Torfab specializes in repairing, restoring, and upgrading Toyota Land Cruisers. We also work on Tacoma’s, 4Runners, and Tundra’s. We also help with expedition outfitting, suspension modifications, winches, electronics, engine conversions, and frame off restorations.

History

Established in 2008.

Torfab was started in Tor’s home garage in 2008, where a Diesel Land Cruiser was created out of a 1983 FJ60 and a new powerplant. From there we relocated to a facility in Mukilteo where we build restomod cruisers with brand new powerplants and modern touches to the interior while maintaining classic styling.

Tor moved to the US from Norway in 1988, where he always tinkered with cars and electronics. He grew Torfab organically through a true interest in Land Cruisers and the support of his family. He is typically found under a Land Cruiser with dirty hands and stained carharts. If he had to quit working on cruisers all day, it would become a J-​O-​B.

If you have a land cruiser and haven’t come here you already screwed up. This place knows what good work is and will charge you a fair price. Not only that but they’re HONEST through the entire process and aren’t going to recommend unnecessary procedures. I gave them 5 stars simply because I can’t give them 10⁄5.

These guys really need no review. Word of mouth has spread and that’s what brought me in. I’ve had a lot of cars in my day and a lot of work done. Never had such a frank, easy to understand conversation with a mechanic. Never gotten a bill so low either. Happily flabbergasted. They book out months ahead so I went ahead and made another appointment 3 months out cause I know if I want anything done– this is the only spot I’m ever going to. Owning an older vehicle has it’s disadvantages and somehow they just took all the bite out. I already know I’ve become a 4runner driver for life, they just made me feel tons safer doing it. One happy happy customer.

I had to leave a review after my latest experience. This is obviously a niche shop that once you know, you know.
Anyhow, I was about to embark on a 1500 mile trip in my cruiser. Two days before I left, I took it to them to refresh the suspension. When i got it back there was an unexplainable and disconcerting clicking noise. I took it back 15 mins before they closed and they proceeded to troubleshoot it for the next two hours.
Unable to figure out what was wrong and since I live 1+ hour away they didn’t want something catastrophic to happen on my way home or on the drive back up the next day.
SO ONE OF THE GUYS LENT ME HIS PERSONAL LAND CRUISER to take home for the night while they worked on mine. This was clearly beyond the already exceptional service I expected.
Plus where else am I going to get an 80 series on 35″ tires as a loaner?
I’ve only had my truck for a little over a year but these guys have come through again and again with exceptional service and quality work.

My experience is the same as everybody else: This is the only place to go if you own a Land Cruiser. They are enthusiasts and know Toyotas. Their product knowledge and problem solving abilities are superb and the work is meticulous. Although they tout themselves as Land Cruiser specialists I am sure they would be just as good with any Toyota SUV. Five big stars.

Glad I found these guys after much research and recommendations from
and Seattle Cruiserheads. They did extensive work on my ’79 FJ40 recently (fuel tank removal and cleaning, all new fuel lines, fuel pump, brake mods, steering refurb, etc.). Not exactly a handy location for me as I live in Issaquah, but well worth the effort. If you have an old cruiser this is the place you’ve been looking for.

If you drive a Toyota Landcruiser, 4Runner, truck, SUV, etc., Mukilteo is the place to go. Tor Slinning and his crew are the most competent, honest and friendly Landcruiser technicians in Washington state. My three Landcruisers (gas, diesel, converted, built, museum pieces, etc.) have all been subject to great care.
These guys are specialists and Torfab is nationally recognized and respected in the Landcruiser community.
The quality work, compassionate service and economic value (what you get/​what you pay) are all top notch.
I would trust these guys with my dog — as well as my Cruisers.

To say that I am a regular, return customer at Torfab is an understatement! I have gone to Torfab for various problems with 5 different vehicles over the years (and spent probably in the neighborhood of $ 15 – 20,000 overall). He and his crew can diagnose just about anything Toyota SUV-​related. But the awesome thing is they do a whole lot more than just service — they can come up with creative solutions to unique problems and needs, including building complete expedition vehicles to (sometimes unreasonable) spec. I have an 80-​series Landcruiser that Tor has helped me build into the ultimate overland vehicle, but he’s also done a headgasket and more routine maintenance on my wife’s 100 series, and worked on more than one of my earlier 60-​series trucks for all kinds of things.
I absolutely won’t hesitate to go to Torfab for anything I need.

If you have a land cruiser, from fj-​40 through fj80 and newer, there is absolutely no other place in the Seattle area to take your vehicle except TORFAB in Mukilteo. I did A LOT of research before bringing my 1985 FJ60 to Tor Slinning and his crew to have some work done. He will be my regular mechanic until she dies. He’s going to get a ton of business from me because I’m planning on doing a near-​full restoration to turn this car into my daily driver. So far, knuckle rebuild, fixed my oil leaks, fixed my non-​firing cylinders (1&2) at idle, rerouted vacuum hose, replaced belts, and tuned up my engine for a very reasonable price. They do amazing work, you won’t be disappointed. Read the reviews, go to

Brought my ’97 Landcruiser in at a colleague’s suggestion, since my regular mechanic couldn’t identify source of intermittent brake problems.
Tor not only identified a pretty rare problem, but repaired it on the spot, saving me a second trip, and for a very reasonable amount!
Totally appreciate this place — and highly recommend.

Tor did an awesome job on my 85 4Runner. New V6 brakes in the front, EFI power package from LCE, cross over steering, fixed front caster angle, front knuckle rebuild, and fixed rear suspension. Great work Tor!

TorFab has been working on my 1982 Toyota FJ40 for a couple of years. I have found their work to be extremely professional, and they are quick to offer suggestions to improve the quality and reliability of my rig. At the same time, they have been quick to save me money by pointing out things that didn’t need attention. I would recommend TorFab to anyone with a Land Cruiser looking for repair, restoration or customization work.
