American Cabinet Refacers

I had a appointment set up for Saturday June 11 first it was for 10:00 and then someone called me back and rescheduled it for 1:00. Needless to say no showed up or called me back. I will not be using this company at all.

I called to set up an appointment to have a free estimate done and after multiple times of someone calling me to set up my «free home estimate» I was told my husband had to be there. I hung up the phone and will not use their service. They told me it was company policy for both to be there

I signed a contract with them and paid a $ 2,000 deposit up front and I LITERALLY have not been able to get anyone on the phone since unless its MaryAnn calling to schedule my consultation 3X’s a day every day AFTER I already signed the contract! After explaining to her that I already have a signed contract, I told her I was having an issue with having my calls returned and that the lack of responsiveness was very disconcerting, her response was, «I will be honest you aren’t the first person to say that» and I guess that was supposed to somehow make me feel better. After being ignored for the past 6 weeks given false dates for the work to be done/​the order to be placed/​items to be received, and even for the second person to come take measurements, I contacted my credit card company to dispute the transaction. Maybe now they will find time to speak with me now that I want my money back. I tried to support a local business and I absolutely regret contacting this company. This entire process has been one headache after another and I want this to be DONE and OVER as quickly as possible. RUN DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY… whatever the amount of money you will save is NOT worth the headache or frustration.

I had the same problem another reviewer did… they insisted my husband needed to be present for the estimate, which is difficult due to his line of work. I scheduled an estimate nonetheless for that Saturday at 10am. In the mean-​time, I had 2 other contractors out who didn’t require that my beloved be home. I went with 1 of those bids and was very happy them. Next, «MaryAnne» from American Cabinet called to «schedule my in home estimate»??? I told her I already had an appt for that Saturday at 10, I scheduled it with Stuart. She couldn’t find the appointment. So I told her no worries, I didn’t need the appointment anymore because I already hired another contractor. Today (Saturday), at 10:50 American Cabinet came to my door for my free estimate! Get your act together American Cabinet! Customer service is atrocious and terribly unorganized. How can a customer have any confidence in the final product when you can’t even organize appointments or be courteous of family’s schedules?

Others here have noted the lack of communication/​responsiveness by the owners/​administration of this company. I have found the same to be true. Wish I had checked Unilocal before hiring this company. They advised that I install a deeper sink than what had been there originally and I agreed. However, they re-​hooked the original garbage disposal without noticing that the drain is now HIGHER than the disposal, so water cannot flow out of the disposal any more. I have already spent over $ 500 with a plumber who can’t fix the issue unless we tear out the brand new counter/​sink that ACR installed. My calls and email to the owners have been ignored. Since they have already been paid, why should they bother rectifying a problem they caused?

This company absolutely refused to come out and give me an estimate for remodeling my kitchen unless (get this) MY HUSBAND WAS HOME! What is this the 1950’s? Even after explaining that my husband works long hours, they refused to come out. Unbelievable. Got this recommendation through our neighborhood FB page too. Very disappointed & will post this experience on our neighborhood website.
Update: This company has literally called me 3 times a day every day for a week. It’s the same woman every time… Maryanne. Twice I’ve answered & asked them politely not to call back because we’re not interested in an estimate due to their weird policies. Every time she calls, she acts as if she has never spoken to me before. Weird. Just know before you contact this company that they WILL NOT come out for an estimate unless your husband is home and be prepared to be harassed by phone even after asking them to stop calling.

I have to agree with the reviewers who said they received terrible customer service. I had an appointment scheduled for 2 weeks ago, they called that morning to confirm and then called back an hour before our scheduled appointment to cancel. I thought I would give them another chance and rescheduled an appointment for today. I had a 5pm appointment. The sales guy called me at 12:45 to confirm directions because he was on his way! I was not home. I rushed home and called him back at 2pm. then he wouldn’t come over because my husband wasn’t home yet. Why would my husband have to be there to get an estimate on the work? It’s my kitchen and I know what I want. I am totally frustrated with this company and would never recommend them to anyone!!!

This is a hard review because when our kitchen cabinets were refaced by the same family owned company, all went very well. However, after this experience I can not recommend American Cabinet Refacers. The actual installation completed by the installer was «excellent» with an exception. The installer was professional and did an outstanding job. My issue is with the poor coordination/​responsiveness by the owners. For example; we repeatedly received calls from a women who kept calling to schedule for an estimate weeks after we had already ordered, and even «after» the job was mostly finished. Why mostly finished, the owners did not order the hardware. After the hardware was delivered to our house, I called both the owner and installer. «No» response. So I had to pay another to install. Also, the salesperson stated that they would also install new faucets. Not on the workorder, so the installer would not act (not their fault). I wish I could give a better rating, but others need to be aware of the poor intra-​company coordination/​follow through.

