University Inn & Suites Eugene

If you’re looking for a place to stay right next to UO, this will do. It’s definitely in need of an upgrade with obvious signs of wear but was fine for a night. Staff was nice and helpful with the tight parking situation.

What kind of university hotel doesn’t have ESPN? It’s on their channel list but it’s replaced with nbc sports. The asst mgr was nice and let us check in early so that was nice. The room was pretty clean but the bathtub backs up so you shower in ankle deep water with other people’s hair floating around. There is a waffle maker for breakfast. For the price, and location I’d stay here again if I’m ever back in Eugene.

We stayed here because the price was right. For what it is, the place is fine. We had a clean room with a comfortable bed. The water pressure in the shower was quite low and parking was crowded, but for an inexpensive rest stop on a long road trip, this place was just fine.

First room they put me in was tiny and weird (e.g. had to stand on the bed to adjust the AC unit and TV was not visible from bed). I found that the bathroom had ants in it which made for an interesting experience sitting on the toilet with ants crawling up my leg. After I complained they moved me to a better room which while still no frills was more reasonably laid out and ant-​free. Shower was weak, but passable. Internet was slow at times and cut out a bit. Breakfast was a bit week – but fine and as expected for the price. Motel set-​up so no privacy if you open the blinds. Still, giving three stars since my expectations were low based on the price.

I was very happy with this inn. I had an issue with my room and when I told the management they not only have me a new room but upgraded us to a bigger room. The continental breakfast was very convenient and it was in a great location especially if you’re planning to visit the campus. The prices for the rooms are low and they are decent rooms. Definitely getting what you pay for but its worth it for a quick trip to eugene oregen. I would not hesitate to stay here again :)

We will not be back! The major issue is a serious lack of cleanliness. It is supposed to be a non-​smoking room but it totally smells like smoke. When we arrived I removed the top bed cover because we do not use them & the blanket underneath had a big black circle stain. My husband went to sit down on the bed & it was so worn he wasn’t sure he could get back out. The carpets are dark which I’m sure hides a myriad of issues & I refused to put my feet on the floor without shoes on. The minute we got to the room we started making phone calls to see if there were any other hotel options but every place we called was full that weekend or we would have left.
When I went to take a shower in the morning I had to take t.p. & wipe hair out of the shower that was not ours (ew!) which probably had not gone down the drain because the stopper was broken & the shower did not drain well. There was also a little piece of t.p. stuck to the wall by the toilet. When my husband took a shower the following day the shower handle came off & he had to fix it. We never did figure out what was going on with the handle on the bathroom sink — it would go completely around & it was like a roulette wheel to determine what temp water would come out.
The television had lines that went up during all programs. I called before we arrived & they mentioned something about pay movies but that was not an option. It didn’t end up being an issue because we would not have hung out there long enough to watch a movie. The wifi is not sufficient as well — extremely slow and the parking is a challenge at best.
That being said — the staff were very professional and pleasant — I have no issue with the front desk people but they are not enough to get us to return. This hotel either needs some serious updating & new maids or tear it down & start again.

This place is far underrated. I’ve been on a long road trip, and stayed at a lot of cheap hotels, and the U Inn and Suites is far better than many more expensive places so far on the trip.
Biggest pros: Super friendly staff and great location. It’s less than a stone’s throw from campus, and the night staff and morning staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
The kid on the night shift made an error with the reservation, but was quick to correct it, and in doing so, gave us a free upgrade. They also give great recommendations if you need help getting around or finding attractions in the area.
The room itself was nothing to write home about. The worst part was the water pressure, but the room was reasonably clean and maintained for being one of the cheapest places in the area. But seriously, I’ve paid the same price for a room that required malaria shots, riot gear, and a respirator (basically any budget hotel in CA or FL), so I don’t really think the 1-​star reviews are justified.

It’s not a luxury establishment by any means, but they don’t claim to be. It was clean. It was comfortable. And the service was exceptionally friendly.
…And there’s a fun waffle maker in the front office.

