This is solely based on getting my eyebrows threaded. I walked in and was quickly seen. The lady Swati or Sashi (bad with names) wasn’t there but I was in dire need of getting my eyebrows done. I had letting my eyebrows grow out after a bad experience at Tysons mall. I had asked for them to be cleaned up, I had already basically grown out my eyebrows to look like they were drawn on, just needed a few pesky hairs removed… Long story short my eyebrows went from being thick to shoe string fry thin… I was in shock and couldn’t believe it, I literally had gotten them done for my birthday weekend and wasn’t happy at all. They weren’t even the same shape anymore. I literally grown out my eyebrows for two months only too have them thin again. Only reason I am not giving this 1 star is because I know the lady meant well. I honestly will probably go back but only if my usual eyebrow lady is there, otherwise I may start looking elsewhere.

Normally, I make the drive down 50 to my usual place, but when fuzzy eyebrows threaten to obscure your vision, you make do.
I was craving some Thai food and popped my head into Appearances (right next door) wondering if they had a threader on staff and lucky for me, they did! It was a short wait before I was very comfortably reclined in a chair, eyes closed while the rhythmic zipper-​like motions against my brow commenced. A quick check in the mirror to make sure we were tracking and it was off to the races again. I am pleased with the results and know that my lazy (read entirely too busy right now) butt will be making another visit shortly.
While well-​worth it, this place charges $ 15 which was a bit of a sticker shock to my usual $ 7 – 8 place. Also, several of the passes she made were quite painful (not terrible, but I am used to little to no pain), but I might be a little extra sensitive right now. I should have popped an aspirin before visiting.
Good to know — this is primarily a salon for hair, but they do all kinds of spa services here. Just check before you go and I do actually recommend making an appointment.

I get my eyebrows threaded and tinted here for about 5 years. Roya is a stylist and is awesome! She is very friendly and accommodating and always come to tint my eyebrows as soon as I arrive. Such a nice lady. The women that do the threading often change. They do a nice job though.

I never write reviews; I usually just rely on others reviews because I’m selfish ;-) but have to post one for this salon because it was that bad.
First, on the eyebrow threading: I asked the lady to give me as much of an arch as she could but not to leave my eyebrows too thin. I had been growing my eyebrows out for literally three months. Well, I now have eyebrows as thin as when I was in my early twenties (that was the look I was going for then) and no arch to speak of. I know other reviewers had great eyebrow threading experiences at this salon; I, unfortunately, did not.
Massage: I bought a groupon for a 60minute hot stone massage and asked to add on 30 minutes. And let me start off by saying that I have had over a dozen massages in my life so have some basis for comparison.
The room was tiny which would be fine if everything else weren’t a problem. First, there is no music so the only thing you hear is the ticking timer. I don’t know about you but that isn’t relaxing to me. The sheet they cover you with is pretty small so it doesn’t entirely cover you and yes, at some point, the sheet will be moved around so that they can work on the different parts of your body but as someone who gets cold easily, I’d like my feet covered while they’re working on my back for example. The towel where you put your face smells lemony, almost like a cleaning product, and again not something that I find very relaxing.
When the lady entered the room, she moved the sheet over me to the point where she completely lifted it off my body; this isn’t something I’ve experienced elsewhere where they will just adjust the sheet as need be to give you some semblance of privacy; no semblance here! And the sheet was place haphazardly on me, not covering my feet. She didn’t ask me what areas I would like to focus on as did every other massage therapist I’ve seen. When she started the massage, she started asking me questions (if my husband bought me the groupon, what I do, where I work, she mentioned traffic being bad tomorrow because of the pope’s visit) but she finally gave up after I kept responding with one word each time. I am used to massage therapists not asking questions beyond «how is the pressure» because most people like to relax during a massage and not engage in conversation. These are all minor things to be frank, the worst part was the massage itself. The lady was essentially just rubbing oil, with featherlike strokes, over my body without kneading me or trying to get the knots out at all. I asked her, several times, to use more pressure and it didn’t seem like she understand what I meant because she (a) asked me to explain what I meant by pressure and when I tried to use other words, she (b) just ended up moving her hands faster and sort of slapping my body, all without kneading my knots. She then left the room without saying that she was stepping out, which I found disconcerting. The door to the room swings open easily and it didn’t seem like she tried too hard to only slightly open the door so as to not allow anyone outside to see inside. When she started using the hot stones, she did the same thing as with her hands: moving the stones around my back in a featherlike motion without any kneading. 20 minutes into my massage, I left. Again, I’ve had massages; this was the worst massage that I have ever had and a waste of my time and money.
Now, when I went out and spoke with the manager, she said that she could not reimburse me for a groupon but would use the groupon to cover my eyebrow threading. When I told her, calmly (honestly!) that I understand that it was not her fault but that I would be posting a review, she became very worried, more so than when I initially told her about how bad my experience was. Finally, she asked me to write down my number in case the company could do something for me, and as I was about to start writing my number down, she said (I’m paraphrasing) «but only if you don’t post a review.» When I asked her if this was a quid pro quo, she said yes. At that point, I said that it doesn’t work that way, said goodbye and left. I mention this because I find it striking and somewhat appalling that, instead of doing her best to rectify the situation or address it in some manner, she only got nervous when I mentioned a review and then tried to essentially bribe me…
I would give this salon, for massages and eyebrows anyway, less than one star if I could, and I’m not being harsh for the sake of being harsh; I’m being flat out, simply, honest.

