Unleashed by Petco

This store is very conveniently located, close to my house and nice when I don’t want to drive all the way over to petco. They have the wet, and dry food I buy for my cats and the staff is very friendly. One time I was even given free treats, and a coupon for 20 dollars to an online photo company that does cards/​calendars, can’t remember the name at the moment.

I am very happy with this place. I mostly go here because Trader Joe’s and EWC are right next to it, but I have always had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are always able to answer questions and give me the best recommendation they can. I get wellness for my cats and they love it. It’s basically a small peptic with no pets, which I like because I am not thinking about buying more pets or dealing with crowds. It’s got the essentials and that’s all I need!

I ordered dog food and it took way too long to get in. So I decided to see if Petco had it instead because my dogs needed to eat… they did. Why didn’t Unleashed refer me there in the first place? And especially after waiting so long? Not happy.
UPDATE: It has been almost a month since I ordered the food & still no call. Absolutely ridiculous. Never going back.

Customer service is lacking; I inquired today about a dog crate & the girl was very confused, told me 1 price, put me on hold & handed the call to a man who told me a more expensive price for the item. Why is a small dog crate $ 80? I found it for $ 40 less somewhere else, which I could understand if they weren’t a corporate store. Seems odd. Other times I’ve been in the store & am seeing a pattern of them being irritable, annoyed or flustered with a question I have; & when they don’t know an answer they have «gone off to find the answer» without returning to help me at all. This place isn’t for me.

We adopted a puppy from this location in October 2014. We signed a contract with Kozy Pets Rescue who is running the adoptions inside the Unleased store. The contract required us to schedule an appointment with the vet listed on the contract for the spay/​neuter, micro chipping and vaccinations. We didn’t realize the vet is 44 miles away (one way) from the Unleased store until we looked them up online! Why wouldn’t a local vet be used? There are many to choose from in a two mile radius of the store.
We made multiple attempts to schedule the vet appointment but our adoption fee was never forwarded or provided to the vet. We contacted Kozy Pets Rescue with no resolution so we contacted Petco customer service, Petco corporate in San Diego and the local store manager to get the adoption fee for these services refunded or forwarded to the vet. Our correspondences with the adoption group were not well received and we were threatened with legal action and/​or they would attempt to reclaim the puppy.
Everything about this experience does not benefit the animals being adopted at this store. We paid for services that were never honored by the adoption group or Petco. Petco Unleased continues to allow the business to operate inside their store even with the full understanding of our experience with Kozy Pets Rescue.
Shame on Petco for allowing this vendor to continue to operate inside their store.

I love shopping here! I only have cats, so they have exactly what I need and they don’t fuck around on you and move it every two weeks! They usually recognize me and I’m ALWAYS greeted with a smile as soon as I walk in! It’s very pleasant!
Not only do they offer excellent customer service, but there are benefits to shopping with Petco ($ 5 off every $ 100 and GREAT sale prices all the time!) which are a huge factor when I choose where to shop!
Anyway, I highly recommend this location as I’ve never had a nice experience in a regular Petco store, but Unleashed is a different story!

Quiet Store. Great selections and great service!

I stopped by here last week for the first time because I forgot to order my dog more food online before her ran out. For now on, I will do all of my pet shopping here. The food is competitively priced. I came in with my dog on a leash and a worker offered to push my cart for me and help load everything I needed. On top of that, my dog was given a ball to play with in the store and was also able to take it home. This is the best customer service I have received in a long time.

They carried my goodies out to the car, even though I was parked half-​way across the parking lot… all without asking!

Great service helping find stuff to meet my cats needs yesterday and on other occasions. I like the intimacy of the store and how the stock seems fresh, some stores have cans with dust and that is not cool!

LOVE them! Unleashed off of Sunrise next to Trader Joes is wonderful! Their staff is fantastic! Michelle, April, Douglas, Kristina… all of you! Thank you for making us feel like family! Always there to help with questions, you actually care and that makes all the difference! Your care, knowledge and «normalness» is wonderful! Not to mention your hosted dog and cat adoptions every wednesday! I will always go here, as long as your staff stays! People make the difference everywhere you go. Top notch!!!

i really enjoy coming here! the staff is amazing, i believe the gals name is michelle? she has a couple pit bulls and she always helps me with my bully needs! = ] we talk about our pets and its just an over all great experience every time. prices are great and they always have good sales. very clean tidy store.

Im not an owner, but I would like to comment to the VERY biased and unfair review just left by Aaron J.
I worked at this store for the first 4 months of operation before I moved out of state. Before we even opened, our manager went to Trends and Treats to offer Millie partnership and help. Our hope was to be able to refer all our customers to her for her excellent grooming, boutique items and any food that we did not carry. We also asked if we could put up her business cards at our register. It was an olive branch… she took it as war. Immediately, she started bashing not only the store but the individual employees who worked there (it made it VERY hard for any of us to simply walk by her store). She spread rumors to customers, nearby business and even city hall about us carrying poisoned food and about hostile take overs. She sent her minions to our store to harass us, EVERY DAY for weeks, until a cease and desist order was made (by Quail Point, not us) someone came into the store to scream and cuss and to scare customers away. What did we do about it? besides report the harassment to Quail Point, NOTHING. We were advised not to engage in any negative conversation about Trends n Treats AND we were advised to refer customers to her where appropriate.
As for the VERY VERY inflated quote,
«We cannot get high quality brands like that because we are considered a Megastore. The manufacturers that produce high quality foods like that won’t sell it to us because they cannot produce enough volume to satisfy the amount we sell».
No one ever said all of that. all anyone said is, «that company cannot produce enough product for a large chain store, Why dont you try…(insert trends n treats, western feed, ECT)»
AS far as Quail Point. Before Unleashed moved in, a vote was put up in the shopping center and she was outvoted. The owner of Quail Point, HOWEVER, did make a concession for her by cutting her rent in half.
I am sad that she had to close her doors and I sincerely hope that she reopens in a more desireable location. Coming from a customer standpoint. MONTHS before Unleashed was conceieved and I had a job there I went to trends n treats. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS… we’re talking 75 bucks for a harness. When I tried to ask Millie about the dog food, she was short with me and turned her nose up at me. There weren’t very many people in the store at the time, so she could have talked to me. I bought a treat for my dog and left. I am sure there were other factors in her closing down. Like, for example, her prices, which only rich people can afford and her attitude.
As far as Unleashed goes, here is what you will find. Simply and honestly. Premium, natural and holistic food and employees that are knowledgeable and trained in pet nutrition and are happy to provide you with the customer experience you need. No you wont find Canidae and Cal of the Wild, but you will most definitely find HIGH QUALITY food like, Blue Buffalo, Merrick, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Pinnacle, Avoderm, Castor and Pollux, ect. You wont find EVERY toy or Leash that you could possibly want like at a bigger store, but you will find a nice selection. You wont find a grooming salon OR live animals for sale. You wont find a dirty, unpersonalized super store, and you will find a free treat offered to every dog that walks in.

Went into unleashed and they were expensive, unhelpful and the store was dirty. I found 2 poop piles and it stunk. I expected more from a store that just opened. I will not be back.

The girl at the store explained that Unleashed by Petco has a focus on premium and holistics. a more personal store than the «big store».
It’s like a lot of the independent stores you find in strip malls. This one is a European Wax Center away from Trader Joe’s. Recently opened. Clean.
I liked it a lot. but, I felt very skeptical because of it’s relation to Petco– And, I’m not much a fan of Petco.

I love it, so fun and cute. Small but I had fun shopping for my cat and I had a $ 5 off coupon. I will be back and the girl answered all my questions and sold me on some good cat food.