We had a nice night there overall. I would stay there again. The room was comfortable, clean and the bed was good. The walls are a little thin, so if there is a party you will hear it. We stayed the night of July 31^st to attend a Rod Stewart and Santana concert, so of course I expected there should be some partying going on. It’s location right across the street from the Matthew Knight Arena was very convenient. The continental breakfast was good. The pool very small but great for a refreshing dip. I would stay again.

Terrible Experience:
Room– bathroom door got stuck; it dragged on the floor and it could not be opened/​closed. The entire time we could not close the bathroom door. Room smells like smoke even though it is a «non-​smoking» room.
WiFi– no connection at all. Their wifi cannot handle the number of guests. It is not usable at all.

AVOID THIS MOTEL!

My boyfriend and I stayed with this motel for 3 nights. We were in town for my boyfriend’s orientation at the University of Oregon. It was close to the school, and that’s pretty much the ONLY good thing I can say about this place.
We thought everything was peachy once we checked out. But to our surprise, University Inn charged our credit card $ 200 (on top of the room fees) for breaking a «Pet Policy». WE NEVER BROUGHT ANY KIND OF ANIMAL ONTO THE PREMISES. My boyfriend called the manager to dispute this ridiculous claim and was informed by Samantha (the manager), that they found «evidence» of a pet in our room. My boyfriend asked what kind of evidence they found and they refused to tell us. They wouldn’t give any information as to what they found or who said anything. Samantha proceeded to tell us that she had the maid’s report that she saw pet «fur» as well.
I’m in utter shock that an establishment could be so unethical and fraudulent towards it’s guests. We contacted our credit card company and plan on fighting this ridiculous charge, as well as reporting them to the BBB of Oregon. And if needed, lawyers will be involved. A business shouldn’t be allowed to operate under these kinds of unethical operations.
I’ve stayed in hotels and motels in more than 13 states, this is by far the worst treatment/​billing process I have ever experienced. If I could give zero stars, I would. There are multiple reviews from others saying the exact same thing as I have. On Unilocal,trip advisor and others.
If you’re staying in Eugene, look elsewhere! There is a Best Western down the street, stay there. Take your hard earned money somewhere else!

I stayed at the University Inn for a few days this past weekend. I stayed there because my mom had been there twice before and had had a pleasant experience.
I arrived home on 4÷28÷2014 after a 3 night stay to visit with my kids who both go to the University of Oregon. I did not find the message they’d left on Monday afternoon until the next day. Worried, I called right away thinking that maybe I had left something behind. Samantha got right to the point telling me that she had just charged my debit card an extra $ 200.00 for violating their NO PET policy. WHAT? I didn’t bring a pet. Oh, but we found long brown fur/​dander in your room, And, I have pictures to prove it. I did not bring an animal into my room at any time during my stay. She wouldn’t listen to me and actually talked over me. She told me to contact my bank and check on the status of the charge. She said once the bank had all of the information/​evidence, they would decide who was right and perhaps process the charge to them. I hung up with her as she was not giving me a chance to talk. There must be some mistake! I called back a while later to say that the only thing I could think of was that I had cleaned my round hair brush while I was there. But I promise you it was not a very large amount, AND I put it in the trash can under the sink. Isn’t there something, somewhere that says innocent until… If Samantha had bothered to put more energy into really examining the «fur» she would have seen that this was human hair, not dander. I did not strew my hair around the room like she so vehemently accused me of. She said that she had given my name and number to her manager and that maybe he would call me. Needless to say, I won’t go back there, and would suggest you read the reviews here before you make a reservation.

Horrible. Our $ 150 room was filthy, dilapidated, and threadbare. Stained towels, ratty carpet, and furniture that should have been replaced decades ago. At these prices, this place should be rolling in cash, but it’s apparently too much to ask for furnishings that don’t make you regret having to touch them. Or maid service. We put out the please make up the room tag on the door at 1pm and when we came back at 7pm our room was untouched. Which in retrospect was maybe for the best. We will not be returning.