Got my eye brows done here on the way to a meeting with a client. Probably the best threading job I’ve had in a very long time. I prefer waxing most times but this lady was perfect. She even did mu mustache which i was terrified of getting threaded. Now I’m smooth like a babies bottom. Eyebrows look #fierce.
Wish this place wasn’t so far from where I live.
I can’t speak on their stylist because I’ve never had my hair done here but I was definitely satisfied!

I came here because I had a groupon. I’m always hesitant because you never know if the places are good, but I was very happy with the results.
I called a day ahead of time to make an appointment. The receptionist was very accommodating, even asking me if I could come in before official «opening hours» to start on my hair. It was very helpful because of my schedule.
Roya did my hair. Before we started, she asked me what I wanted and she was able to tell what I was looking for. I don’t get my hair colored often, but she was able to get my hair the exact color I wanted. It’s very natural and looks great. The color is great. I’m also happy with the cut and style. I like my hair long. She cut off the damaged ends and styled it nicely. I’m very happy with the result! It doesn’t look overly dramatic or anything, just like a more put together (less grey) version of me :)

This is my go-​to place for my eyebrow maintenance! I’m a faithful customer of about two years and they are the best that I have had in the area. Nothing is worse than getting out of a chair with eyebrows that are too thin, uneven or different sizes. I can say that I have not experienced any of these scenarios since coming here. My girl is Henna!!! There is another woman who is good as well (I will find her card info and post later).
I typically try to call ahead and let them know I’m on my way, but you could certainly walk-​in and get fast service! The current price is $ 15 for eyebrows and I tip (but that is absolutely your choice).
Overall, great fast and friendly service. I will continue to go… as a matter of fact… see you ladies tomorrow!

Just went here to get my eyebrows threaded. I called an hour before going in to see if I could get them done and they said of course! I don’t know the lady who did my eyebrows but she was really nice and fast. It was painless and honestly the results were the best I’ve ever had. I used to go to the mall to get my eyebrows threaded but I hated being out in the open like that and they never seemed to do a good job. My eyebrows are now nicely cleaned up and have a great shape to them! Will definitely be going back especially since this down the street from where I live :)

Been coming here off and on for a few years. They have had some wonderful ladies that do great brow work and others that need a softer touch. I have not had any other services there so this review is only about their threading work. It is worth a try.

Sawati did an excellent job at cutting my hair. I am pretty picky when it comes to who cuts my hair, because my long, thick/​wavy hair is usually difficult for other hairdressers to manage. She cut it exactly how I requested, and for a reasonable price in comparison to other Fairfax salons. I will definitely go back to her when I need a haircut again!

Completely over priced. I’m used to paying a maximum of $ 12 for a full eyebrow clean up, which knocks down for touch ups. Nope! Not the case here. $ 15 no matter what. And they expect tip! No matter what.
My eyebrows are just okay — but believe me I have had better, with better service and for a better price.
Will I go again … we will have to wait and see.

Swati did a great job threading my eyebrows and giving me a haircut. I will be back!

I recently moved to the area and have been to Appearances twice to get my hair cut. Melissa has cut my hair both times and has been absolutely wonderful! Besides giving me an awesome, hassle free cut that still lets keep my hair long (which my husband likes) she is super friendly and gives a bunch of advice above and beyond a simple haircut. The salon is clean and everyone is friendly but still professional. A great find!

Get my eyebrows threaded here about every 2 – 3 weeks… this is the first place that I can honestly say is almost completely painless! I always walk in and am seen immediately.
I think the lady’s name I see is Sashi… she is great!

