Tallgrass Aveda Spa & Salon

My boyfriend and I recently spent the day here and we both had a great time. Everyone who served us was very attentive and kind. The setting is a beautiful place for a getaway — even the drive up is great — just make sure you leave plenty of time for the drive though, because it’s a little off the beaten path. I had the best pedicure I’ve ever had here with a very long calf/​foot massage.
Try to visit when it’s nice out though — because the outdoor waiting area can’t be beat. I’m not sure if I would have had quite as amazing of an experience lounging inside.

I had a facial at Tall Grass and it was not only painful, but left my pores wide open and huge. I had flawless, porcelain skin before going to this spa. Now, I am forever scarred with huge, gaping pores. The treatment I was given made me feel like I was undergoing an experiment lead by Dr. Mengele of Nazi Germany the way that the girl put me under a bright light and probed my skin, causing extreme pain and discomfort. I am forever scarred by this spa, not only because me face will never look the same, but also because I am fearful of any other spa treatments. This place is a horror show disguised by beautiful scenery.

I’ve only been once, but my experience was great. Assuming my next visits are as good, I think 5 stars is probably pretty accurate.
I went for waxing, which isn’t the most pleasant of services, but my technician was efficient and we had a great time chatting away.
The drive in was lovely. It was a crazy windy late afternoon/​evening and once I was in the building, it was just wonderful and cozy with the fireplace and sitting area warm and friendly and the wind howling outside. I can’t wait to come back again for more services. Really glad this place exists so close to home!

Let’s start by saying I never pamper or make time for myself. Today, I used a 3 year old gift card and got my two toned, fried hair colored to one single color and cut to be just a little styled. I asked for a blue/​black, but my hair is just flat black. That’s fine, I’m not too picky but when the price is so much, you’d hope to get what you asked for. My hair stylist was very nice and friendly aside from that. My hair looks much better leaving than it did going in (and it ought to for the price).
The «quiet room» is basically a very nice waiting room and would have been beyond relaxing if that were my forte… But listening to women gossip isn’t really my thing.
If you’re 45 or older, or a rich housewife, this is surely the place for you.
The staff seems very friendly, it’s nice and clean, ambient music, wood burning fireplace, snacks and cucumber infused water…
But again, not so much for me. I’m 32 with 3 kids and I feel quite old, but I can’t handle an uppity place like this. That isn’t a bad thing, it’s just not MY thing.
I heard clients there talking about how wonderful Sarah was with her massages, I will also say that. Haven’t experienced it, and I won’t, but her clients leave happy for sure.
It’s a great drive and a wonderful place if you go at a slow speed and want the peace. I, on the other hand, prefer loud punk rock, doo wop, or hip hop — minus the women my age gossiping about their horrible husbands and complaining about their mediocre chores that we all have to do.

Shortly after posting my review, the spa reached out to me with a very kind and thorough follow up note and a gift certificate as an apology. This is the wonderful customer service I’ve typically experienced at Tallgrass and I appreciate the time and humility it takes to reach out. I look forward to my next visit and to continued future positive experiences. Thank you, Tallgrass!

