Removed Content: I can clearly see why the rating has 3stars. This taco shop shouldn’t even be open its disgusting!!! We ordered rolled tacos and the«TJ» carnitas tacos. Rolled tacos are soggy oily and gross. The carnitas tacos I wouldn’t even serve it to my dogs. The carnitas are super dry it’s clear they are old and they re heat them. The tortillas were more like soggy tostadas super hard dry but chewy like they have as well been sitting there for years. The«salsa bar» it’s filled of watered down tasteless salsa. I called and the same heavy set girl who helped us when we went to pick up the food said they have A rating with the health department lol she can’t be serious! I told her our food was gross and we paid for trash. She said«well the carnitas are dry but doesn’t mean you will get sick» so if they are aware of the dryness why sale them?! I advice her I’m going to call health services cause they shouldn’t even be open and she said that’s ok and to do her a favor and never come back. do you think I want to go back for nasty food?! This explains why there was not one soul in that place.

I ordered 5 shrimp tacos and a Cali burrito with chicken for $ 25. A bit on the pricier side for the value. The shrimp tacos were super difficult to eat. The corn tortillas were not toasted so they were falling apart everywhere. Ended up having to make it a shrimp taco salad by eating with a fork. The taste was okay, had pretty decent amount of shrimp in each taco, but something was definitely missing. The Cali burrito was too saucy(sour cream and guac) which made it taste mushy and greasy. And the salsas they offer taste too peppery without any other taste. The only one I liked was the mild Verde sauce. Unfortunately I don’t know if I’ll ever come back just because I wasn’t impressed and my stomach hurt immediately after eating.

For a small taqueria they have a big menu but my dish was lacking in flavor. The tacos needed salt and salsa. Two salt shakers for all the tables. The price was reasonable the workers seemed distracted and unfriendly. I won’t come again. Too many other places close by.

The rolled beef taco was so good! Loved that crunchy shell, and the beef filling was nice and substantial – not just ground meat. I got a chicken tostada too, which was also good – nice fresh lettuce and juicy pulled chicken. The rice and beans were just okay – a nice texture, but kind of bland. Next time I’m definitely going to just get the delicious main entrée and skip the ‘whole meal’ offer!

I decided to go here for Mexican because it was right on my way home and didn’t want to go out of my way for my other favorite place. So I stopped and I bought for my family. I bought rolled tacos, bean burritos x2 kids meal, and a quesadilla. I grabbed my things thinking that it was really fast service, lucky me! So I go home. I live up on the mountain quite a distance from town(Escondido). So I get home and start taking things out of the bag. I did not get my quesadilla at all. I was super disappointed in the rolled tacos. Don’t you hate when they over cook them and the meat in the taco turns incredibly hard? Well that’s what happened, I didn’t even eat them. Bean and cheese burritos were decent. The salsa was not the best. And I couldn’t help but think how fast I got my food, I mean it was too fast like they don’t even cook back there and everything is already ready to go. A $ 45 order should be done right and shouldn’t take 5 minutes or less to make. Wouldn’t go here again, sorry.

Food here is lacking. Order chicken tacos and they tasted fishy. Tried another time and it lacked as well. Service is ok but I drive a little farther for better Mexican food

I’ve been looking everywhere for great rolled tacos in this area and have found my new place! They were so crunchy and flavorful! I also really like guac recipe, they definitely squeeze some line in there, I love that! I was checking out the rest of the menu and its HUGE, they have a large variety of items. Next two things on my list to try are the Mole chicken and the Camarones(shrimp) big plate, you can get the shrimp made 1 of 8 different ways, Yum!

Last week was my first time going there with my mom and brother. We ordered Carne asada chips and my mom ordered a bean and cheese burrito. The chips and meat tasted like fish. I don’t know if they use the same oil to fry their fish and the chips. When we had noticed it, we were already too far to go back and exchange it. That would be my first and last time going to that place.

Ordered 3 rolled tacos and a beef taco. Beef taco was small but decently good. The rolled tacos were ok. They were actually flautas. Flavoring is different from the rolled tacos. Service was ok. Place could use a little TLC. I had trouble reading the menu as some items were crossed off. Maybe its time for a new board. There are better Mexican places in Escondido to eat at. If your nearby and do not want to drive far, this place is ok.

Unfriendly. Asked for water cup, guy said no water cups plus our water is down. 10minutes later he grabs a cup and refills it with water and begins to drink. Lame!

So I just went to this taco shop and ordered some carne asade fries, its late wanted to get home feed my 2 year old and call it a day. So I ask what comes on the fries, she says, pico, guacamole, sour cream and meat. I ask can I get my pico on the side bcuz my kid is allergic to tomatoes, she says ok. I get my order and go home. If course I did not check it like I should’ve. Not only was there pico all through it, there also was a big piece of soggy paper on my food and the guacamole was completely brown and I live about 7 minutes away. I do not recommend this place. They disregarded the fact that my child couldn’t have tomatoes in her food. And didn’t even inform me that there was tomatoes. I’m beyond pissed. I tried to call and no answer. The only reason there is one star on this post is bcuz Unilocal made me put it there.

