I am the newest State Farm Agent in Eureka CA. My vision is to make every policy holder something more than a number; to make them family! We care about Humboldt County families!

My local media background in Humboldt County for the last 35 years has led me to a new and 2nd career with State Farm Insurance in 2014. Knowing the local area, culture, and the people made me the perfect fit to assemble a team to help families of Humboldt County.

I really enjoy building relationships that help others – so insurance was the ideal career fit. My team takes great strides in helping, protecting, and serving the needs of our customers both internal and external.

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t found a way to over $ 4000 a year, ever?! Not only are we saving money, but our coverage is FAR GREATER than it was before. Shopping for insurance can be a real hassle, especially if you own a business too. When we began working with Scott Hammond State Farm it was a huge relief. We didn’t have to do much but provide the information neccesary. The agent came to our home, our business, and was always available whenever we called with questions. It seriously could not have been easier!
We decided to go with State Farm because we have done business with Scott Hammond in the past when he worked for another company. He is exactly the kind of person we prefer to do business with. He is a positive person to be around. His word is important to him; his yes means yes, and his no means no. We have negotiated several contracts with Scott in the past, and he always made sure everything went as planned.

Where to being … I have had State Farm Insurance for over 10 years … I started out with my original agent who set my standards very High with how I should be treated and how my agent acts … well he decided to retire we went through 2 other agents who didn’t work out… well when it was time for me to renew and change my policy around so instead of fallowing up with me or helping me out she just assumed I would stay with her as my agent, she was about as helpful as a pot hole to a blind person … I met Scott through work and told him about my state farm experience and how I was slacking about renewing my policy and getting one set right for me. THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SCOTT he brought me back to the experience that I once had with my old agent, he would call and check in and see how everything was and if everything was going OK. basically I could actually believe again that if I did the like a good neighbor state farm is there… I know Scott would show up and I would not be left in the dust waiting or hanging in limbo. every where I see Scott its a hey how are you and a great laugh. If you are looking for a state farm agent then go to Scott

I canceled coverage on a car with this agency and was told to keep paying the bills until it was caught up in their system. I was assured we would get a credit eventually. Guess what? The car was never canceled. I changed agents to try to get this resolved — and they finally canceled it for real — but I never got a credit for the five + months of billings. I have a voice mail from my contact in the agent’s office stating that the car had been removed from our policy — and that we should continue paying it until we received a credit.
Now, I’m told that since the voice mail message, which confirms that we canceled the car, wasn’t from Scott, the agent, just someone who works for him, State Farm won’t consider it valid. Even though, in the meantime, the car was insured by another company — and SOLD — and all the while State Farm continued to bill us for coverage after we canceled it.
We’ve been customers of State Farm for over twenty years — and I am sad to say that most of the local agents in Eureka have gone waaaayyyy downhill. We’ve stayed with them these last few months — just in hopes of getting the refund that we’re owed. It really feels like we’ve been getting fleeced. Baaaaaaaaaaahhhh… We are so done with State Farm. I just signed up for auto insurance with AAA — and for the more extensive coverage — I’m paying $ 100 less each month. And we had a 20 year «loyalty discount» with State Farm. Go figure…
NOTE: All but one of the the positive reviewers for this agent have fewer than 6 total reviews. Maybe it’s just me, but I always find that suspicious.

As a longtime adherent of the «whatever is cheapest» approach of purchasing insurance, I doubted I would really be able to save any money when I contacted Scott and his team. I was referred by a friend and decided to give State Farm a shot after having several less-​than-​stellar claim experiences involving car and renter policies from my previous provider, and as part of my own goal to try to keep more of my transactions «local,» I had Scott write me up a quote.
Much to my surprise, they were able to increase my level of coverage and actually save me a bit of money per month. Color me surprised!
What stood out to me above all, however, is the level of service I received both during and after my shopping experience. For instance, it was great to be able to make a quick phone call to check on my rental car coverage while traveling and get the answer in less than a minute. Scott and his team aren’t just friendly — they actually work hard and provide the kind of service that highlights the crucial difference between a local agent and a faceless website.

This is my first ever review, but I find it easy to write this, as Mr. Hammond is a man of integrity. To me, it is vitally important to deal with people who have honor and a character ethic that is truth based. Mr. Hammond certainly fits this bill. He handles all of my insurance needs from auto, home, business to liability. He is well versed in his product lines, my needs, and how the two can be integrated. He and his staff are professional, prompt and caring. He is a great addition to the community. Highly recommend.
