Maybe people have issues with previous employees, but I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences with everybody working at SPM. They’re very professional, friendly, and prompt. Between getting the property to maintenance work, they’ve exceeded every expectation I had. Would highly recommend rending from them

Stewardship Properties doesn’t deserve a single star.
I rented a house from Stewardship with 4 of my friends– we stayed at the same residence for 2 years. When we moved into the house it was in AWFUL condition– dirty, damaged, and otherwise not in proper shape to be rented, but Stewardship refused to do anything about it.
Throughout the two years, we presented maintenance issues that were responded to in a SLOWER THAN MOLASSES manner. The biggest issue we faced was the presence of rats that decided to make our home their home due to a massive hole leading from the backyard into our kitchen. Stewardship treated this issue with absolutely no regard for our living space and zero urgency. It took over a week for the situation to be handled properly, during which we were forced to sleep at friends’ houses because the rats had invaded our bedrooms.
Lastly, Stewardship property took 80% of our deposit, refunding us a whopping $ 370 bucks between the 5 tenants. Supposed charges for «Pet Treatment» (we had no pets), «repairing the kitchen counter» (which wasn’t broken), and «carpet cleaning» (in an almost entirely wood floor house), were completely fabricated. «Cleaning and painting» hours were grossly exaggerated, ESPECIALLY considering that a week prior we hired a house cleaner to deep clean the two bathrooms and kitchens, which took only 3 hours.
Every other landlord I’ve rented from past and present has assumed that some cleaning and preparation for the next tenant is normal and financially assumed by the landlord, but not Stewardship. The cherry on top of this all is the HORRENDOUS customer service the staff offered during our 2-​year lease. The staff could not possibly be more unfriendly, unpleasant, or unavailable.
Overall, a great learning experience– read the reviews, take pictures of the property when you move in, and never EVER rent from Stewardship Properties.

I called Stewardship responding to an ad on Craigslist that had «Pet Friendly» in the title, so I was hoping to speak with someone about finding a property that can accommodate me, my husband, and our three small pets. Like most of these local management companies, the person on the phone made me feel terrible just for owning animals and needless to say wasn’t interested in helping us at all. If you have pets, I could tell just based on her attitude that you don’t want to get in bed with this company. They’re not exactly pet friendly.

Absolutely awful customer service from Stewardship properties. Started my move into my current residence to find 6 months of mail backed up in my mailbox from a previous tenant. This tenant was a family of Asiatic origin with an entire family living in a small quad apartment. I found my apartment to be unclean upon arrival, with an abundance of old kitchen items and food left in the apartment. I continued to receive mail from an older tenant through my leasing period.
During my one-​year lease period, I was forced to move 4.5 months in to another unit in the same complex. Forced to break my yearlong lease and sign another one, and needed to heavily negotiate to get a meager $ 75 off rent payments for the next month due to inconveniences.
I’ve also been very unsatisfied with property maintenance procedures. I had to wait for several weeks to get minor issues resolved, and was forced to stay in my apartment for 2 hours whilst doors were painted. A notice on my door assured tenants that a Stewardship Rentals representative would be on duty during the period, which was not the case. Another unnamed tenant called Stewardship and was told dismissively «Yeah, they work for us.» Information falsified and simply swept under the table.
Only positives to note about my personal correspondence with Stewardship properties outside of proximity of my current residence to necessary buildings was the landlord. Always positive correspondence with her — definitely a true asset to my property.

