The Mark on 4th Apartments

The one star is earned by a good first impression, and the indoor pool. That said, it’s not at all worth the money. The rent is way too high for a complex with not nearly enough parking, drug deals in the parking lot, and an abundance of crime in the area. There were times that we literally heard gun shots from our bedroom. If you do need to move in, be CERTAIN to document everything that even needs dusting, because there is no way you are getting a deposit back, and they’ll charge you for anything that they can on move out. We didn’t allow our dogs in the bedroom EVER, but we were charged for replacement due to «pet damage»…above and beyond the pet deposit. If possible, put your money in to a condo. My mortgage is less than their rent, and I know my money isn’t going to a greedy bunch of thieves.

There are so many issues I don’t even know where to start. Let’s see, upon move in my dryer didn’t work, the top drawer in the kitchen’s handle fell off, the cupboard door under the sink in the kitchen was barely attached, there was overspray of a horrible paint job in the kitchen and both bathrooms. The dryer was fixed quickly when I reported it but you’d think it would have worked upon moving in!
It only gets worse from there. The first night I noticed bugs crawling on the walls and to my absolute horror they were COCKROACHES. I have never EVER in my life even seen a cockroach and a friend had to tell me what they were. They were EVERYWHERE! I have a toddler and this was absolutely unacceptable! I notified management and they offered to move me to a bottom floor unit. As soon as I walked passed the patio door it was a hell no from me as I could see broken glass on the ground from where it looks like there was an attempted break in. When I looked inside I saw a HUGE live spider. Not only that, it was very dim and smaller than my unit yet they wanted to charge the same price. I declined but I wanted the bugs gone! They said they would send someone to spray and they did but they refused to spray as I hadn’t moved things properly from my kitchen and bathroom. At this point I had been seeing a LOT less roaches as I am a clean person and when the person cane by a couple days later for the follow up spray he sprayed around for me to kill off what was left. He also mentioned he had personally told management that no one should move in due to the infestation! I didn’t see any roaches for a couple weeks but it now seems they are coming back and they are huge!
Another huge problem is PARKING!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! in the two months I have been here my friend has been towed from the high school across the street (it’s rare to find an open spot in this complex unless you pay extra for a carport) even though it was the management that says to park there if no spots are available! Not only that, I have been towed from a carport in front of my building as I have a 1 year old I can’t carry from across the street at the high school all the way to my unit! So I parked in what I thought to be an open carport and was towed! It costed me $ 300 to get it out after it had been towed less than 12 hours prior!!! This place lies constantly and if I’m not reimbursed for the towing costs I’ll be getting an attorney. Let’s just say I can’t wait until my lease is up and I’m out if here!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! On top of everything I’ve said the rent is insane! A 3 bed 2 bath runs for almost $ 1500! And the crowd here isn’t horrible but I’ve definitely heard people screaming and came across about 7 syringes on the ground in the parking lot walking from my car one day so there’s obviously a heroin problem. Beware and read all the reviews!!!
Upsides: vaulted ceilings (top floor only), gym (a crappy one but a gym nonetheless), big master bedroom, and a big deck. Management is also fairly nice depending who you talk to. Laura is pretty good but all in all management is shady as hell and will lie to get you to move in. Beware!

Ask lots of questions. Get everything in writing. Ask about mold & bed bugs & any garbage issues. Ask about security & hours & days the office is open. Get it in writing.

Parking is absolutely terrible. You can live here, but you can’t park here. They offered me a spot on the opposite side of the complex for $ 30/​month. That’s a lot of money to be always far away.
Very dirty too. Broken glass and the walkways are covered in stains.
Payment system working is hit and miss. Wish I could still just hand them a check in person.
Management is nice though.

I wrote a previous review about nothing but positive things and now I regret it. This place was great at first and Laura is the BEST in the office! However I would recommend to Not move in here. Very cheaply put together inside and was not clean when we moved in (didn’t even look vacuumed…), now that I’ve been living here for 5 months, my car has gotten broken into. The sink in the kitchen keeps leaking even though someone came to «fix it». Closet in the living room keeps breaking off, and a maintenance guy came to «fix» it but he told me to not open it. I use it all the time, as I keep my towels and vitamins in there. I did open it and it fell off right away. A survey came in my email asking about my experience and told me someone would contact me about it to fix it and no one called. The manager is not the nicest either; she wouldn’t even wrote me a receipt for my RENT that I was trying to pay to her, because someone was going to go on a tour (it takes two minutes to write out a receipt. I am a current resident they should care about my concerns as well because I am CURRENTLY paying to live here). I’m just disappointed because this is my first place I moved on my own and it was a pleasant moving experience.

This review is specifically for Laura, one of the leasing consultants. We have been lucky to work with her throughout our leasing process in which she has done a tremendous job. She has shown genuine concern for the property and the tenants, particularly when she asked my significant other why he was moving out of Beacon, their sister property. We told her we didn’t like the layout of the apartment to which she would question further and listened attentively to our feedback.
As for the leasing process at The Mark, we ran into some roadblocks, which became stressful as the move-​out date for my old apartments was approaching. She worked hard and was persistent on trying to get our application approved. Alas, she was successful and we got our keys! Thanks for all your hard work, Laura!
We have only been here for a couple of weeks, but the rest of the office and maintenance crew have been welcoming and friendly. Maintenance requests have been addressed in a timely manner so far. In a span of one day, they fixed our garbage disposal, non-​functioning outlets, and repainted a patch in our bathroom. While they were at it, one of the maintenance crew noticed that our sink faucet was loose and fixed it right away! Super impressed with their quick response and helpful attitude. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch their names, but if management is reading this, please send them our gratitude!
Some of the perks of our unit location are the abundance of trees! Love love the seemingly nature-​like scenery from our balcony which allows us to forget that we live right by the road. And did I mention valet trash pick-​up? I’m assuming this is to address the problem of trash overflow in the communal waste bin, but judging from the size of the community, I’m not surprised. All in all, we are super excited to see what the rest of the year will bring forth.

They made some staff changes which has helped this place out a lot. I called the other day for a repair of my kitchen sink and Shae had someone out right away. I appreciate that because I couldn’t really do much without a kitchen sink.

The lady who gave me a tour was very friendly so I would give her 5 stars but the complex isn’t very inviting. The nice lady at the front desk gave me a tour of a townhouse which was large but it smelled soooo bad in there! I was not impressed at all after seeing 5 different complexes that day. The garage was filthy as well. I was surprised I was shown the townhouse in that condition. I did not come back. I heard on the news about trash piling up but I thought I’d give it a try anyways.

They are starting to clean up the place and playground, havent had anymore issues. I havent seen the trash over flowing like it has in the past. Not ⁴⁄₅ star yet but hopefully they will continue to clean the place up and get there.
