They’re great. I have used them for 4 years or maybe more and haven’t had a disappointment yet. I like that the tip is included in the charge. Cars are clean, drivers are responsible and polite and timely. Recently, when my flight from London was delayed for 20 hours (yes 20!), they called me on my cell while I was at Heathrow to let me know that they would pick me up the next day when my re-​scheduled flight got in. They knew the flight before those of us stuck at the gate were told! It was comforting to hear from them.

Great car service to airport especially if you need a car seat. They provided a clean convertible car seat for our 6 month old that was in good condition. Driver was punctual and nice. Car was also in great condition. Will use again.

I have been a loyal customer since 2007, using PlanetTran over 200 times for both business and personal use on both the East and West Coasts. The past week, I was unable to secure transportation 48 hours in advance on two different occasions. The company was recently acquired by another company and increased fares to include tips. Customer service couldn’t offer an explanation other than that they are busy. I don’t know if they have cut the number of cars/​drivers. I can no longer rely on PlanetTran unless I book more than 48 hours in advance. It’s a shame.

I find the drivers to be much more reliable in getting me to the airport than relying on family friends or cab. Especially when ya have an early flight, who likes asking a friend to wake up at 4 am to get ya to the airport. I have used Über in NYC and find PT to be more reliable.

This 1 star is not for the drivers or their punctuality. I have used this service for more than 2 years, to and from the airport, because it is incredibly reliable.
When I recently had a question about billing — I’ve both been billed for intermediate stops and then not billed on many other occasions — I was met with patronizing responses from customer service. In so many words, I was told that the fault was the drivers’ and that they’d correct the policy. They would not, however, correct the **double** charge I received.
Need to get to the airport on time? Yes, PlanetTran will do that for you. Like to pay $ 135 for a cab and feel screwed by indiscriminate application of company policies? They’ll do that, too.

The service itself was fine — I like being picked up in a hybrid car and the driver was fine. The main problem I had was with billing. They won’t send a receipt with the total amount billed until a day after the ride is completed. This is really inconvenient for someone travelling on business who likes to update there expense report as they go so they don’t have to worry about forgetting things.

I’m still loving PlanetTran!
The driver met me on time, despite my flight arriving 30 minutes early! They’re always prompt, courteous, and they drive responsibly. While they’re more expensive than a taxi, they’re a lot less hassle, a LOT less stressful, and much more professional.
They’re a great local company!

Driver was there early and was super friendly and helpful. We had requested a car seat for our toddler and it was perfectly ready to go the moment we arrived which was great (cause its rare to find a cab company with car seats apparently). The fare to Natick was fair enough. Ask for Mark if you want a friendly and awesome driver. Will definitely be booking with PlanetTran again.

Like an idiot, I booked a 6 am flight for Thanksgiving day. «It’s so cheap!» … «wait, the T won’t be running yet». Lesson learned.
Having Googled Boston-​area cab companies, PlanetTran came up, and I noticed that their Twitter feed had a 50% off coupon (for first-​time bookers, I think). The $ 70 flat rate from Brookline to Logan was knocked down to an affordable $ 35, and I was able to pay for and reserve my ride online, confirming my pickup time and address.
The driver (in a snappy looking suit) was early for my 4:00 am pickup, and the car was impeccable. Just a fantastic experience.
(The website says that tipping isn’t required, but I couldn’t help but give my driver something… even though in no way did I feel pressured to tip).
I’ll probably never use them unless I can get similar discounts, because $ 70 to go to the airport (from Brookline) is just not in my budget, but if any of you out there regularly take car services or have expense accounts, do yourselves a favor and check out PlanetTran.

I am on the fence about PlanetTran. One intra-​Boston ride and a pickup at SFO were painless (though the 50% coupon might have made me extra patient.)
But then we booked a car from Logan after a redeye. Pick up is far from intuitive — on the departures floor, across two lanes of traffic. Not a big deal if we had known. But no, there was nothing obvious on the website when we made our reservation, and no mention with our confirmation. Still, we would have survived if our driver had mentioned something when he called that AM («I’m holding a sign in Departures» which any logical human being would understand as INDOORS in departures.) Or if he had picked up his phone during our repeated calls to him after wandering around the entirety of departures (but not crossing TWO lanes of traffic, our bad.) No, instead we finally had to pull out our computer, fill our a survey from Diet Coke to get online, find the 1 – 800 number, and call in to an annoyed guy with a Boston accent who clearly deals with our exact same problem every day. PlanetTran, if you have to deal with the problem every day, maybe you should communicate to your users BEFORE it becomes an issue?
So plus one star for the prius, and plus one for the other good experiences. Minus a star each for the expense, the inability to communicate pick-​up location and the annoyed guy on the phone (sorry, after 6 hours next to a screaming toddler, with my expensive car service no where in sight, I’m the only one who gets to be annoyed.) Next time I will probably wait in the line for a taxi and just request a prius (the fleet has plenty). It will be cheaper, and save a lot of agida.

I had a 5:30 AM flight to East Jesus one morning, and thought that it’d be smart to book with these guys, given their reputation for actually showing up if you make a reservation for an ungodly hour. Sure enough, at 3 AM, there’s a guy in a suit driving a brand-​new hybrid right outside my house. This is the point where I also learned that when there’s no traffic you can drive from Central Square to Logan in 7 minutes.
They’re somewhat more expensive than a regular cab, but next time I have to get somewhere in the middle of the night I’ll keep them in mind.

Thanks to Unilocal I discovered PlanetTran’s car service. Over the years I used BostonCoach; however their prices steadily increased without any discernible change to their service.
At first, I was apprehensive about trying the service thinking it was just a another cab company. To my pleasant surprise, the service was that of a highly professional car service. My driver was 10min early (5am pickup) and suit clad — same for my trip back from the airport.
As other reviews stated, it’s more expensive than a cab. Which I would expect for a car service, not a cab service.

