Ben Sutter, DMD

I saw Dr Sutter for the first time in January for my oh so annoying TMJ issues. I had already done neuromuscular which helped but not enough. I saw some you tube videos on his DTR treatment. Dr Sutter spoke with me on the phone before even making an appointment… and on the weekend. No doctor ever does that! I live in WA so it was a 5 hour drive. After 3 appointments my TMJ reduced quit a bit. He is so patient and just the sweetest man. I would highly recommend anyone with tmj to try this out. And to use him as a regular dentist. I adore him and his whole practice.

Office is very neat and clean. Everyone there seemed so nice and understanding. I recently just moved to Eugene and needed to see a dentist asap because one of my fillings came off and needed a crown. My first visit was amazing, Dr. Sutter made sure that the crown fitted perfectly on me and made me feel comfortable.
Second time around I had to come in for another crown, this time it was a different person working on my teeth. As she was putting a crown on my tooth, i had saliva coming out of my mouth due to leaving my mouth open for a period of time. I thought she would grab the suction tube and suck my saliva out but she straight up told me to swallow my own spit… wow, never in my 23 years a dentist ever told me that. After that, I never came back. I left with a bruise on my upper left gum (the area she was working on) due to her flossing the heck out of my gums. I paid A LOT for a crown, when I could’ve gone somewhere else that was half the price!

Dr. Sutter has been an absolute pleasure to work with. His staff is most helpful and great to deal with. I highly recommend Dr. Sutter.

I came to Dr. Sutter’s office needing extensive dental work. Dr. Sutter and his staff took a long time explaining my options to me and making sure that I understood all of the procedures. They worked in conjunction with other providers to make sure that the level of care I would receive was the same throughout all facets of the treatment plan. Today was supposed to be my cleaning day with Darci at Dr. Ben Sutter’s practice. I have been a patient there for probably 20 years. For most of that time Dr. Daniel Vodvarka headed the practice, but recently has been weaning away, and sold to Dr. Ben Sutter. I re-​iterated to them that I wished to decline their required x-​rays. They declined to allow my cleaning and sent me a letter «firing» me as a patient which I received today.
Six months ago, I gave them a letter from my physician explaining why I DO NOT WANT X-​RAYS. I have poly nodal thyroid growth which, in my opinion, is attributable to DENTAL X-​RAYS. Dr. Sutter’s practice uses a panorex (panoramic radiograph) which takes x-​rays in a circle around your head (and through your brain).
Their pano machine is from the early 1980’s. and that’s what they use! This is 2014, panos have been re-​invented
five times since the early 80’s. Our differences come down to this: I am ultimately responsible for my health decisions. This dental practice includes x-​rays (both bitewing and pano) in their preventive care program. The x-​ray schedule MUST BE MAINTAINED ($$) or the patient WILL BE TERMINATED. I was terminated.
I believe x-​rays should be driven by medical necessity only. A panorex machine from 1981 in current use
suggests their true motivation. They are fascist in dealing with (bullying) their patients. Now to the dirty
little secret. Do a search regarding dental x-​rays of both types and 1) brain tumors, 2) neck and throat
cancers, 3) thyroid growths. You’ll be shocked! Thanks and good health.
