My lovely spouse brought home the shattered solstice tonight. What a coincidence we were doing shots of two gingers whiskey at the same time. The full on ginger flavor from the shattered hits your tongue like a fine Asian meal. Thank you Excelsior! Now on to the Bitteschlappe

I like the space, the beer is alright, nothing special, and the parking is decent. However the bar tender failed to make basic change. Later on in the evening when I asked for a water I was told, less than cordially, there is a cooler by the door, full of water, with plastic cups next to it.
I didn’t find water, plastic cups, or a cooler by the door.
Would I make the trip out there for this brewery again? Absolutely not.

A fun spot in Excelsior! Good beers, nice staff. Live music on the weekends is usually pretty good. Definitely a good place to hang out with friends.

Living in Excelsior, this is one of 15-​plus places to get a drink now. It is very uncomfortable; way too crowded all the time; and so loud.
It seems the majority of patrons are 40+. There isn’t enough parking in that area.

Great beer, I had the stout. Chatted with the owner and friends. Then the owner was on stage for an open mic night. cool place to be, with wonderful people. Who said a Brit can’t find good beer in the States (colonies).

Their brown ale is lyfe. Yeah, yeah I’ve liked all the other beers I’ve tried, but this beer is all I ever want. Nice owners, cool space, nice little side/​back patio and some fantastic local food options.
It does get pretty packed on the weekends and can be hard to get a seat, but its worth a stop and snaggin’ a growler, for sure!

I really love what they have done with the place! From a cement block building comes a great, bright tap room – with a nice patio to boot! The beer is great and with some great eating spots near by that you can bring in some to go grub, I think I could go there more often!

One of the newer places in Excelsior and for sure a bookmark! I will disclose I’m not a huge beer fan, but the amber and the blonde are outstanding. It is a very simple warehouse type place, but don’t let that fool you. They have bands, special events, it’s always busy, indoor and outdoor seating. I love the logo and bought myself a visor. Excelsior Brew is also dog friendly. This place is worth checking out!

Love love love your beer! Cool industrial feel and decent prices. Next bike ride I go on, I’ll be sure to stop in again! Oh and the pizza place next door? It’s really good too!!!

Ya know who needs to invest in some outdoor umbrellas and a giant fan? This brewery, that’s who!
Excelsior Brewing Company is pouring some tasty and refreshing brews to cool off your insides. But they don’t care about your outsides, remember that. What they do evidently care about is making sure your taste buds don’t dehydrate and on that day the sour peach ale was making its rounds. Refreshing, cold and tangy. It was the perfect pour for a day like the one we spent baking our skin into jerky on the patio here.
Maybe I should mention that it was ridiculously hot outside.
Anyway, the guys dishing out the beer definitely left you with some lovely head (On the beer. Put your pants back on), a polite greeting, and some lighthearted chatter to keep you awake while you waited in line. No issues with sampling makes choosing your brew easier, and trust me, it’s still hard to choose.
If I ever find myself on this side of town again I will definitely return. If not for the beer, then definitely to explore the neighborhood.

I love to bake. I baked chocolate chip cookies in the morning. Then, I think karma wanted to show me how it would feel to be baked.
I arrived at Excelsior Brewing Company after some trial and tribulations with Saturday traffic. Wtf right? Saturday. Why traffic and accident all over the frickin place. Finally, when I got there, I found my friends sitting outside.
It was super hot outside and there was absolutely no shade to be found. I felt like such a bitch complaining about sun shines, but baking is more fun than being baked. Ok, got it karma… I got it. However, it was still the start of an awesome day with my crayelper friends.
When I parked my car, I already loved the energy around town. There was a lot of people walking around, bikers congregating, and just all kinds of summer fun displayed. There wasn’t much place to sit inside the brewery and half the building was the actual brewery with all kinds of big brewer kettles lined up. Inside there, hops, barley, and yeast were having three some doing watersports to spawn an offspring we love called beer.
I am not a huge beer person; however, in that heat, I truly enjoyed my peach sour beer. It was light, and I have heard people talked about sour beer but now I got it and I liked it. I thought I was a fruity sweet lambic or cider type person. However, that sour beer was one beer I liked the most from all the sad selection of past beers I have ever drank. Thank you Steve T to twist my arm to it and to John O, our Beer Batallion Meister, who sacrificed his peach sour for all of us to try. It was delish.
As we continued to melt under the Minnesota sun, Dita, Steve D, Steve T, Jenny A, Mahad M, Alyssa, Zoe, Michelle A, and Lisa A, and I continued to have a really great time. This was phase 1 of our multi layered fun filled day. Way to start it off!
Sun + Beer + Friends + Free Chex Mix + Dita’s boobs = Hell Yeah.

