History

Established in 1988.

In the early 1950’s, Albert Raney, along with his 3 sons, started Marble Falls Trout Farm on Scenic Highway 7 in Newton County, Arkansas. Albert was a pioneer in Ozark tourism operating Mystic Caverns & Rock Shop, Marble Falls, it’s picnic area & Gift Shop and the Trout Farm at Bluff Spring. He also operated the general store as well as being the postmaster. In his spare time he searched for new caves.

In the early 70’s, Albert sold the Trout Farm and surrounding lands to Al Capps, Dogpatch USA, an ill-fated hillbilly themed amusement park that closed in the 1990’s. Albert’s next venture included son, Gene, along with his son-in-law, Louis DeVito (Jim), who had married Albert’s eldest daughter, Mary Alice. Together, they started Bear Creek Springs Trout Farm in Harrison, Arkansas.

In 1987, Mary Alice and Louis’s 4 sons opened the first DeVito’s Restaurant at Bear Creek Springs. In 1988, the eldest son, James, along with his wife Susan, started DeVito’s of Eureka.