I have been working in Evergreen for a few years now and I must have driven by this spa a dozen times before I had a chance to stop in for my boss one day. I was enchanted by the calming atmosphere and thought to myself that I would come here for myself in the future. I took their brochure and left excited at the prospect of trying a new Aveda salon.
When I was reading about their services provided, I was pleasantly surprised to find that you can get a special discount (15%) off your service if you book a last minute appointment. I kept that in the back of my mind and then decided to utilize that one day when I knew I would have some extra time after my job in Evergreen. I called without high expectations, but found that there was an appointment available during the perfect time for me to arrive when I got off work.
I haven’t had a hair cut in almost half a year and I knew I was much overdue, so I thought it would be a good excuse to check the place out. I got there about five or ten minutes early and they were very nice about showing me around and eventually lead me to the infamous waiting room. I didn’t find it as packed as some reviewers did, but I did notice the array of people in robes and street clothes. It didn’t seem to bother anyone and I even found some guest quietly mingling with one another. I enjoyed the complimentary snacks, water, tea, and reading material. My only complaint was that it was crazy hot in that room and I was sweating by the time my stylist came to fetch me.
My nerves were quelled when I was greeting by a beautiful, smiling young girl named Francesca. She was extremely friendly and even spoke with the people around us during our appointment. That might bother some people, but I always enjoyed it when a salon was more of a meeting ground instead of a one-​on-​one session. I liked when other stylists would come by and make idle conversation and found myself very relaxed and comfortable in a salon that I had only set foot in briefly once before.
I didn’t give Francesca a very good idea of what I wanted except that I wanted to keep as much length as I could. She listened very well and only took off the dead ends while added a few more layers to take away some of the heaviness that comes with my extra thick hair. I even got a conditioning treatment to help take away some of that inevitable winter dryness that comes along with living in Colorado. I was pleased to find that not only was I going to get the normal hand and head massage that is included that all Aveda salons, but I was super excited to discover that I was privileged to get a free paraffin hand treatment as well! I love those when I get manicures, so that made me very happy. They even cleaned my wedding ring in a jewelry cleaner while my hands were getting all kinds of extra soft.
I left with a huge grin on my face after giving Francesca a big hug like we were old friends. I’m so happy to find a salon that made me feel like my simple haircut was a full on spa day. I’m going back there when I need my hair dyed again and I think I might be putting their spa packages on any and all future holiday wishlists. Thanks for the great experience!

What a wonderful experience! The drive up was amazing and the view of the elk was spectacular. The massage was so relaxing i can not wait to go back so relaxing.

I am really really hoping to get a gift certificate to this spa for Xmas this year because it is one of the most special experiences I can think of. I have gone to the Tall Grass Spa for special events with my mom for the past 10 years and absolutely think this is THE place to go for a relaxing and magical day. The first time we went we were so blown away by the price that we weren’t sure it was a good purchase but I can tell you they are worth every penny. From the amazing facilities to the friendly staff you would be hard pressed to find somewhere as relaxing as the Tall Grass Spa. I recently went to another spa for my 30^th birthday present to myself and am so disappointed that I didn’t spend just a little more money to get the royal treatment that this spa has. I have done 3, ½ day spa days here and find myself reminiscing with my mom about them multiple times a year and telling people about it on a regular basis. If you are looking for a good place to wind down whether it be for an anniversary, a birth of a baby, or maybe a bridal shower, this is your place hands down!

Visited on a trip to Denver for a haircut and style, such a fantastic experience! First the ambience of the space itself is very serene and pretty, there’s a calming outside seating area as well as inside. My hair stylist (Angela) did a great job with little direction from me — she totally nailed it. Haven’t been this pleased with a salon in a while!

I am new to Evergreen and was referred to Lacey a few weeks ago by a neighbor. Great service and great haircut! Went today for a free in-​between cut bang trim and Donna was fantastic! They rolled out the red carpet even though it was just a short service. Plus its a gorgeous setting– highly recommended.

Tall Grass has the BEST customer service I have ever had in my entire life and here is why:
Since the second we walked in they greeted us and gave us a tour of the spa. We were welcome to look around while we waited (not a long wait at all). I had a facial and my mom had a massage. The lady made time to evaluate my skin then she did the facial– it was the best facial I have ever had! My mom also said she had one of the best massages she had ever had! We were welcome to sit in the quite room which was relaxing and we both got makeup put on us for free. My mom and I both decided to buy things and it wasn’t too expensive. Also because we bought so much they gave us a complementary little tube of cucumber eye cream! So through the experience, I had the best service and great results! Do not waste your time at any other spa– Go to Tall Grass!!!

I had a really lovely experience with my husband at Tallgrass. We enjoyed a couples massage and a steam. The drive up was very serene and I found the grounds beautiful. Both of our masseuses were attentive and provided the correct amount of pressure. The steam was so so, but it was nice that they included it in the end. My only tiny complaint is they don’t really have locker rooms. You drop your shoes at the door and then they give you a locker in one of the restrooms. So if someone else is in there, you kind of just wait around until you can get in and get your stuff (seems not well thought out). It was a great day and I would be back, but I would love it if they had actual locker rooms to push them to that 5 start status.