First, the salesperson must not work directly for the company. You deal with the owner and him only (Stewart) after I made an appointment, and gave a ¹⁄₃ deposit to salesperson. There are no details given, only bottom line price. Well, I fell in love with their most expensive cabinet. Average size kitchen, cost over $ 9,000. Within in the 4 – 6 week timeframe Stewart calls and we schedule installation weeks out, due to my schedule. No problem. Two days before installation, and after I cleaned out my cabinets, I get a call from Stewart to say product is not in. I have been living out of boxes to ensure cabinets were cleared. So for an additional week I must live out of boxes. I use the website to have the salesperson me. Still she has never called. Nor did the owner.
The installer was outstanding, the product looks great. The handles for the doors/​drawers was free, but salesperson neglect to share cabinet I choose would not work with handles I choose, installer alerted me. He could have drilled holes and we could have learned the hard way.
The owner, Stewart, offered me $ 50 for the inconvenience, only after I asked for compensation for the inconvenience. Then said will $ 100 make you happy. I handed the phone to my husband. I had, had it.
No care instructions were given, just balanced required at the end.
I live in a development were we share good service providers, guess who will not get one from me. Product was made in Canada. It was shipped to USA the day Stewart called to say they were not in, they weren’t shipped. Well, was it worth over $ 9,000, well, I must say, No. Got caught up in the moment, never again.LOL. An expensive price to pay.

We had our cabinets refaced with American Cabinet Refacers in December 2013. The process of the consultation and installation was fine– except that the glass installed in one of our cabinets was not what we ordered. The man doing the installation assured us this would be rectified.
We have called dozens of times over the last 6 months about this issue and have not even received a call back from them in response! I guess since we were already paid in full they don’t care about finishing the job. The least they could do is return our multiple phone calls.
I would give them zero stars if I could. I guess we just gave to live with an unfinished kitchen.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am regarding the customer service of this company. Everything was excellent until we signed paperwork to have work done and provided a downpayment. They were completely non-​responsive to any attempts to contact them regarding installation, billing, etc. The only bright side is that we are happy with the completed work, but it was a painful process to get there.

We are just beginning to work with these folks. Had them come out to give us an estimate on new counter-​tops. We have already replaced the cabinets, so didn’t have to sit thru that sales pitch. Price for counter-​tops seemed a bit high, but we are confident we will get what we pay for. Promising us fast service, I will update this review as the project goes forth. Up to now, I am pleased.

The refacing job was very well done and we are 100% satisfied with it. The cabinets look great and the installers were very professional. There was a small problem with the cabinet hardward, but the office worked with us to a satisfactory resolution. But for the hardware glitch, I would give them 5 stars.

We used this company after seeing the work they had done at a neighbors house. That worked looked good, unfortunately, the same was not true for the work they performed at our house. Several issues:
1. In the written contract, the company promised soft close drawers for the price we agreed to pay. We signed that contract. When the measurement was done a week or two later we were told that it would not be possible to install the soft close drawers. Why did the salesman offer this option if it was not possible in our situation?
2. A big sales point was that the work would be performed in 5 – 6 weeks whereas new cabinets would be 2 months or longer. It was 9 weeks until this company installed. 50% over the promised time– classic over promise under deliver. If i hadn’t called to figure out what was going on it is not clear when they would have installed.
3. I attempted to call our salesman 5 times after we learned of many of these issues. I never received a call back.
4. The completion of the job was not the greatest. The seams where the cut-out’s meet is very visible. One part of the cabinet has a pretty large gap so you can see in the cabinet.
In hindsight we should have just purchased new cabinets. It was only going to be about $ 4k more and I think we would have been much happier.

I would highly recommend American Cabinet Refacers to anyone looking for high quality work. I appreciated their dedication to getting our tough kitchen job done– we HAD a small, tight kitchen. Although the sales pitch was irksome to listen through, the actual men who worked on my house were fantastic. They built us an additional pantry and extended our cabinets to the ceiling. They cleaned up after themselves, and as a neatfreak, I really appreciated this! Although they were slightly more expensive than the other companies we looked at, we chose them because of their selection of bamboo cabinets. Again, more expensive, but you get what you pay for– and that is service with a smile! They even put up with my million questions during the two days it took!
