H&R Block

Do not get your taxes done here! My parents used a tax advisor here for years and
she messed up their taxes and then lied about it. My parents were lucky that they added the Peace of Mind plan. If my parents did not have this plan, they would have paid $ 6,000 for the mistake the H&R rep made.

I called the Ewa Beach office I had my taxes done in order to schedule a follow-​up appointment with the wonderful (no sarcasm here) representative who helped me – because I received a letter from the Hawaii State Tax Office that instead of getting a refund I actually owed $ 1600+. I don’t understand what the addition is about and was hoping the same lady who helped me could shed some light on the situation. When I called, I received a recording that the office was closed until January 2016. I somehow got to a LIVE rep, who proceeded to ask me my name, which I told her. I asked her if the Ewa Beach office was indeed closed as I’d heard on the phone recording, and instead of answering my question, she kept asking me a series of questions. It wasn’t the fact that she was asking me questions that bothered me, but the tone in which she spoke was condescending and it seemed as if my call was such a hindrance to her and she couldn’t wait to be done with me! She said she was looking in the system and saw that the rep I was looking for was not accepting appointments at this time. I asked if she could confirm that we were talking about the same person because for all I know she could have had the wrong file up. She briskly stated she couldn’t see the name, just that whomever that rep was, she couldn’t tell. She then asked me (sounding annoyed) what I wanted, what I was trying to do. Again, it’s not what she was saying, but the way in which she said it. She was very rude, and totally put me off to H&R Block. Nothing at all like the ladies who work in the Ewa Beach office. I’m contemplating ever returning to H&R due to the hassle of trying to reach someone with the same Aloha Spirit outside of Tax Season! So much for «[getting our] money back, America!»

Ahh yes, good old H&R Block. Scratch that, not good at all. As I get older, the better my vision gets. Seriously. People said that getting older sucks but I would say that there are some serious perks to getting older (the vision gets clearer and the brain gets bigger and better).
If I’ve learned ANYTHING in the past two years, I’ve learned how to file my own taxes for my own business. I don’t need anyone’s help. For the past two years though, I tried to convince myself otherwise. I tried to convince myself that I needed help and a second set of PROFESSIONAL eyes. Are you choking yet? Anyways, I decided to meet with someone at H&R Block for that final check to make sure I was good to go and maximizing my savings. I’ve dealt with H&R Block before and it was not good, not good at all, but I came back…
«At H&R Block, anyone can work here.» This should be their motto. Their motto should not be that they are getting America their millions back. In fact, they are taking millions! It cost me $ 425 to file taxes for two 1099 forms.
H&R Block is just a bunch of data entry people. Not one, I repeat, NOT ONE tax professional works here. Not ONE tax accountant or educated adult. Worst of all, the manager of this location doesn’t know how to use EMAIL. Please check your Spam folder when someone says that they have emailed you something. It doesn’t always end up in the Inbox. This is basic emailing 101. Emailing was invented way before I was born.
TIP: Do your taxes on your own. You are FULLY capable. Just do a little Google Search on what confuses you and use TurboTax. You’ll be good as gold.
I do appreciate the sweet front desk women here but I am giving the one star for H&R Block as a whole and the management at this specific location. Sorry, ladies!
