I have never donated blood or plasma before. Still haven’t… Even after my visit here.
My boyfriend and I spent a total of six hours here today, pretty much all day long. Getting there at 1:00 and not being taken back until 2:15. I let the staff know that this was my first time doing something like this, and that I really am not a big fan of needles. I felt as if I got the «don’t be a baby» attitude. Unfortunately this process was SO long and horrible, I contemplated not doing it anymore because I got so sick of waiting, but then thought I might as well get this over with because I’ve been here for 4 hours. My boyfriend also had a ssc that hadn’t been tampered with since getting for the very first time and told them that he didn’t want to sign the ssc because it was important to keep it nice, they refused to accept it with out him signing on it, then was told minutes later by another staff member that it was not that big of a deal. So confusing, did he just ruin that for nothing? Then after all of these tests and then a physical and hours of waiting. We get to the back room to actually give the donation. I found my boyfriend in the back of the room and when we asked if we could sit near each other because I was feeling nervous we got crazy attitudes from not only one but two staff members about the fact that we weren’t in our seats and our question went unanswered. So we ended up going up to the counter person and telling them we aren’t doing the donation if we aren’t allowed to sit near each other (mind you there are plenty of seats either across or next to each other open). She says okay, then when finally getting the donation done the man that was putting the needle strapped the blood pressure wrap on my arm so tightly. Then chose the least noticeable vein out of the ones to pick from and pushed the needle not into my vein, but in between my skin and vein, fishing around for the vein. Then says it didn’t go through, hang on and walked away. During that time my arm turned purple from lack of circulation and went numb. Then made him take the needle out and didn’t continue with the donation because after all of this. There was no way I was going to continue on. They still paid me for the donation, and gave an ice pack but this has been the worst experience ever, I probably won’t give blood or plasma anytime soon because of this.

Been coming here for about 5 months. The last 3 times, my chart has been misplaced causing over an hour delay in each instance. The process takes 2 – 3 hours so an extra hour is not acceptable. My advice: be prepared to spend the better part of your day here.

After donating about 6 times I realized this place is a joke. .I work full time, live 2 hours away. .and after waiting 4 hours I am almost close to getting done. The employees are complaining about their shifts while I have been here for nearly half of it. .they stop working to gab about dates, TV shows and idle gossip. .yes, there are all kinds of personalities here to donate. .however my income is 10 times theirs. .I donate in respect to several individuals that I know that have needed plasma services. .to get treated like a chore is an insult. …

Talecris gives me money to do absolutely nothing other than sit with an awkward large IV in my arm. Yeah, you have to wait and people get pretty cranky about that. But again, they’re seriously paying you to show up and do nothing. The people who work there are nice and they’re total IV-​starting rockstars.
The cons, I guess – they’re minor annoyances more than anything. The prepaid debit card payment system is kind of obnoxious but I just transfer the funds online into my regular bank account. And the donor floor is so freaking cold, but that’s easily remedied with a blanket. But seriously. It’s easy money. Can’t complain.

Top 10 Most Stressful Jobs!!! Tack this one on the list. This donation station is VERY BUSY! They’re a place that deals in bodily fluids so,…Yes, the rules and standards are going to be high. You will have to be able to follow simple instructions. You will have to follow the rules. Yes, it it going to take time. Yes, you will have to be patient. :D
For me,. . It’s VERY dope to be able to have the opportunity to bring in an extra $ 240 a month as a stay at home Mom.
I haven’t been donating long but, it TRULY is the staff that makes the donation: D They do their very best to make it a «pleasurable» experience. They try to make it painless, unless you suck ;) Remember to bring a light blanket or jacket & a book. They do have movies playing for your entertainment.
Occasional issues with payment but, if you give them a call it gets resolved quite quickly.

After reading the other bad reviews on Unilocal and finding out that there were zero complaints filed with the BBB in the past 3 years for this place, I took a gamble and decided to pay them a visit this morning. I went there on a Wed AM at about 8:45. The parking lot was about ¹⁄₃ full and there was almost no waiting in line for the initial screening. I was asked to provide my driver’s license, social security card and a recent piece of mail with a recent postmark on it to prove where I lived. Then I was given a book that describes all of the bad things that might happen to you if you decide to donate plasma and something goes wrong. Before I could even finish reading the book, they harped on me to finish filling out the disclosure form where I revealed that I was taking medication for a mental illness. Apparently they take patient confidentiality very seriously because they ushered me into first one private room and then another private room to discuss my mental condition. They ultimately decided that I was not qualified to donate because their black book had my mental condition listed as one of the reasons for a denial. I wasted all of 15 – 20 minutes finding out that they would not accept my donation. Not bad at all, especially considering the other negative reviews on Unilocal.If I were a person in perfect health and needed an extra $ 240 per month I would go there again. Then again, they might not get too many people in that category as the people at the top of the socio-​economic-​health pyramid mostly don’t need an extra $ 240 per month. The place was very clean as far as I could see. I saw the interior of one treatment room where they apparently draw blood as well as the Dr’s «office», everywhere I looked was spotless, not like the reviews I’ve seen for a similar facility back East on Ripoff Report.

Place is horrible it gets worse every time. They adopted a card system for paying donors and if your lucky enough to get paid you’ll probably get the wrong amount. The staff are the most incompetent people you will ever meet. It’s a real hassle and they are going downhill I say find another way to get a few bucks before they screw up your veins digging w the needle to find Em or poking right through as I’ve seen many times

I’m intolerant of incompetence and they take the cake! It seems they’ll let anyone stab you in the arm and that’s just what they’ll do w/​o a single apology or admission of wrong doing, as you bleed all over the place but I understand, with the economy the way it is. Only desperate people should try this!

DO NOT… I repeat, do not donate here. They really suck. The management is smothering the place out. Looooooong waits, for no reason. God forbid that you cannot prove where you live. First, the address was wrong, then the zip code, then someone sent me mail to Eugene, and not the city name I live in (coburg) now they are fucking telling me that because the piece of mail I have doesn’t have a date on it… This is the fourth time. It’s always something. The excuses are old. Save yourself a HUGE headache. Don’t go here!

They are getting better! I’ve been going fairly regularly for the last 3+ years. Because of that, I was able to buy plane tickets to Hawaii and to Mexico for my husband and myself, and more money beyond that ($ 200+ a month). It averages 2 – 3 hours each donation right now. They are sticklers for hygiene, replacing gloves constantly, but I know they are being medically safe for everybody, and that is a good thing. Take a book, a blanket, and earn some money… I think it’s worth it.

OH MY GOD, this is seriously the most inefficiently run place ever. Most of the time, the workers are just dicking around, and not doing anything when they could be checking people in. Half the time, they’re just trying to make it look like they’re doing something useful (when they’re not). If these people ran a restaurant, it’d go out of business in a week.
This place used to be better. Still slow, but tolerable… It would usually take half an hour to get your fingers scanned, another half hour to finish being screened, and then 5 – 10 minutes to get sticked… Then with it taking about an hour to finish «donating», it would usually take between 2 – 3 hours to be done depending on how busy they were.
Today, I waited ALMOST 2 HOURS, and I hadn’t even get my fingers scanned
