History

Established in 2015.

Started by Luke Spencer and Tanley Dickson in summer 2015 the two set out to create a community oriented business driven by years of experience in the paddlesports industry. Growing up with the Wild & Scenic Clackamas River in their backyard the two saw the potential to offer a first of its kind service in the underground outdoor hub surrounding the City of Estacada and opened Clackamas River Outfitters.

A long time outdoorsmen Luke’s first outdoor passions started off the water as a competitive BMX biker and skier. After finishing high school his adventure’s in the outdoors shifted and water sports became the sole focus of his energy. After Starting rafting and inflatable kayaking he landed a job at the a icon Portland outdoor store, Andy & Bax selling rafts and inflatable kayaks. After realizing he wanted to hardshell kayak he took a job at Next Adventure, another one of Portland’s iconic outdoor stores who specialized in whitewater kayaking. Making this his home for the next 9 years Luke took on the roll of manager at the growing whitewater business. After gaining many years of experience at Next Adventure he ventured on his own working as a sales rep and paddling as a sponsored whitewater paddler for Fluid Kayaks. In the summer of 2015 the opportunity to open Clackamas River Outfitters arouse and CRO was born!
