I was initially exicted about a sneaker shop close to Skokie, recommended to me by a good friend, until I walked in. I was greeted with a huge cloud of weed smoke, and this was around 11am. And 11am is right around the time they open. I actually tried visiting this place other times and on different days, but come to find out they aren’t always open during their posted «open hours». Which could be annoying to people wanting to purchase stuff from them, but what do I know about running a business.
There were two males were in the store, one standing behind the counter and one sitting in a chair. Both seemed uniterested in selling shoes, or maybe it was because they were high. There was a decent selection of sneakers, especially Jordans, which I was looking for. I went into the store willing to spend between $ 200-​$ 400 on sneakers, so you would think there would be some level of customer service. Especially, when you’re the only customer in the place. I actually found out the level of customer service was 0. I’m assuming the two guys were the owners, but who knows because they never greeted me or attempted to introduce themselves, which again may have been because they were intoxicated. The prices on shoes in this small sneaker shop were high for any shoes they carry which is normal, so as a salesperson or owner I would think they would want to try and sell customers anything. Or at least ask someone if they would like to buy something.
After walking around for a few minutes, without being offered any help, I asked the male behind the counter about sizing in a pair of $ 300+ Jordans. The one sitting in the chair continued to stare into outter space or maybe he was unconscious or in a comma. The one behind the counter told me he might have my size in the back warehouse area, so he picked up his cell phone and called someone. I was assuming he was calling someone in the warehouse. During his phone call he told someone he had their size shoe and hung up. We stood staring at eachother for a minute or so, and he never mentioned the sneakers I asked him about again. I never found out if they had the shoes I wanted.
From the shopping experience and what initially greeted me at their front door, it makes me believe that they sell something than shoes there.
If you want to buy high priced or exclusive sneakers I would suggest

or anywhere else shoes are sold online, but I would NOT suggest going to this place.

has lists for sneaker shops in Chicago, and thankfully this place is not on any of those lists. You’re better off going to Platos Closet.
People who go into shops like this are looking for something specific and generally expensive, so it shouldn’t be too hard to make a sale to anyone that walks in the door, but I will suggest to the owners/​employees that Step 1 towards making a sale would be to smoke weed after work, not right before you open the store. Unless shoes is not what you’re really selling.