Nice little motel for the price. In town for a track meet and wanted something walking distance to Hayward field and didn’t want to spend a ton of money since we will not be spending much time in the room. Staff is very nice and friendly. A older hotel but our room was nice and very clean (could smell the bleach when you walked in clean). For a reasonably priced place to crash this seems great. Walking distance to lots of food, U of O, running trails, etc. would stay here again.
Breakfast was minimal, I.e. only protein boiled eggs and cream cheese, but pretty standard for a free continental breakfast. Parking is tight, glad I didn’t bring my truck. Overall a good value for the price. And again the staff were very nice and pushed this older it nice property up to 4 stars.

Actually, this place wasn’t too bad. Nothing fancy. Given that, it was only a place to stop over because I got in late and left early and didn’t really venture out. Well-​lit parking lot. It is right across the street from the University of Oregon, specifically the new basketball arena. I heard that it’s amazing inside, but I digress. And it is on a busy highway alongside many other small motels.
The lady at the counter was nice enough. I got in my room; a cute little place. Micro, fridge, couch bed. Decent shower Big negative: it was warm inside the room so I turned on the air conditioner. WAY too loud to sleep, but too warm to not have air. Even the earplugs didn’t seem to help. So after a lousy night of sleep (?), I was outta there. Also, the toilet made noise all night. GRRRRRR!!!
Nothing special here. Only cheap.

Stayed a this motel several times when staying in Eugene. It has met all my expectations. Always been accommodating and friendly. Nothing fancy, but if you are in Eugene it’s reasonably priced for what you get.
Oh, one funny thing that happened. I was attempting to shower and in shower terminology I thought H meant HOT. Well, it never got hot — I figured after a hard night of partying I deserved a cold shower, so I did that instead.
I was complaining to my friend who showered first and she said. Oh, I forgot to mention the C was the hot water, they’re reversed ! Ugh! Had a good laugh, but wasn’t happy.
I almost tried C to see if it was flipped around, but didn’t do it.
I thought their lobby coffee was good.
Clean room. Safe.

This was our second time staying at University Inn (the first time was a few years ago), and, as before, we were very pleased with it. The people who run the motel are very polite and friendly. The room was clean and well-​appointed. Internet worked well. Nice pool. We didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, as Voodoo Doughnuts was calling from just a short distance away.
The motel is very convenient to the university and to downtown Eugene. It’s normally really easy to find from I-​5 as well, but 2012 visitors should be aware that the exit from 5 is currently closed… best to call the motel and ask for an alternate route. As it happened, our GPS kept trying to route us back to the closed exit, so we finally just left the freeway and drove for several blocks until the GPS gave up and gave us a different route!
BTW, from past experience, I can also highly recommend Track Town Pizza next door!

I tried to help my mom move her reservation to another day so I called at around 11pm and a lady answered. She was speaking so fast that I didn’t get her name.
Lady: Mumbo jumbo University Inn mumbo jumbo.
Me: I’m sorry, may I have your name again?
Lady: Uh. why are you asking for my name?
Me: So I can address you properly, but that’s fine.
She acted like I was going to steal her identity or something! It turns out that my mom wasn’t able to cancel her reservation, so she’s just going to check into this shitty motel, sleep somewhere else, and check out the next day to avoid paying the ridiculous cancellation fee despite our request to move the reservation to another day. Just horrible! GO TO HILTON, they’re awesome. :)

Not expensive. I think we paid $ 102 for two doubles in a room.
Not overly fancy, but a decent clean room.
If you want a decent room with good beds that is across from campus, this is your spot. I’ve stayed at more than half of the hotels on Franklin, and this is a very good place for the price.

No other stars because it smelled… it’s a non-​smoking motel, but you can clearly tell it used to be smoking. You cannot get rid of that smell… too bad it never got covered up properly.
The carpet was quite dirty. It looked like they haden’t vacuumed.
The bathroom had ants!
The front desk staff was nice and super friendly. I just wish they would do some updating!