I haven’t been able to get ahold of Chill Out First Class Cab lately (Al, hope you’re doing okay!), and have switched over to PlanetTran. Admittedly, the price point makes them best for business travel where you can expense stuff, but I love the concept of using hybrids, and their service is amazing. Drivers are always on-​time (in fact, usually so early I feel bad for keeping them waiting). I also used them recently to pick us up at Logan during a snowstorm, which was so much more convenient and better than dragging family out in the snow to dig out their car and get us. PlanetTran saved the day!

I arranged for a PlanetTran car 2 days before my flight, and I really liked their website — I could see that if I was in the market for frequent car services, it would be a big time saver.
Cost from the Alewife area to Logan was $ 59, which is about $ 15 more than the cab cost coming back. However, I personally think it’s worth a little extra on the way to the airport to ensure that the car will be ready when I am. The driver showed up 5 minutes early, and had a very clean and surprisingly spacious Toyota Prius ready and waiting. I didn’t get a chance to try out the in-​car Wi-​Fi, but that’s a cool feature if you happen to get stuck in traffic or something.
I would definitely use them again.

Great service! Had a 6AM flight with wifey, so we had no choice but get a cab. But, I have met someone from PlanetTran at one of the networking events and she sent me a discount code, so we decided to try.
Driver was fantastic. Fun Haitian dude with some fun stories. Ended up chatting about soccer and retirement homes the entire ride.
We tipped him on the pre-​discount amount. He earned every penny of his tip.
Would I use them without a discount… I am too frugal, so probably no. Full quote was $ 60 from Davis Square. Bit steep, especially including tip.

I don’t use taxis very often, so I’m not well-​acquainted with how much trips usually cost. I feel like $ 55 from Cambridge to Logan is a bit much, but with this service you definitely get what you pay for.
I needed a ride to Logan at 4 AM. My driver showed up 10 minutes early, dressed quite dapper, cheerful and enthusiastic. The car was a new Prius, and was immaculate. After 15 mins of pleasant conversation we were at the Drop-​Off. No fuss, no muss.
All reservations and payment is done through the company’s website, which is probably a plus for anyone reading this review. I agree with the previous reviewer about the tipping policy — it’s unclear but I would go ahead and tip if your driver does a good job. I don’t find wifi to be a major selling point in a cab; if the trip is going to be long enough to warrant using the internet en route I wouldn’t want to be paying a cab fare. That said, there is wifi in the car, and that’s nifty.

I’m taking two stars away because I recently was looking over the website to book a trip and they’ve changed their answer regarding whether tips are included. Originally the website was stated something to the effect of all tips and fees are included in the price you are quoted. Now it states:
Do the fares include tips?
Tips are neither included nor expected for our services. We believe in fair and comprehensive wages for all our employees. Our driver compensation model is based on their time, not the trip, which results in the most efficient, convenient, and streamlined experience for our customers.
But, may I tip extra for outstanding service?
We don’t encourage or discourage small cash tips as a token of appreciation for superior service that we expect our drivers, as well as other employees, to deliver to you as part of their job. Please be aware, that based on our compensation model, tips are not expected or included in our flat rates, we can’t provide a receipt for cash tips, nor can we add a tip to a credit card or invoiced transaction.
Ok well are you supposed to tip or aren’t you? Because I like to err on the side of caution and it certainly seems based on the above that you actually are kind of expected to tip. If you’re not expected to tip, you should have a clear policy that states drivers won’t accept tips, otherwise I’m going to feel like I should be tipping. $ 45 from Southie to Logan was a little expensive in the first place, but worth it at least at times when it’s hard to catch a cab, but $ 45 plus a $ 10 tip? Eh, I might to look around at other car companies.

I love PlanetTran. I started using them my freshman year of college because they 1) gave a discount to Student Advantage cardholders (don’t know if they still do that), 2) take credit cards, 3) cater to my yuppie tree-​hugger self. They have always been on time, know where they are going (thanks to GPS in the car), and very friendly to me.

I’ve been using PlanetTran for at least 2 years now, and I love it. It’s amazing that a ride to the airport in a clean, smoke-​free, comfy *hybrid* car costs about the same for me as a ride to the airport in a standard cab. It just makes the cost of the fare that much more worth it.
The online system for reserving rides is awesome! You can build an address book of locations, so that you can get a ride from your home to the airport, or from work to the train station, or wherever. The forms all make sense, and ask for just about everything they would need to know ahead of time. You can even make multiple stops on your way to your destination, and estimates are easy to come by on the web sie. You can connect your account to a credit card (as an individual without the need to be a fancy corporate account), and the cost of your fair includes tax and tip, so you don’t need to worry about having cash when you get into the car at 4am for a 6am flight you spent all night packing for… but that’s never happened to me. ;D
When the car arrives, you get a call letting you know they’re outside. «I’ll be out in a minute,» always meets a relaxed «take your time» reply, which is really nice. If you’re coming to/​from the airport and you give them your flight info, they can track your flight and adjust your pickup time for delays or early arrivals, and they will call you at the airport to let you know they’re in the limo patch waiting for you.
On my most recent trip (I use PlanetTran consistently at least 3x/​year), I accidentally left my house keys in the car when I got out. I called from the plane (which is when I realized they were gone), and the operator called the very car I’d been in, verified the location of my keys, and asked if they should drop them off at home (my husband was there to receive them) or just bring them when they pick me up on return. Super classy customer service.
They are expanding, and if you check their site you’ll see that they now also serve Providence, Manchester, San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland airports, so you could use PlanetTran on both legs of your journey.
