Scissor’s Palace

This barber shop has three male barbers and a female esthetician. Lets start with the shop itself first. Very clean and quite has the hipsteresque look which I like for a small shop in Evanston. Though not super trendy and upscale, it has a welcoming feeling for families as well. Now lets go to the barbers, I am extremely finicky with my hair and must have it a certain way. I rarely change barbers because once I get one that I like, its usually a lifer thing. I get my hair faded and its impossible to find one that does a good job. Now these guys know exactly what they are doing when it comes to fades and cutting the top of my hair. They must of paid strict attention in school because I must say, they are the best. Now I meant the fact that I stick with one barber but they are all equally so good that when I come in, I dont have to wait because I dont mind either or. The female is really great and discrete when it comes to manscaping as well, she too must have paid really good attention in cosmetology school. If I can give more stars than 5, I would.

I hate to leaving bad reviews, but I’m pretty upset with how my hair turned out.
The positives: Clean place, friendly staff, and convenient location.
I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair to look and explained to the hair dresser that I didn’t want to color it then highlight, but instead just do highlights if possible. I showed her a picture and then she handed me the color book and told me to pick which colors I wanted? I was kind of stunned, due to the fact that some colors you pick, when put on your normal hair color won’t come out the way they look in the book. How am I suppose to know which color, or know if you are going to add a toner to it or not?
She started working on my hair, and I noticed she had to use clips to hold the foil up to the section of hair she was highlighting. I thought that was strange, as most woman before would use a rat tail comb, holding it taught to the roots then painting on the highlight. Once I sat there for 45 minutes and she went back and repainted every single area, I figured something wasn’t coming out right.
I even had to ask her to go closer to the scalp because she was an inch away from scalp when she started to paint on the color. (that would look silly, like my roots had grown out already!)
I really wanted to like this place, because it’s new, and convenient location. But it was not how I expected it to be at all. I spent a lot of money for something I’m not happy with.
Sorry, but won’t be back.

Very professional clean atmosphere. Great attention to detail, got my hair cut with George, he asked just a couple of questions and then cut exactly how I wanted. $ 20 for a standard men’s cut. Would highly recommend

One of the best barbers I’ve ever been to. Always very personable and friendly. Great conversations whether it be about sports or traveling.
The prices are very reasonable compared to the quality of service received. My facial hairs are usually hard to tame but Ash does an amazing job. Other places I usually leave bloody and marked up but at scissors place I leave clean and smooth.
The Place looks spotless all the time as well which is a huge plus compared to all the other barber shops I’ve been at.

Greatest barber shop. Its worth the drive. I’ve been going by Ashour and George since I was a kid, and still go there. Really worth it. Give them a try.

I got my hair cut here today and had a very good experience. I’ll be going back and referring friends. It’s located in a walking-​friendly area with lots of other nice shops around. A+

Like many men, I have a tough time finding a good haircut for a decent price. Several weeks ago I was walking down Central and noticed this opened. I went last week and am very happy with my haircut. I never know what kind of haircut to get, so I showed some pics on my phone. It was cut exactly how I wanted, and I was shown what product to use and how to style it. I will definitely be back. I’m glad to find a good place in a convenient location for me.

I’ve been to Scissor’s Palace twice now. I don’t remember the name of the fellow who cut my hair the first time, but it was a solid cut. Today, Ashor cut my hair. The cut is excellent. Thorough, fantastic attention to detail. And Ashor was both personable and not overbearing. Every barber I have been to in the general vicinity (along Green Bay into Wilmette) has been poor to mediocre. I am thrilled with this addition to the neighborhood.
