Second Baptist Church

This church makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The greeters amd ushers are kind and welcoming, showing to an open seat even when it’s crowded. The choir is top notch, with full range and energy.
The best part is the preaching by Pastor Dr. Micheal C. R. Nabors. His style is all his own with powerful, thought proviking sermons. Check out the Kairos Saturday services targeted at Young Adults but definitely not exclusive.

I used to come here often as it was a wonderful place for community, love, great music, and great speeches. I have since moved on to another place of worship that aligns more with who I am, yet this is a wonderful place. My suggestion for improvement… please do not pounce on visitors and insist on filling out a card. This does not feel welcoming. Allow visitors to come and enjoy their experience of what you have to offer and during the service let people know they are welcomed to complete the information card if they would like to have additional information or be on your mailing list. Perhaps make service a little shorter by cutting down on a few of the extras. I like including the kids and dancers.

Unlike the other person who wrote a review about this church, I find it to provide a sound spiritual experience.
As for the lighting, I truly haven’t noticed. I mean, why would I care about the lighting? I am not reading a book or working on a complex math problem after all?!
I am going to church to enrich my faith and that is what the church offers. The Pastor is well educated and provides a sound spiritually grounded learning experience. I also disagree with the other reviewer in that the pastor is not at all conservative. As a matter of fact, the church is very involved in the community and actually has a mission of being a catalyst for change. The Pastor spends quite of bit of time ~ teaching. If you want to be entertained, this is not the church. If you want to grow and learn in your faith ~ then I will see you at Second Baptist!
Perhaps I am boring? Or, perhaps some people have a different expectation of their experience in church. I look for entertainment (and lighting) in the appropriate venues!

Not a good church. Boring sermons. Conservative. And the design is dim. I recommend it only to those who like boring, conservative churches with dim designs.