Excelsior has never been tops on my list of local beers, but we recently made a trip out to the brewery and I have to say my impression has definitely improved. They were tapping their May Maibock at the time, which I found to be absolutely delicious. Malty and rich, it was really a great beer. I had several :-) Location-​wise, the brewery is located right in downtown Exelsior and has a nice, relaxed and open vibe. People are friendly and not overbearing. It really is a place where you could easily kick back and have a few or pass an evening with friends. I am sure we will be back!

What an awesome Brewery! I went on a Friday night with some friends to check it out. We had heard that it was refreshed recently and wanted to check it out. What a place! Upon arrival, it was like we walked into an awesome beer bash with your closest friends. As we zip lined our way to the Bar, we walked by tons of people laughing and playing beer games. The place was busy but we were able to get a beer almost right way (always a plus). Review of the menu presented lots of options! I opted for the Blonde Raspberry beer which was tart but a really great light beer. My friends opted for the American Pale Ale and also liked the beer. YA know, going to a Brewery can always throw me for a loop – all either love it or hate it. But I loved their beer – and I liked that they had a very big selection that was brewed right there!
After we got our beer, we took a seat near the stage (where people were playing a giant game of Jenga). A few minutes after sitting down, we started watching a hilarious game of houla hoop, in which everyone was dancing and laughing. It eventually became a competition and everyone around started watching. At the same time, in the corner of the bar, I saw another fun beer game that involved a long rope that hit the wall. What an awesome lively place to get a beer! I recommend going on a Saturday night too – they have a live bar!

The recently redone brewery has it all! They frequently have live bands playing for entertainment. I was impressed by the light and sound quality, especially for a small-​town local brewery.
They do have one large screen tv for watching sports, namely the MN Wild games!
They’ve done a great job of supplying plenty of games to play while you’re there. Cards, Bananagrams, board games, washer games, life-​size jenga and more. Oh, they currently have curling outside!

An ‘average’ tasting IPA on a Thursday night. Nice atmosphere, however, and I LOVE the deal I heard about wearing their cycling jersey in for a tap (free). Now THAT’s good ROI!

Was invited to an fat tire race after party last weekend here. Live band, great beer, and winter bikers. The die hard riders! I learned they have weekly community meet ups here. Quirky bartenders, smiles all around. Hope to be back for another gathering in the spring!

This place used to be our favorite hangout spot when we moved to town last April, but the past few visits have really turned me off to the brewery. I still enjoy the beer, but the customer service at the brewery has really gone down hill fast now that they are getting starting to grow around the metro area and have hired new help at the bar.
The other thing that turned me off is that they won’t fill growlers with a different brewery logo on them, which was a first for me. Maybe it’s a Minnesota thing, but any of the other breweries I’ve been to in the Midwest would be glad to sell you beer no matter what type of jug you had. I was given the reason, «We’ll only pour our beer in an Excelsior vessel…».
Even after that exchange, I offered to buy an Excelsior growler filled with their bitteschlappe brew, but was told that too wasn’t possible. Apparently they won’t tap fill the growlers but instead use some type of «growler filling machine». I was pointed towards a chalk board that listed about a half dozen beers they’ll fill, but 4 were crossed out even though they were still serving the crossed out beers by the pint. This was 7pm on a Saturday.
Long story short, I walked out and took my business elsewhere. Not sure when I’ll be back.

Visiting from Oregon, I have to rate the beer at mediocre at best. I’ve had better home brew. Now the service was next level garbage. Either they are very rude or have heavily indulged in the product before closing time.
Pro Tip #1: Don’t serve beer in glasses right out of the dish washer. Nobody likes warm beer.
Pro Tip #2: Servers, don’t get high on your own supply.

My buddies and I decided to start our summer tour of Tap Rooms that have started to pop up all over Minnesota, it’s awesome!
Excelsior Brewing sits in the small town of Excelsior by Lake Minnetonka, one on the largest lakes right near the Metropolitan Twin Cities. We had brunch at Lago Tacos before hitting the tap room, which was a perfect start.
I ordered my buddy a beer on their buy a friend a beer wall, which you can add your name to a list of people you bought beers for. I also ordered a 4 beer flight, and I liked the Bridge Jumper IPA the best, but they didn’t have any bad beers at all. Jumper was a nice and hoppy IPA with a happiness quotient of 10.
I ordered 2 more Bridge Jumpers while I was in the large brew room. Tons of stainless in the back fermenting, and mashing, and all the good stuff that breweries do.
They had a blue grass live band in the corner, which was a huge win. I love me some blue grass music.
A buddy that lives on Lake Minnetonka was able to come last minute, which was awesome. I hadn’t seen him in about 6 months. Great laughs and good times. Helpful staff took our picture and an overall perfect experience with friends.