This place sucks! Couldn’t get glass for water they make you u buy water then ask for glass with ice. Can’t get ice either. Ordered a taco with sour cream and didn’t get that either. When advised I didn’t get sour cream the cashier said it was extra which I would have paid had she said so in the beginning. No apology from her. Can’t enjoy a meal with water and ice here. Very poor service and I will never eat here again. They should focus on serving quality food and providing excellent customer service instead of small things like water and ice. The value of water and ice cannot compare to a loyal customer.@

Food is good. Prices are ok but a little on the high side. 3 stars for charging me a container fee when asking for them to put a topping that comes with a food dish on the side without telling me there was a container surcharge.

Did not like the food they served us. We were expecting something way better for being served at a restaurant/fast food. Worst clayuda i have tested. Cheese to dry, tomatoes green, small piece of avocado. First and last time here.

Was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had eating out. The food was some of the worst I’ve put in my mouth. The help wasn’t qualified to bus tables!!! She and the cook would rather talk to each other and laugh, than help me. And when she did she take my order, she got the order wrong, then refused to pay me back the difference .70 cents… saying it was my fault. STAYAWAY !!! I love small out of the way place, most of the time there a gem in the rough– but again stay away from this place.

The Al Pastor Burrito is delicious! The service is good and if you are looking for something relatively quick at a good price you can’t beat this place.

Got the fish burrito. Not the best I’ve had. The rice was crunchy. Parts of it were bitter and not very much fish. Way over priced for what I got. Sign on the pop machine says only one refill. Sign on the salsa bar tells you to only take what you will eat. No free chips. The owners are obviously more concerned about their bottom line then the quality of the food and the customer. A small drink from the fountain is like 16 oz for 1.99 and only one refill? Really? That products cost is like 3.5cents with out the cup. The burrito was 5.69 the whole meal came out to 8.65. Definitely not worth it. Will not be back.

Disappointed with the owner, very rude. I had a previous receipt of a simple special order burrito yet he wouldn’t honor it, charged me $ 3 more. Generally expensive menu.

I’m going with four stars for now with the option to upgrade to five in the near future. I remember coming to this location many years ago and paying high prices for below average food. It looks as if the ownership has changed though and now we have average prices for good food! I’m a big fan of the fish burrito, it’s really good, and look forward to trying other items on the menu.

This is my favorite taco shop. I generally either get the carne asada burrito or the carnitas plate. The green hot sauce is awesome.

Great so far! Seems like a pretty legit authentic Mexican food place, reasonable quality. 3.5+ stars. I ordered the California burrito with French Fries in it.(the normally use potato chunks in there, which I don’t care for). It was a HUGE burrito! I couldn’t even finish it. Contains: Guacamole, Sour Cream, Cilantro, shredded Mexican cheese(like the store bought kind), Carne asada. The most important parts(Fries &CA) were pretty good/tasty, and the tortilla was very good(tasty, but lightly crispy). Only a couple chewy pieces of CA in there. I wish the burrito was better mixed(every bite is different because the Sour Cream is all at one end of the burrito… and it’s so big that the meat bite is different than the guacamole bite. I like the horchata fountain(on a normal soda-fountain size dispenser). The salsa bar was ok. It’s nice that it’s organized by mild/hot salsas, but it was really nothing fancy and no other toppings there besides the salsa. There was a TV in the corner where the employee was watching True Lies(nice, but I’m sure not everyone would care to see it). I work nearby, so I’ll be back!

Sometimes it’s the service and sometimes it’s the food, but so often it’s a wee bit of both… I ordered a chili relleno and cheese enchilada combo plate. The goods were served on a real plate with flatware to my table. Initial observations had the plate kinda swimming in a red sauce. It turned out not to be all that bad but over afforded for the entrée. The chili relleno was«ok» to pretty good. It did take a bit assertion with the fork to get to a couple of the bites but I suspect the pepper itself was not roasted prior to being fried. It did fulfill the desire however. The beans and rice were also«ok» but the vegetables, noticeably the tomato, had a slight off-putting taste to them. So what’s the real problem? The enchilada. Again, I know. It was type of SoCal taco shop enchilada that I endeavor to avoid. Cheap shredded yellow and«barely there white» cheese that was nowhere near melted. You know the ones. Plenty of sauce, lettuce, cheese and maybe a dollop of sour cream, but not a dare of that delightful internal cheese drool. I only ate half of it. I was thinking that I had the opportunity to show the place what exactly could be the expectation of a cheese enchilada by virtue of handing it back to them. Unfortunately, that was another«mishap.» Upon my conspicuous plate return I mentioned to the young gal that the reason I didn’t finish the enchilada was the above. To my surprise(?) she simply stated«I’m sorry about that» and meekly handed the plate(and tortilla warmer that I had brought from the table) to the kitchen. I was somewhat astonished that she didn’t simply offer to have it remade, or offer a «next time you come in» extension. In thinking about it, I did sense that maybe she didn’t know how to field an infrequent discerning customer. I hesitantly turned about and left. «„But on a positive note,“» the salsa bar had a credible selection and the flour tortillas that came with the meal were fresh The dining area was clean. . It gets a Stacky«Meh. I’ve experienced better.™“with a(+)
