. If you’re having trouble with your car, don’t hesitate to take it to Briar Oaks Exxon.

Moved from California and took my car in to get a safety inspection and emission test. I have a 2007 BMW and unfortunately had a few problems, I was surprised to find such reasonable people at Briar Oaks Exxon. I’ve never met a Service Manager more interested in working with customers and just making it work. I had my o2 sensors replaced on my car and it took weeks for the car to pass emissions and Briar Oaks worked with me the entire time and finally got it all passed.
I later took my car in for what I thought was an oil leak, worried it was the last nail in my car’s coffin and the service manager explained it was a simple fix. I felt my headache go away right away, knowing I found some true and honest people to bring my car to.
I highly recommend Briar Oaks Exxon for any issue you have with your car. Talk to the Service Manager about what the problems are, you’ll be glad you did.

Steve and his team are definitey the best around. I’ve used them a number of times. This time I thought that I needed some work that was going to be upwards of $ 300-​$ 400. Steve laughed, said he was pretty sure it wasn’t as serious as I thought it was, and that a simple $ 18 repair would fix everything. Probably the only mechanic that will disagree with you when you’re trying to spend a lot more money! I seriously recommend this place for any repairs.

Beware! The price of gas is 20 cents higher than anywhere else. The pump is also inaccurate. TOTAL Rip off.
