Hampton Inn Downingtown

Here’s the thing, there are so many hotels out there that are just like the Hampton Inn, you know fellow road warriors, the breakfast buffet, clean rooms, not luxurious but not Spartan, good housekeeping, token business center (i.e. desk and computer terminal with printer) and pool. If there was an exercise room I missed it (might have been deliberate). So what makes the difference? The staff. At this place, it was the lady in charge of the breakfast buffet. She was so cheerful, circulating through the area taking away dishes, asking everyone if they needed anything, smiling smiling smiling, just made me feel happy to see someone who is happy and loves making others happy.
There are three or four restaurants within walking distance (depending on the weather). A good choice at a reasonable price.

My wife, 1 year-​old daughter and I stayed here after traveling in for a wedding.
The check-​in process was quick and easy, and I found the desk staff to be very friendly and accommodating. We had originally planned to bring our dog with us, as we were happy to find a dog-​friendly hotel, but decided to leave her at home. There is no charge for your pets, which sounded nice. At the entrance to the hotel parking lot, there is a large mismatched sign that reads «Award Winning.» I wonder precisely what award was ever won by this hotel.
I immediately noticed that the hallways and elevator was not air-​conditioned, and was very warm. When we got to our room, I found it to be very small. The bathroom was also very small, and did not have much counter space. It seemed to be clean, at first-​glance.
We were happy to find many restaurants nearby, and went out for dinner.
When we returned to the room, I initially had lots of trouble using the wi-​fi, but figured it out. The wi-​fi is not sufficient for streaming anything, and the signal is very poor. The offer an «enhanced wi-​fi» service for a charge, but I decided that was not necessary.
We found several black ants crawling on the floor next to the bed, and that was extremely off-​putting. After stomping them, we found several more dead ants in the shower.
The bed was extremely hard, and very, very uncomfortable. The room is very hot, unless you run the air-​conditioning nearly all the time. The air conditioning unit is very, very loud, and each time it kicked on during the night, it woke me up, which was very frustrating, considering it was very hard to fall asleep to begin with, considering the uncomfortable bed.
I woke up even more exhausted than I was when I went to bed, and my back hurt, and I never complain of back discomfort. The shower floor was squishy, and seemed like it was too big for the space it was installed into. The towels were too small, and not standard-​size towels.
When I finished showering, I immediately called several neighboring hotels to see if we could switch to one of them, but they were all booked. The breakfast area is way too small for the number of rooms they have here. The line was so long, and by the time we got up to it, most of the food was gone, and what was left, was not appealing in the least. They would be better served by not offering breakfast at all. All of this gave me the impression that this was once a hotel with suites, and someone remodeled it poorly to add rooms.
The swimming pool is outdoors, and very, very cold. The towels by the pool were no larger than a standard kitchen dish towel, which was similarly off-​putting.
Housekeeping never came, and the two tiny garbage cans were not sufficient for our needs. We have two more nights we have to stay here, and I am not looking forward to them. While we were foolish to even consider travelling with a 13-​month old baby, we were even more foolish to choose this hotel.
If I had a third-​arm, I would give this hotel three thumbs-​down.

Avoid if you can, on my check in I found a used qtip on the bed!!! I asked to be relocated and got moved to the noisiest room. It’s late and the other hotels around here are booked.
Not the Hampton standard here!

The people who work here are very polite and friendly. This location doesn’t have a gym on site but they have passes to the local YMCA a few miles away. The breakfast is decent and one of the better included breakfasts that I’ve had. The rooms are clean and the bed feels great. The WiFi isn’t great but good enough for standard definition YouTube videos.

Only good things r coffee, cookies, and breakfast the cleaning crew don’t speak English, work hard at not working. Had to call to get our room cleaned we were gone for 8 hrs came back to a uncleared room our olé towels. The halls n elevator must be 80deg. And nice outside so far it’s been an unpleasant experience, hell even the shower leaks and under the tub feels and sounds like it’s filling up with water maintenance sucks n speak chopped English only. Wonder if any have a green card!!!