The wife and I came here for a massage and steam for a birthday celebration. It’s a beautiful drive to get up here from Denver and if my GPS didn’t know where we were going we would have never found it.
There is no cell signal while you’re up here, which is nice, cause then you can all veg.
There’s a quiet waiting area if you get there early or have time in between sessions. It was very relaxing.
The massage itself was pretty stellar. Great pressure and communication and all my knots were worked out.
The steam didn’t remotely get up to temperature, which is my only negative. You get 20 minutes in the steam room, but when we walked in it was 77 degrees and set to 120. By the time we left it was still only 85. There was steam, but certainly not the hot, sweaty steam you expect.

Absolutely fabulous facials & worth every penny. My mom and I go here together when we go on Christmas break. They are responsive and wonderful for my skin. My skin is very finicky, and their products never caused irritation or excema. I would recommend this spa to everyone — beautiful facility.

I’ve been visiting high end spas across the country for the last 20 plus years. Over the past 15 years, Tallgrass has continued to meet or exceed my expectations every visit, about 1 time per month. The Four Seasons in Maui could learn a few things from Tallgrass. The front desk staff is pure perfection, they will help with anything you need. The staff is truly knowledgable, kind hearted and care deeply about all the clients.

Tallgrass is a nice facility. I have been there a number of times both for a day and just a single treatment. Coming from Denver it is a drive to get there and back; it is easy to get to but not convenient.

So in February I had a Brazilian here, and it was just a plain terrible experience. (The owner contacted me on Unilocal,said she would be in touch regarding the situation and never got in touch with me again)
This August my normal place was booked as was every other place in town, (and even all the way to Golden). I made an appointment here again, and again, it was a terrible experience. Painful, long and expensive. And before anyone goes all «Of course it’s painful… blah de blah blah». I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and don’t flinch at all normally. Was waxed by a different woman this time as well.
As far as I’m concerned I’m not going anywhere else than the place I currently go. If I have to wait 3 weeks to get in, then so be it I’m waiting.
Honestly, the entire experience has turned me off from using them for my hair.

Sorry Tallgrass, but I’ve never been anything but disappointed.
A friend flew in from NY for my 40^th birthday and we decided to spend a day here. The appointments were confused. I asked for a female masseuse and ended up with a young man who was probably 21. They forgot to book my pedicure. My friend was served lunch but they forgot mine. It was just one thing after another. I know mistakes are made — and I make plenty of my own — so I’m usually pretty forgiving but they didn’t seem to care. No effort at all to make me a happy customer.
I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. This time I had a facial which I enjoyed. But the woman who provided the service spent 10 minutes trying to sell me all of the products she used. A facial is supposed to be relaxing — and it was — until I felt like the treatment was being given by a used car salesperson.
It’s a beautiful setting. My friends have enjoyed it and I wish I had too, but I won’t be back.

I live in Evergreen and have been coming to Tall Grass off and on for hair services. I love the windy road with the prestigious beautiful homes on the drive to Tall Grass. It’s a beautiful drive and you will be relaxed by the time you arrive to the spa.
I like to get my hair done at Tall Grass because it’s close, convenient, and it’s an Aveda Spa. I like Aveda color. It’s also a beautiful place to get your hair done and I have always had a good stylist and my hair looks great.
I recently met Ondrea before the holidays a hair stylist at Tall Grass. Every time I see her I am getting lots of complements on my hair color and cut. She really knows a lot about hair and color. They also give you a complimentary paraffin hand treatment while your hair is processing. A nice added bonus for dry skin. I love it!
So for hair services I give Tall Grass 4 stars. As for a day spa I give it 3 stars– I prefer larger spas with rain showers, hydrotherapy pools, fitness and yoga rooms, steam showers, jacuzzi’s and saunas like at the Ameristar, Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek and Vegas. When I day spa that’s the kind of spa I choose to spend my money. However
Tall Grass is my pick for a nail service or for hair services in the Evergreen area.
Everyone should go there at least once as it is beautiful.
