This place is a GEM and a 5-STAR find in Evanston. I live in Evanston, and walk a couple blocks out of my way to go here. I also have a number of friends that I’ve referred that now drive from the city to have their tailoring done. Their work is impeccable and precise. I lost 18 pounds and recently had many dresses, suits and pants taken in. Their work is exacting and everything fits me perfectly! It is run by a husband and wife team and they are always warm and welcoming. FANTASTIC!

I LOVE this cleaners! It’s a husband and wife who own and run this place and they are great. They are fast and very efficient. I have also used them to alter a bridesmaid dress for my sister’s wedding and the wife did a great job. They recognize me every time and always know what I brought in to clean even if I left there a couple weeks. And I don’t go but maybe once a month to every other month. I don’t think they are that expensive but I also believe that you get what you pay for and I think they are worth the price!

So, I’ve used Town Cleaners twice for dry cleaning. The first time, it seemed fine and the price for a cocktail dress was reasonable. I don’t remember what it was(because it was reasonable and thus didn’t make an impression). The second time, I brought men’s pants, a silk skirt and a dress. That bill was $ 23. Am I high, or is that way too much? I looked at the breakdown and the dress alone was $ 12.50. It is a non-delicate cotton/poly blend with no stains or complicated detail. I gave them at least a week to do the job. Again, am I high? Because I’m not sure who’s high, I have to leave it at three stars. If someone versed in the price structures of dry cleaning could enlighten me, I will leave the door open for another visit. But my spidey sense tells me there are better prices elsewhere.

I agree with Coleen K. It cost three times as much as I normally pay to have a dress cleaned. And the woman was very dismissive when I questioned her about it.

I came here with a set of curtains that smelled a bit stuffy and figured they could use a dry clean. The cost for that service? $ 112. I’d rather the stuffy curtains. The cleaning job is fine. The issue is, Town Cleaners doesn’t give you a price estimate or receipt when you come in. Instead, they spring an enormous price tag on you after they finish the cleaning service. Not only are prices steep, but the woman I spoke with was unreceptive and dismissive to my complaint. I’d recommend going to BC, right across the street, where prices are given beforehand and service is friendly.

Very reliable service, regardless of the nature of the job(dry clean, wash ‘n press, alterations etc.).
