Specialties
A Sacred Moment provides funeral choices for a changing world. We support families in need of funeral services including cremation, green burials, home funeral vigils, life celebrations and conventional burial services.
We’re a community of people who want to do death differently. We believe in choice – that you can resist pressure and do things your way. We also promote new (actually old) earth-friendly customs.
History
Established in 2007.
A Sacred Moment is a different kind of funeral service. Owner Char Barrett came to the name through her work with grieving families. «When people take their time to create a home funeral, plan a green burial or life celebration honoring a special life lived,» says Char, «they create the opening for ~ a sacred moment ~ to emerge.»
Many such moments have occurred since 2007, when Char started her one-woman «alternative funeral service». Her first office in Seattle was opened in 2007. In early 2010, the business added its office in south Everett.
Char plus four other women comprise her staff, making ASM one of the few all-female funeral homes in the country. It’s one of the first to offer home funerals and green burials as its central vision, while still providing cremations and conventional burials. Probably the best illustration of ASM is Bindi, a miniature labradoodle, she’s an actual staffer, trained therapy dog. She loves to greet families as they come through the door.
