Super 8 Escondido

I’m staying at this hotel tonight and I wish more than anything that I wasn’t. I’m staying in my 2^nd room now and just like the first one, this one smells disgusting like years of cigarette smoking. All of the rooms on the north side of the hotel used to be smoking and all of the appliances and furniture in the rooms are still the same, and everything is stained yellow.
I travel a lot and always stay in hotels under $ 100 and this is one of the worst experiences. The smell is honestly suffocating. If it wasn’t Valentines day and everything else in this town was booked, I would absolutely not continue to stay here.

This Super 8 is not one of the best that we have stayed in. There was a very minimal breakfast available. There was cereal, toast, and waffels to eat. There was coffee and juice to drink. We have stayed at others that had packets of oatmeal, yogurt, and fresh fruit available. The cleaning staff would not give us the 3 towels that we requested each day. We should not have had to ask for extra towels every other day. There were three of us staying in the room for nearly two weeks. The room was cleaned properly every day. The little bottles of shampoo were dropped off every day so at the end we had over a dozen bottles laying around. Being in southern California, all the room enterances were outside. Unfortunatly since it was winter and cold in the morning this was a little rough. That last isn’t a complain, just an observation.
The hallways leading through to our room was not kept in a clean fashion all the time. There were a few ‘sticky’ spots that did not get cleaned up the entire time that we were there. The room to have breakfast in was in the lobby and there were only four tables and the tv in that room did not work.
The next time we stay in Escondido to see family, we would stay here again, but we would also bring our own foodstuffs for breakfast.
The water pressure was not very good at all in the shower. The wifi was problematic, we lost connection on a regular basis and it was not very strong.

Best reasonably priced place to sleep in Escondido. Police patrol and cameras in parking lot made it feel safe.
Pool is sweet.
The night staff was very nice. The day staff … maybe they were having a bad day.

Well let’s get this all clear for those who want a cheap hotel for a great price. The super 8 motel is the spot to go to! My lady and I checked in last weekend for a weekend special of $ 62 a night from Friday to Monday morning checkout. It was the cheapest rate we could find where others were priced at $ 80+! Tbh it was skeptical, we’ve stayed at cheap hotels and found let’s say not the most sanitary locations on the map, but this spot was great. Clean rooms, a bit mediocre furnishings but very doable. We had a clogged shower drain and called to have it fixed while we stepped out, upon return it was fixed. The one thing I disliked, and bare in mind we do this at all hotels for our own security of theft, we left our camera running and noticed the maintenance person returned to our room after he fixed the shower just to use our restroom. Disgusting. Nothing was stolen, but this was not acceptable. Our following check-​in was Monday through Friday, and again the rates were the best! $ 38 a night. Then lastly we decided another weekend should suffice. At even a better rate this time for $ 47 a night. Followed back up again for the week for 40/​night! I’d give this place a 4 ½ if it weren’t for the Maintenance using our restroom just to piss. Idiot.

After reading the reviews. it was half and half. should I stay here, or should I pay more elsewhere? Was not sure. but we stayed here, and really loved it. No problems. room clean. beds fresh, great pool and hot tub, breakfast was nice. simple but nice. No noise, no bugs, no mess… just nothing but good things to say.
Everyone makes mistakes, and if some folks had an issue here and there. well it happens.
I was in the hospitality industry for 20 years, and this place passes the test.

We stayed here for a small family reunion. The rooms were, for lack of a better word, mediocre. Beds weren’t very comfortable, but the lack of pillows was actually the thing that confused us the most about the beds. They put three pillows that are about the size of throw pillows on each bed. Very strange, out of place, and uncomfortable to sleep on. Upon entering the room, we realized our door hard a hard time opening and closing; perhaps not properly aligned or something. A/​C worked in our room, which is good, but it really only had two settings: off or freezer.
The «breakfast» is raisin bran, coffee, and toast; not too terrible considering it’s a cheap motel, but our kids turned their noses to it. Oh, they did have a mini waffle maker out, but we were told that they weren’t very good. We decided to skip it all together and eat out.
The elevator was pretty funky smelling. My husband and I were trying to put our finger on what it smelled like and my daughter described it perfect. Pee. It was as if someone peed all over the inside of the elevator and maintenance tried to drown it in cheap air freshener. It also was really creaky and it scared our youngest daughter so we took to the stairs regularly.
They have a pool and a spa with robotic chairs to help the elderly/​handicapped get in. An interesting feature.
I’m not sure how the rest of my family’s experiences went. It worked for a cheap place for us to stay while we were out of town, but we probably won’t go back. Nothing about the place really stood out to us that was awesome. I guess it was what you’d expect from a cheap motel.

My addendum to my experience here at Super 8 Escondido… I wish I could say upon checkout I got a decent apology at least but instead I was told by the main manager that due to my posting on social media «tied her hands» and made her unable to rectify the situation or do anything to make it right. Apparently picking up the phone was too difficult once I the down the gauntlet and expressed my dissatisfaction once the night manager told me my problem wasn’t his problem. Don’t stay here people, it’s a security nightmare and the service is abominable. Wish I could wrote something about an effort to make it right, but no such luck.