I went to see Swati, today, for the first time. I needed to have my brows threaded, and I needed to stay local. I found Appearances via Unilocal,and crossed my fingers and went to check this place out today. I have to say, Swati was AMAZING! Coming from me (the eyebrow snob), that’s a pretty big deal. She took her time, and gave me perfect brows (not too thin, not too thick), and worked around the scar I have in my left brow until you couldn’t tell I had one. This is the first time in a long time I’m confident I can leave my house without having to pencil in my brows to death. She also was half the price of the place I had been going! Double WIN!!! I highly, HIGHLY recommend her!

I found this place from, of all places, youtube. I was interested in my getting my eyebrows threaded since my friend boasted about how this was so much better than waxing. I was surprised to find out that it was so close to my home and I never noticed it. This review is solely on their threading services as I do not have anything else done here. I’m the type of person who, if I find a place that does something right, sticks with the place. I think these people are great at threading eyebrows. I’ve had several different people work on my eyebrows (at least 3 or 4 difference people each time I’ve shown up) and each person has done what I’ve wanted. Yeah they sometimes miss a hair or two here or there, but I just go home and tweeze it out, NBD. I have issues with trusting people with services involving my physical appearance, and I have never felt like they were going to butcher my eyebrows. Threading the first time does feel weird and sometimes feels like you are tweezing over and over again, but you cannot beat the precision of threading. I can’t say if it’s pricey compared to other places, but I go here every few months and then maintain the shape with tweezing. They are very competent in how eyebrows are shaped and what would be the best without going too thin.

The exterior is a little anonymous, you can’t see the name from the road, other than «Salon & Spa.» Interior is very nice, is a lot roomier than it looks from the outside, and very clean-​looking.
I used a spa package I received as a gift, which was the pedicure, facial, and massage. The woman who did the pedicure and facial, Lakesha?, was very thorough and careful, provided nice mini-​massages during both. I would’ve preferred the pedicure tools to have been autoclaved, they were just sitting in some blue barbicide. She used OPI (good selection of colors from what I could tell) and Seche Vite polishes.
Good atmosphere for the facial and massage, dimmed lighting, music, and candles were lit for the facial. They also provided a plush robe for covering up in between different rooms.
Massage was in a tiny room, but was pretty good and relaxing.
Overall, a good experience.

I went for the Living Social deal of a pedicure, massage and mini-​facial. I had to book a couple of months in advance to get this appointment.
Ambiance — Overall, the appearance of the salon was OK. It was very small and had a bit of a crammed feeling.
Massage — The massage was very good. The massage room was very, very small and didn’t even have room for a chair or table to put my things on. I hung all of my things on the back of the door. The room was very cramped but again, the massage was good.
Mini-​facial — After my massage, I came out of the room and there was no one there waiting for me. I wasn’t really sure what I was supposed to do. So I made my way back toward the front desk. There I found out that the facial would be next. I have only had 1 other facial a long time ago so I don”t have much of a baseline. My skin was cleansed and moisturized and steamed. At the end a peppermint lotion was put on my face which made my eyes burn and water. My biggest issue with the facial was there was no communication. I barely knew what she did for my face and didn’t learn anything about caring for my skin. She told me «you have oily skin type» and that was the extent of the communication.
Pedicure — This was the worst pedicure I’ve ever had. The water was filthy and there was hair and debris floating in the water where I put my feet. I complained and she moved me to the other chair but when she filled it with water, it was the same. I reluctantly put my feet in there hoping I wouldn’t get a foot fungus. The pedicure did not include any form of a foot or leg massage. It was supposed to, but she didn’t bother. While my nails were drying, I watched to see if she would scrub out the jets and foot bath area but she didn’t. I did not get a foot fungus, thank goodness, but I would never consider a pedicure at this place ever again.

Researched for a threading place via Internet and Appearances Salon & Spa was the closest to where I reside. Sashi was the girl that threaded my eyebrows and upper lip and she was quick, precise, and kept it very clean. Threading can be painful for some and considering this was only my second time, it still was a bit painful but manageable.
Pricing was 22 for both. I’ve paid less for both. Location, décor, and the staff are friendly enough to go back.

Yeah! Someplace close that does eyebrow threading! I have passed by this place a million times and never noticed it. I was looking on Unilocal to see if there were any places near me that do eyebrow threading and this place popped up. I went there today and they did a great job on my eyebrows. The only reason I did not give them 5 out of 5 stars was because I think my eyebrows are a little on the thin side, but that is partially my fault because I did not tell them I do not like my brows too thin.
The salon is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside and it is nice and clean.
I will definitely go back there the next time I need my brows done.