I don’t understand the hoopla about this hotel.
The front desk clerks seemed surly, especially the one in the morning who, when I asked for my bill, never asked for my name, only my room number. He didn’t say hello, good morning, nothing. I was almost afraid to ask him for the bill because of his slouching posture and his dead eyes. Eek.
The evening I checked in, the two female clerks questioned me about my employer and asked for my identification and even wanted a photo copy of it. I pointed out that my employer’s name is on my credit card which they already had. I’ve never been asked for a photo copy of my employer identification in 13 years.
My room appeared to be very nice but the distance from the bed to the door was about 12 feet so any noises in the hallway — talking, slamming doors — I heard. In addition, there’s a highway in front of the building and I could hear vehicles accelerating away from the traffic light all night long. In an attempt to mask the noise, I let the fan run. Although the temperature was set to 68, it seemed to get very, very warm before it got cooler again.
So, although the room was nice looking, that, in addition to the good internet service and the good, fast elevators, are all that I have to recommend the place.
The breakfast I had was some canned fruit, yogurt and stale, barely warm french toast sticks and a stingily-​sized cup of coffee.
I’ve stayed in Hampton Inns before and this is, by far, the worst one. I did not enjoy my stay and will not be back.

I was a dedicated Starwood customer for years. I frequently stayed at Sheratons, until on one my trips to PA last year, when the Sheraton was sold out and I found this Hampton Inn. I am so happy I did. Seriously, for half the price of the Sheraton, the Hampton Inn Downington/​Exton provided SO much more value. We stayed for 10 days this last visit. The front desk staff provided a very friendly greeting (and a little care package!); the housekeeping staff was polite and provided excellent cleaning; the beds were super comfy; the breakfast crew was very friendly and accommodating. The general manager talked to the guests at breakfast, and was attentive and responsive to everyone she spoke with. One night, there was a big storm, so the hotel had pizza brought in for the guests because all the area restaurants were closed (who does that??!); in the morning, after 1 foot of snow fell, the staff had wiped the snow off all the cars in the parking lot (who does that?!!). Really every single person on the staff was hospitable, kind, and accommodating and we felt welcomed each and every day. It was a great experience.

I was so happy with this hotel. All the staff were so friendly, especially the woman serving breakfast (which was delicious), and the room was clean and comfortable. I really don’t have any complaints.

Stayed one night in the Hampton Inn Exton and was very happy. We checked in late, and just needed a place to shower and sleep for the night.
The hotel was great. The room and bathroom were spotless. I know this hotel is pet-​friendly and I’m allergic to dogs and cats. I had no problems and there was no trace of any pets. Either they’ve never had an animal in here or housekeeping does an awesome job — I think the latter is true.
The front desk staff member was friendly and welcoming, even at 11:00 pm.
The bed was comfortable and the room was fresh and updated.
Breakfast in the morning was very good and the variety was outstanding.
The only issue I had was that the heater/​AC unit was a bit loud.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for either a short or long stay. It was an excellent value as well, as our rate was under 90/​night.

Clean and quiet. I actually slept well in the bed. The best part is the breakfast selection they have in the morning. Premium Greek yogurt! Nice touch Hampton Inn. The extercise room is one of the worst that I have been to. The equipment is so old and they offer a bike and treadmill that you would have purchased at Sears in 1981.

We chose this hotel because we were looking for dog friendly accommodations for our road trip with our beagle mix. Dog friendly indeed — lots of grassy area to run around in, doggy bags at the front desk and outside, and they gave us a goody bag that included some treats as well as a guide to dog friendly businesses in the area. For the humans — a quiet room, warm cookies at night, tea/​coffee on tap all the time, and a comfy common area for dinner and relaxing. The front desk supplied extra dishware and utensils for our take-​away meal. Even the common area restrooms were nice. We don’t know how they keep everything so clean and quiet while being pet friendly. Staff was a major plus, from Kyle at the front desk to the breakfast staff. We chatted with another guest who has stayed here multiple times because the staff bends over backwards for their guests.

My husband and I stayed here in late July for a wedding. We had a wonderful time! The hotel is right off the Turnpike, so it was really easy to find. Our room was clean and you could tell it had been renovated recently. The staff was so friendly (especially the Front Desk and Breakfast staff). We really enjoyed the free breakfast too; there were waffles, omelets, sausage and oatmeal with toppings. I wish we could have stayed more than one night!

Stayed here for 2 nights back in late May, a Friday and Saturday. The room was very clean (pet-​friendly as well) although the AC unit was VERY loud and made it a bit difficult to fall asleep. The rest of the hotel was in fairly good shape, seems as if its been renovated within the past few years. The free breakfast was considerably better than most hotels we’ve stayed at and offered a good variety of foods (Various baked goods, bacon, eggs, omelettes, waffles, etc.) which were restocked constantly and were always hot and fresh. On Friday night we had a bit of an issue with a rowdy group of ~6 guys in their early 20s who checked in at around 10:30 at night with packs of beer in hand, had to ask the front desk to quiet them down a bit.