Stayed 3 nights, 1 king, non smoking, 2^nd floor. It is not a 4 hotel, but it rates 4 stars in consideration of what you get for the price point. WiFi worked majority of the time, although we were unable to connect consistantly later in the evening. We had AC running majority of the time which blocked majority of the noise, however, when it was off, noise within the hotel was evident throughout the earlier evening hours. The doors do not have a spring to automatically close behind you, which you must be sure to pull the door hard so it latches locked. Room includes lg refrigerator, small microwave, 1 table with 2 chairs, desk, few drawers and an addil built in desk. Bathroom is large with hotwater. Pool is clean including hottub, although we had 2 wait for a somebody to unlock access to it one afternoon (open 9a-​10p) even though it was about noon. I requested addil. towels which we received (room comes with 2 shower sized towels, 1 wash, 2 hand). Had to go to lobby for an iron and board which was requested to be returned when done. Hairdryer is standard in bathroom but only 1 setting worked (low) so was of no use. Did not take advantage of the free breakfast since the area was shared with the lobby which was small, and looked to only serve cereal and juice. Housekeeper interrupted our 2^nd day b/​c she had mistaken our check out date. We only met with one gentleman working at lobby, who was friendly. Location is perfect. A 5 min. drive to a strip mall (attached to a target), surrounded by many restaurants, across the street from a convenience store, right off the expressway.

This hotel is ok for the price. If you are looking for a place to sleep that is central this is it. The breakfast area is so small — only seats 16 people. You have a choice of waffle, toast or cereal. That is it. There is one waffle maker for the whole place. Most of the hotel staff cannot communicate if your only known language is English. Beds were comfortable. Close to restaurants and stores. Wifi not good at all. 2 out of 3 nights and it’s not working again.

The room was clean and surprisingly the beds were very comfortable. Hotel stay includes mini breakfast 6−9am of cereal, toast, waffles, juice and coffee. There is a 7 – 11 across the street other than that not much else in area. Though the outside doesn’t look like much its not to bad for short stay plus its close to safari park.

Just left this motel. Not even being checked in longer than 30 minutes, we find at least 5 cockroaches in our room. Two the size of half my pinky in the bathroom. They crawled into the cracks under the sink. And little baby crawling up the walls. Gross. Not to mention two different breeds of the bug… EW. When calling down to front desk there was a big one on the night stand. When we talked to the owner he said it wasn’t his fault… But yet you manage and run the property, right? Isn’t it your responsibility, At least to maintain a clean environment for your guest ??? Hmm. Never again.

Great service at an excellent price! The room was a lot nicer than I expected compared to other places that have comparable rates. They offered lots of channels on the TV (no guide, but no matter), a microwave, and fridge. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t extravagant, but it was just enough for me: waffles (you make them yourself), toast, cereal, different juices, coffee/​tea, and some wrapped pastries. Everyone was nice, and the neighborhood was pretty quiet. A good deal!

The Casino Were Almost $ 500.00 For The 2 Nights. After Checking Other
Casinos In The Area, Their Rates Were About The Same. I Decided To
Check In Escondido (Only 12 Miles From The Harrah’s Rincon). I Discovered
The Super 8 In Escondido Which Had Been Recently Remodeled, Provided A
In Room Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee Maker And Free WIFI. They Also
Provide A Free Continental Breakfast In The Morning. The Price Was Only
” ¼ Of What The Casinos Were Asking” !!! The Room Was Very Nice, Very
Clean And The Super 8 Staff Was «Awesome» !!! We Will Definitely Be Back

This place sucks it’s so dirty and so expensive !!!
They had roaches the size of my hand in the bathroom it was so nasty never going again!

I was expecting worse, so it was pretty good. One of the cheapest I could find in the area.

PROS: Large room with refrigerator and microwave, moderately comfortable bed, plenty of hot water in the shower, ac worked
CONS: noisy location, Free WiFi was hit & miss.

I stayed here one night. It was not a pleasant stay. The room cost an outlandish $ 92.00 per night. The internet was poor and the air conditioner took forever to get going. The breakfast was putrid. I was constantly afraid of being robbed. Give this one a miss!

No frills great room. The bed was comfy room was clean and smelled good. The bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Spotty wifi, but passable for not-​frequent users.
The staff is nice.
Room seems clean enough.
Old TV, but works fine.
Provides with only shampoo and no conditioner or lotion.
Breakfast available, but a bit of a sad breakfast.
There’s sitting area at the check in lobby (Office?).
Two types of Cereals — raisin bran and frosted wheat (I think that’s what they’re called).
Milk Provided
Coffee and juice.
Waffle batter and waffle iron. Makes decent waffles.
With some toast and a toaster. Grape Jam and butter.
Enough to make one full of course, but not as satisfying.
Sign says newly renovated, but the elevator seems very fragile. It makes a weird sound every time it’s going up and down.

PROS: Large, over-​sized room with refrigerator and microwave, moderately comfortable beds, plenty of hot water in the shower
CONS: Noisy A/​C, not enough towels for all room occupants, limited «free» breakfast, noisy location, Free WiFi was hit & miss.
We stayed here one night and I am glad it was only one! We had trouble sleeping due to the really noisy A/​C unit, and were awoken at 4 a.m. because the people in the room above us were jumping up an down and making all kinds of racket (not the hotel’s fault, I know). We requested a room with two double beds, but there were only enough towels for two people. I asked for more, but was told there were no more available until after 10 a.m. the next morning once the laundry had been done. When we went down to check out the free breakfast the next morning, we found do-​it-​yourself waffles, a choice of two cereals, mini-​muffins, empty coffee pots and a broken juice machine. We ended up checking out early and finding breakfast elsewhere.
Considering what we paid for the room that one night, I can honestly say that we have stayed in nicer hotels for much less.
