We are a full service violin shop specializing in sales and rental of quality violins, violas, cellos, bows, accessories, cases, and offer expert repairs and restoration on all stringed instruments. In addition to a large range of antique instruments, we have excellent examples of some of the best modern violinmakers and bowmakers as well. Chicago Strings carry a full line of strings, cases, accessories, including electric instruments, amplifiers, pickups, and many other innovative products in the field. Some of the brands we carry include BAM and Musafia cases, AER amplifiers, Headway and Realist pickups, Yamaha and Ted Brewer electric instruments, Arcus and Coda bows.
We are a musician owned establishment and we service many professionals and students all over the U.S.
History
Established in 2009.
Chicago Strings began as a home business providing quality student and professional level violins at a low price to professional musicians and their students. In 2009, the business expanded to a retail location in Evanston, servicing musicians all over Chicagoland area as well as the U.S.
Meet the Business Owner
Jeff Y.
Business Owner
Jeff is owner of Chicago Strings and a graduate of both Northwestern University and DePaul University. He is a much in demand professional musician and can be seeing performing all over Chicago and across the U.S.
Currently, Jeff is the violin soloist with the band Mannheim Steamroller and has toured as concertmaster and conductor of the group Il Divo and as first violinist for Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues. Locall he performs regularly with the Chicago Philharmonic, Palomar Ensemble, Grant Park Symphony, Chicago Opera Theater, and has appeared on numerous PBS Soundstage shows with artists such as Lyle Lovett, Faith Hill, Peter Cetera, Jewel, and Dennis DeYoung. Jeff has also served as concertmaster for the New Millennium Orchestra, Chicago Folks Operetta, National Repertory Orchestra, Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Italy, and the Emerald City Philharmonic in Seattle
