Small, clean space owned by a very sweet couple. The food is delicious, generously portioned and includes delicious sides of fried dumpling-type things and kimchi

1st off nice & friendly people serving some darn good teriyaki. In the context of teriyaki joints this one is a 5!

Ownership has changed hands at this restaurant, and in my humble opinion now does not quite measure up to my prior rating. On a return trip to a newer teriyaki place(Nom Nom), I’m finding now that I prefer them to Bento & Teriyaki.

Good not great. They advertise that they offer large portions, but I’m used to Yummy Teriyaki in Redmond who is notorious for extremely large portions to where you won’t be able to finish. I downed their chicken teriyaki with room to spare. Not that it’s an eating competition, but if you advertise that you offer large portions, please do so. Other than that, the chicken was cooked well, the sauce was just as good as many other teriyaki joints and the salad dressing is exactly like I make at home. So overall, nothing special, but good nonetheless.

This place is really a cut above most other Teriyaki places in the area. For one thing, it’s CLEAN. This is really important to me, because I’ve been poisoned by Teriyaki at another place, and it wasn’t fun ! Teriyaki sauce is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, since it is pure sugar and usually kept at room temperature. A dirty Teriyaki restaurant with unsanitary practices has a great chance of serving you a side order of Salmonella, more so than most places. This place has a bright, cheery dining room that is always spotless, and the bathroom is clean as well. This bodes well for the kitchen, methinks… and I’ve eaten here probably a hundred times without as much as heartburn. The food here is quite good, and all the usual«teriyaki joint» favorites are present. My favorites include spicy garlic chicken, and kalbi short ribs, although everything I’ve tried there has been very good. Make sure you really like garlic if you order the garlic chicken, they use plenty. I usually just order whatever the lunch special is, which is a good way to try new things and I trust them enough to know it will be excellent, whatever it is. Portions are generous, and include a small salad with a delicious dressing. Meals come with a choice of a can of soda or a bottle of water from the cooler, and they keep a pot of Miso soup out front, also included with the a meal(dine-in only). I get cravings for Miso soup, and it has prompted me to visit Bento more than once… so their«free soup» strategy works on me. Prices are very reasonable, in the $ 5-$ 7 dollar range. They offer a frequent flyer punch card, buy ten meals get one free. Heckuva deal ! The Japanese lady that works the counter is a delight, her smile lights up the room and she really goes out of her way to take care of you. I am somewhat of a regular for lunch, and since my lunch break is in mid-afternoon, I often catch her and her father(?) taking a meal break during the post-lunch lull. They are usually eating something they whipped up in back, and not necessarily anything from the menu. One day it was fried fish, and I asked if it was the daily special. She said no, but would you like to try it? Quick as a flash I had a plate in front of me, and it was da bomb diggety ! Since then, they’ve done this a few times for me, and it’s always something great. Really nice people. If you enjoy Teriyaki, hit this place up. You won’t regret it !

What is unbelievable to me, is that I have lived in Everett for a little over a year, and I have never ventured out to order Teriyaki. It’s not that I don’t like it. I do. I have just had several bad experiences with mediocre Teriyaki in my time. Well, Bento & Teriyaki is a few blocks from where I live, and so I decided to try them out last night. It is a small restaurant that is clean and inviting inside. They provide a nice large picture menu to preview the items they offer. They have a nice variety of bento box meals and teriyaki dishes. They also make Bul-go-gi and Mongolian beef/chicken. I went with 2 regular size orders of chicken teriyaki, and 2 egg rolls. The total came to around $ 16.00. One of the greatest things about Bento & Teriyaki, is they give you a FREEDRINK with your order! Not only that, While I was sitting for a few minutes waiting for my order, I noticed that they provide free miso soup for dine in customers! Free soup and Free beverage with a $ 5.99 order? It’s too good to hope for! Once I got it home, the meal was a HUGE(for a regular) portion of grilled lightly sauced chicken, 2 scoops rice and a little salad with miso dressing. The egg roll was ok, it was from frozen, not homemade. I was very satisfied, and highly recommend them if you are in the area!
