J.E. Shekell, Inc. was founded in 1978 by John E. Shekell. From a one van heating and air conditioning shop, he expanded into the electrical and plumbing business. In the ‘80s, John Shekell took their service one step further into the future by acquiring George Koch Sons’ service center. This purchase made Shekell the largest HVAC service company in the tri-​state area. From service and new installation, Shekell stepped into the arena of design/​build projects and plan/​specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell purchased WSC Associates a well established engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. The new subsidiary opened up a full design capability for Shekell, making him a leading presence in the area. Reflecting back, John Shekell contributes the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to his customers, loyal employees, extensive technical training and a proven track record showing safety as one of the top priorities.

Meet the Business Owner

Kevin S.

Business Owner

Kevin is an Evansville, Indiana native graduating from Reitz HS in 1988. Kevin began working full time at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. He was a service technician for 8 years and during this time he earned his Associates degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After working as a service technician he started as a residential HVAC salesman. Kevin then added commercial industrial HVAC/​sheet metal estimator and project manager to his resume. He attended Oakland City University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Management.

Kevin became the Vice President of Construction in 2004. He completed his Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in December of 2006.

He has been married for 16 years and has two children.

He was the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 – 2006.

In January of 2009 Kevin was named President of J.E. Shekell.
