History

Established in 1955.

Owned and operated by the Lund Family who purchased this location in 2015. The Lund’s have over 50 years of continuous service to the community. They also own and operate Smith-​Lund-​Mills Funeral Chapel & Crematorium and Fir Grove Cemetery both of Cottage Grove.

I have to admit to never physically visiting the facility, but the staff went way overboard being helpful to me in locating the grave of a co-​worker who moved out to Oregon a few years ago. I had been trying to locate him, and finally only stumbled on a very brief obituary in the local paper. I was unable to contact any of his family members, but the staff at Sunset Hills was extremely helpful in obtaining information for me so I could have my friend included in a memorial site at work for deceased employees.

We were treated with compassion & dignity. Guinevere carefully walked us through the options with kindness & promptly returned all phone calls. Thanks to her, my dad’s celebration included a visit from the Marine Honor Guard. This process is never easy but we appreciate Sunset making us feel like family.

Wish there was a zero star option. Run by the most insensitive staff I have ever come by in my life. Won’t let you grieve over a lost loved one without one of their pesky staff in the room. SUCH a terrible experience during a time that should have been dealt with very delicately. Will NEVER be going here again and would never recommend this funeral home to anyone who cares about their family and privacy.
