Has specialty products not readily available at many big box pet stores. Also definitely an experience looking at their aquatic tanks.
I often find that they stock cheap juvenile mice, unlike Petco, which may not even have them at all.
What I find great is that new pet owners are sometimes challenged to meet a certain level of quality care before this store will sell anything living to them. It makes sure that the animals stay alive in the long run.

Owner was very friendly & intelligent. Purchased a snake kit from somewhere else and later discovered I did not even need half the stuff in the kit. Lol…
Will definitely visit again.

I came to this place for the first time today because I want to buy a snake and just wanted to get some input. The staff is very knowledgable and sweet. I was greeted with a smile by a young lady as soon as I walked in the door. The other young lady I spoke to about snakes gave me so much information I believe when I finally decide which Python morph I would like… I will have the basic knowledge to properly care for my pet. Good job to the employees of Wet Pet and Reptile Center keep it up!

Great store! Everything you need for any reptile is here and the prices are great. I feel the staff are very friendly and definitely know pretty much everything about reptiles. Best place for crickets also, I get them here every time and they last forever. Big selection of all types of reptiles I would 100% recommend buying from them!

I came here to purchase frozen mice because my usual retailer had a recall, and my corn snake had just come out of the blue. A man approached me and asked if I needed any assistance. I asked if he carried frozen mice and where they were located. He told me it was from «a friend, a distributor in New Jersey» but he couldn’t tell me the name of the company and they were «in the back».
Something about that struck me odd, and I was hesitant to purchase what I’m assuming would be a loose assortment of whatever age of frozen mice I wanted. I decided to look around because a new tarantula had been in the back of my head, and i was curious to see their selection. That’s when it really went downhill.
Tarantula tanks looked way too humid. In fact I don’t remember seeing one temperature or humidity gauge in ANY of the reptilian, arthropod terrariums and there were at least 70 tanks in the store. The larger snakes were crammed in small tanks. Majority of the snakes had no enclosure to hide in, and water dishes that were way too small. I think I saw maybe 3 tanks that had appropriately sized water dishes. A snake needs to be able to fully submerge it’s body or it will have complications shedding. Ever snake owner knows that. Most tanks were littered with feces and skin. I saw mold growing in substrates.
The bearded dragons had sand as their substrate. This is extremely dangerous. I worked as a vet tech aide, and we always had huge problems with Bearded Dragons ingesting sand while they try to capture a moving bug. They aren’t terribly graceful. This can cause an intestinal blockage and can be fatal. Almost all reptile tanks had feces in their water dishes.
The small mammals section was just as appalling. The variety of small rodents had little to no shelter to hide in. Nothing to chew on other than food and each other, maybe a wheel. There were hamsters fighting fiercely probably due to over crowding with no place to hide. I saw one with scabs and wounds on it’s backside.
The larger mammals were two rabbits in a single cage with nothing to play with, or sleep in (I’m seeing a pattern here of no shelter). One adorable hairless Guinean pig. Some baby ferrets without formula, and one lonely depressed sugar glider.
I’m nearly in tears and about to walk out. The gentleman I spoke to earlier was sitting at the cash register. I decided to voice my concern and stress that these conditions were unsuitable. He responds with «Oh yeah?», and I mention the snakes and their water dishes, no place for animals to hide, and the sand in the bearded dragon tank. He responds with «Ok, well I’m going to have to ask you to leave.»
… Are you fucking kidding me?
I respond with, «absolutely» and walk out. As I had my back turned toward the door he belches «If you knew what you were talking about, I might take you seriously.»
My comments and tone were well civil. I didn’t raise my voice with other customers shopping around. I have 12+ years of experience healing, caring for, and collecting avian, reptilian, amphibian, small and large mammals, and aquatics.
To the owner, do you remember a small animal dump in Edgemere called «Tredway» that was notorious for animal abuse back in the day? That’s what your shit hole is about to turn into. I hope you’re proud of yourself.

Knowledgable staff and obvious reptile care experts!

The people were really nice and friendly but the selection (particularly of snakes) was not that great and the prices were really expensive for the species. The habitats also did not make any sense for the animal. The cages were glass and bright, but none of the Ball Pythons had any hides. The green tree python did not have a vine to curl abound and there was no cover. All the cages also look too humid for most of the species. I understand that it is a pet shop, not a zoo, but the habitats were really unacceptable. I did not buy an animal from this place, and I don’t think I ever will.

Best exotic pet shop in the Baltimore area. Very helpful and friendly. They have special ordered things in for me a few times too. Great place!

This place is fantastic! I would highly recommend that anyone with an exotic animal or even an interest in exotic animals check this place out! It’s rarely crowded in there and parking is free on the weekends right out front. Brian, the owner, is really nice and knows me by face. He hires knowledgable staff and knows quite a bit himself.
I bought a columbian boa from him, which was discounted because he bred it himself. She’s getting big and beautiful now and I love her to death! When I lived in Baltimore I got all of my reptile supplies from here! They have good prices on feeder rodents and a fantastic selection of reptiles! They recently remodelled and expanded the shop so it’s bigger with much more variety. They’ve expanded their repetoire, too, to include other exotic animals, like hedgehogs. Right now they have an albino hedgehog for sale, asking $ 199. They also have hedgehog food, which you can’t buy in Petsmart (at least I’ve never seen the stuff). I used to go down there and just wander around looking at all the snakes for awhile before finally getting my mice just because their selection is constantly changing and always exciting. They have a few resident animals, too, which are beautiful to look at.
I’d like to wrap up this review with even better evidence of the quality of this store. Now that I live in the Philly suburbs it’s hard to find a good exotic pet shop in my area, so every time I’m down in that direction I stop in and say hi. Just this weekend my bf and I drove the 2 hours each way just to go to this store. When I went to the MARS show at the state fairgrounds I had to take the almost-​hour-​with-​traffic detour to hit the place up before heading home. It is definitely worth the trip for the excellent service and selection!
