History

Established in 1883.

Built as a Coachhouse in 1883, Sunnyside has an exciting history. The stages in the Inn include an elegant VIP hotel at the turn of the 20th century, accommodating notables, i.e. William Wrigley, the gum magnet. During the depression it served as a boarding house for up to 30 people. Added to the National Historic Register in 1966, it was brought back to it’s original glory. In the early 1980’s, a complete restoration utilized the original white oak wood through the interior, the Italian marble and jade fireplace, added stained glass kitchen cabinets. More recent guests include President Bill Clinton, Senator HIllary Clinton and daughter, Chelsey in 1992.

Meet the Business Owner

Draxie R.

Business Owner

When current owner, Draxie R., first stepped into Sunnyside Inn in 1998, she knew this was the place she was supposed to llive. She has operated the B&B since 2001, and the majority of her visitors are return visitors. That speaks for itself. The evening desserts and full morning breakfasts make it easy to even skip lunch. Early morning coffee and late afternoon tea on the deck finishes off a great stay.
