UB has 6 Chicagoland locations, accepts most insurance plans and has a billing department that can help keep counseling affordable. History

Established in 2004.

Urban Balance is a counseling group practice that was founded in 2004 that has grown to have 5 locations in Chicagoland (downtown Chicago, Ravenswood, Evanston, Libertyville & Highland Park). UB has over 40 therapists on staff who specialize in different issues related to mental health, addiction, relationship concerns, career and overall wellness. Therapists at UB provide counseling to individuals, couples families and groups. UB makes therapy affordable and accessible by being in-​network with most insurance plans and offering sliding fee services. We believe seeking therapy is healthy and proactive and something we all could benefit from at different points in our lives.

Meet the Business Owner

Joyce M.

Business Owner

Joyce Marter has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 1998 specializing in providing therapy to adults dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship issues and career concerns. In addition to seeing her own clients, Joyce runs Urban Balance, serves on the board of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association and has been regularly quoted in the media as a psychological expert. Joyce received the Alumni of the Year Award in 2008 from the Masters of Counseling Psychology Program at Northwestern University. She was selected for the Crain’s Chicago «40 Under 40» List of 2010.