«Stewardship» is such a misnomer. Please, please do not rent from them. Yes, they have attractive properties, but my whole experience with them has been a nightmare. I had a much better experience with Von Klein, which is saying something.
1. They completely ignored all maintenance requests. I never got a response even when calling or emailing the emergency line. There were electrical problems with my unit, eventually my dad drove 2 hours to help me. There were several things broken upon move in as well as evident water damage. The back door had no deadbolt, they never responded to my requests for one even as thefts were occurring on the property (I was also dealing with a scary breakup, and *needed* secure locks).
2. The employees are horrible. At the time I rented for them, it was all a bunch of young airheads who let their purse dogs run around the office. I was charged a late fee once for turning my rent in on the 4^th in person when the grace period was until the 5^th and the girl was completely rude, I paid it just because I didn’t want to deal with it and assumed I was wrong– until I checked up on it.
3. After moving out, they kept the full $ 500 security deposit. They claimed I did not return keys and they had to change locks– I had returned keys, by dropping them in the after hours slot. I don’t understand how it could possibly not have been recieved. They also cited me for things like broken refrigerator shelf, which was so on move in and I had tried reporting. I thought that was the end of it. 3 years later, in a different city now, my rental application is denied due to Stewardship claiming an unpaid debt. This was the 1^st I heard of anything and I was shocked. No phone calls, nothing in the mail, nothing. Never came up on other rental background checks. They didn’t tell me this when i checked on the security deposit. They claimed I owed them an additional $ 500 in damages. I can not fathom what could possibly have cost $ 1000 in damages. I only lived there for 7 months, I left the place in one piece… admittedly I didn’t clean super thourough at move out and a cat had peed on the carpet, but it wasn’t like in squalor and nothing was broken except the refrigerator shelf. But 1000? They could not tell me what the fees were for nor if there was any attempt at contacting me because only one person could and they were not available. They also would only accept a check, further inconvenience as I don’t live there any more and was trying to get this to go away so I have a place to live presently. I gave them the money, money I don’t really have.
Worst landlord experience ever.

I rented from Stewardship for 1 year. From the moment I stepped into their office I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I was a student renting for the first time. Fortunately, I have amazing parents that walked me through all the issues with Stewardship. Leading up to the signing of the lease there was continuous lack of understanding about our requested length of the lease. Then when the time came to move it, the carpet throughout the house had stains and burn marks. Though they claimed that they had the carpet professionally cleaned, the first time we vacuumed (before we moved anything into the house on day 1 of the lease) dirt compartment of the vacuum was completely full. The kitchen sink was damaged and rusty. Vinyl flooring in the kitchen and laundry room also had burn marks and was pealing off from the floor. There were constant issues with lack of response for maintenance requests. As a student renting for the first time, all of these issues were new for my roommates and I, and Stewardship made no effort in guiding us or in making these issues easier to deal with. Along with maintenance issues, their office always seemed to be disorganized. Throughout the 15 months of renting from Stewardship, there were numerous occasions when they claimed that we owed them money. In all situations, they were wrong as I always had rent paid either on time or made sure to notify them personally if a roommate was going to be late with his rent. I made a full effort to make things easier for them. Unfortunately they did not do the same for me. I no longer rend from Stewardship after they attempted to increase our rent by 5% after our lease of 15 months was coming to an end.
I have been involved in professional work environments where customer service is the utmost important regardless of who the customer is. Stewardship provided unsatisfactory service even for college student standards. They were nothing but difficult to work with.
I now rent from Mallard properties and could not be happier. The entire lease signing process was incredibly simple. They are great at completing maintenance issues within 24 – 48 hours of our request. I do not get the feeling of being taken advantage of and I feel very comfortable with their services.

I rented two different apartments from Stewardship from 2008 – 2011. We did have a couple of issues here and there, but Stewardship was always pretty fast to respond to any maintenance requests– either the same day, or the following day.
Our sophomore year, our apartment was OK (some mold problems).
The 4 bedroom apartment that we had senior year was a steal– $ 325 a month water, sewage, garbage and heat included. Also included was a dishwasher, washer and dryer and a table. Now that I’m back living in Seattle, it’s hard to believe that I actually paid $ 325 for as «nice» of a place that we lived.
I don’t believe we ever got our $ 150 deposit back that we each paid, but this deposit covered all three years that we lived in their apartments. So, I don’t really have any hard feelings about that. Fortunately, we didn’t have to put down a new deposit each year.
I’ve heard plenty of horror stories from other property management companies in Eugene, and I’m happy to say that overall, Stewardship was great to deal with.
