Seventh-Day Adventist Churches

Hi I’ve attended this church for the last 30+ years. I was raised in the Ramona SDA church back in the 70’s. This church is very diverse. Yes there are cliches, it used to bother me a lot. But then I had to think why am I upset I haven’t really reached out to anyone. I expected for them to reach out to me and automatically pull me in. Everyone at this church is very nice. I don’t know some of the younger families now, because my kids are older. But then again I haven’t reached out to them like I SHOULD.
My point is please do not judge us by one visit. We are a friendly church. Just reach out and we will welcome you with open arms.

I was raised a Seventh-​day Adventist in a very small rural church in the Midwest. I have belonged to several SDA churches around the US and there is definitely a difference depending on the location, mainly in worship styles. I am sad to hear that someone felt it is cliquish. I found when I first started going there, that people spoke and smiled, but the sheer number of worshippers means that some might feel that way. I decided to become a friend seeker and I’m happy to report that I have been accepted and included in many different demographic groups in the church! The music is wonderful and the staff are Godly people trying to teach people the things that Jesus taught. There are Bible study classes for every age group, and there are opportunities for social interaction over coffee and donuts between services. I went to EAA school from K-​8^th grade and attended this church but at the original location. I am sad to report that this church is clickish and it’s because of the school. Nobody will go out if their way to welcome you. That was one of the reasons I have left. However, I found a really great church that makes you feel welcomed. Looking for a friendly truth seeking, Bible practicing church family? I would recommend Valley Center SDA.
I went to a memorial service at the new location and the building is very nice. But it shouldn’t be about the outside. It needs to be about the message.

I work in the buisness downstairs and I work very often around the staff of the SDA church and they are all very wonderful and they do an amazing job on the upkeep of the facility and keep it beautiful.

Let me start by saying I was raised SDA and I went to an SDA College for 4 years. However, I am not SDA but have been to enough of their churches in my lifetime to know which are REALLY bad.
I went to this church because as a hardcore Green Bay Packers fan, I was feeling a bit scared in the last few minutes of the Super Bowl. I prayed to God before the entire room and promised Him that if He gave me a Packers win, that I would go to church with my brother and his wife (Adventists). So there you have it.
I will start by stating the positives, followed by the negatives.
I went in looking for positive things right off the bat. The church building itself appeared to be a new construction. it was tastefully designed with a nice modern ceiling that reminded me of the Death Star in Star Wars, which was awesome. The seats were comfortable and each seat had a footrest. The air conditioning was AMAZING. It almost made me forget about hell. Oh, and there was no kneeling. Score! The bathroom was nice, they used some nice tiles and modern fixtures that would best be seen in the Manhattan apartment of a homosexual couple. I was impressed.
Now for the negatives. There was no organ. This means no traditional hymns. This means ASSY praise music. That’s right. Some douchebag got up on the platform with his guitar and had a little douche friend on bass and drums and they sang songs with the «lyrics» displayed on a screen behind them. You know… songs that a retarded 8 year old could have scribbled on his napkin, such as «oh Jesus you fill me with hope, your name is the light that feeds my soul» etc. Even my brother, who has a stiff one for praising Jesus, even hates the music at this place and we both read our books while the others acted like fools. I think my brother’s wife pretended to like it. She just sat there with a smile.
Oh, and little children collect the offering. Obviously, they use children to play the «cute card» and prey (not pray) on the congregations sympathies to pay out more money in offering. I am not joking, but I watched my brother’s wife give out 5 bucks to 5 different kids! That $ 5 could have been spent on buying me a latte! That they have multiple children go to the same isles of pews just goes to show that it is a strategy to rake in the bucks, and the congregation is too stupid or blinded by the praise music to see what is really going on. If Jesus were here he would have ran into the church with a whip and chased the greedy puppet-​masters right on out the door!
The minister was about as interesting as a dirty diaper on the side of a road. All he did was read bullet points off a power point presentation, and then he kept apologizing for the time he spend in showing each slide. He was not only dull, but had low self esteem that surely made Jesus frown. There was no original thought or any creativity in his sermon. I mean… Jesus…
Nobody spoke to me. I was dressed nicely. I mean, I had foundation on, my hair styled, a button up shirt, and nice dress trousers form American Eagle and some dressy Aldo shoes. I even had my Diesel watch on. I really looked decent! I didn’t smell bad either. I showered and washed my hair that morning. Yet none of the Sevvies spoke to me. Boo!
If they had some quality music and a minister with a real education and someone who knows how to deliver a sermon and not be a game show host, this place would have been alright. But instead it just reminded me why I hate SDA churches so much.
Okay, so this conclusion has NOTHING to do with my review, but did anyone else out there think that the chief of police’s wife in the movie ‘Jaws’ was sexy? I do.
