Specialties
The Barbereux School features a rich, comprehensive, arts-based curriculum that welcomes exploration of a child’s interests. Children ages 3 – 6 learn in a play-based environment where they can create, invent and experience the joys of learning. Music and the arts are part of the daily curriculum. Closely aligned with the Reggio Emilio philosophy, our aim is not only to instill the basics, but to foster creative, dependent thinking. Each child is seen as a unique individual, whose capabilities are recognized and nurtured.
History
Established in 1921.
Barbereux is a non-profit school dedicated to the natural development of young children. It was founded in 1921 by music teacher Mame Barbereux, who believed that music should be an essential part of every young child’s educational experience. Today Barbereux emphasizes the visual arts and cognitive areas of learning in addition to the innovative, music-centered program she established.
