I’m disappointed that people on here would rate Dr. Ortuzar on the behavior of someone in the office. She happens to run a tight ship and knows it’s important to surround herself with kind, competent technicians. And, that’s what she has done. My daughter is 12, she had her first appointment with Dr. Ortuzar as a toddler, she has never had a cavity despite having a terrible sweet tooth. Every six months she has her teeth cleaned and sealed, every other appointment she has x-​rays. Dr. Ortuzar and her staff are extremely competent, gentle, and they take the time to educate the kids and parents on how to properly care for their teeth. I have never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment, the office is beautiful with a kid-​centric rainforest theme, the staff has always been friendly toward us, the service quick and efficient.

I have been a loyal customer, sending my 2 boys to Children’s Dental Center for a total of about 10 years. I am private pay and ALWAYS pay in full at the time of the visit. I’ve recently experienced some unprofessional and unkind behavior by one of the office staff members who insists that I owe a balance of $ 14 but has been unable to tell me why x 3. It’s not about the money. I want to definitely pay what is mine. However, this person continually harasses me by phone and mail even without documentation of WHY I owe this. Instead of treating me like the loyal customer that I am who has spent thousands of dollars at the office, I am being treated like I don’t matter at all. I am saddened and surprised that the dentist would allow for this kind of behavior. The customer service is atrocious. They have just lost 2 long standing patients and any good recommendations.

I took my daughter to Dr. Ortuzar for several years until recently when she made a mistake I could not ignore. She only gives information on the treatment option she wants your child to have and withholds information so you cannot make an informed decision. The last straw for me and my daughter is when she failed to educate us on the options to protect teeth during braces and then when the braces were off blamed my daughter for the cavities. She told my daughter her teeth looked ugly-​that is cruel. I had to take the little information I could force her to share with me and do research on my own to find treatment options. I have since taken her to a new dentist who kindly provided all treatment options available. Her teeth look beautiful again after some simple treatments never mentioned by Dr. Ortuzar-​her only option was an expensive cosmetic option which she told me my daughter couldn’t have until she learned to brush better (the next dentist said the cavities she had were not due to poor brushing but difficulty getting to the area because of braces). Dr. Ortuzar also ignored two cavities in my daughter’s mouth (I took her for cleanings every six months) resulting in very deep caries which now have to be watched for root canal treatment. Why she didn’t give us the option of filling them at the early stages to avoid this is, in my opinion, unprofessional.

Dr. Ortuzar has been my children’s dentist since we moved to Everett 5 years ago. My oldest son has had a lot of dental anxiety. Dr. Ortuzar and her staff have a very compassionate, yet no nonsense approach that has worked very well for my son. My children don’t mind going to see Dr Ortuzar at all. I really appreciate having a dentist that makes my children feel comfortable. She does their twice yearly cleanings and has also done a couple of small fillings on my younger son and extracted a couple of retained primary teeth on my older son and we’ve been very happy with everything.

I have been bringing my kids to Dr. Ortuzar for 8 years, She has always been very caring with them and her staff is great. Last sunday evening my daughter fell on the hardwood floor and broke her two permanent front teeth!!! As any parent can imagine it was very scary for all of us! After calling Dr. Ortuzar and explaining what happened she had us meet her at the ofice right away. We figured out a plan to see a specialist the next day for a root canal. The specialist decided it would be best to wait and see what would happen with the teeth than to fix anything at this point. As a mother of a 7 year old little girl i was horrified with the thought she would have to go back to school looking like she had lost a bar fight! The plan was to cover the exposed nerves on the teeth and just wait. My daughter went back to see Dr. Ortuzar, I waited patiently in the waiting room not sure what to expect when i saw her. When she was finished she had me come back and told me she had treated my daughter just as she would of her own. All i can say is when i saw my daughters teeth i cried! they looked just as beautiful as before the accident, it was like it had never happened. Dr. Ortuzar is simply AMAZING not only is she beyond talented at what she does she is also a wonderful caring person who truly cares about her patients. Simply the best!
