Robert John Productions

I have been to many parties hosted by Robert John Productions and have referred them to family and friends multiple times. I have never heard of anyone who has been anything but absolutely thrilled with his work and how his services have made their parties incredible. I have also had personal experience with people who have worked with the company. I have known many of his party pumpers and assistants over the years and have never heard of any situation similar to the one expressed in the negative Unilocal review I just read. It seems to me that Andrew M has his own personal vendetta. I am familiar with this situation and have heard drastically different details than the one that was posted on this page. I view the negative review as a one sided attempt to air a personal grievance that clearly is only one side of a story. In all of my business dealings and observations of this company they have been nothing but honorable and do incredible work that creates fun and memorable experiences for anyone lucky enough to attend their events.

Robert John Productions, or RJP has been an extremely well known Disc Jockey and Entertainment company here in San Diego for over 25 years. Catering primarily to weddings, mitzvahs and school events, RJP has a long established reputation in town for its services, heck, they even did my Bar Mitzvah back in the day. I have had a very long personal and professional relationship with the company and have worked very closely with them for the last 6 or 7 years now. RJP is responsible for much of my training in the industry for which I am very grateful. Recent events have also taught me a lot about what I shouldn’t do in my business also. Back in 2009, the business started to have financial problems beginning with several paychecks coming months after they were due and once I finally received them, they all bounced.
That should have been the red flag for me to disassociate myself with the company, but because of my loyalty and personal connection with the business, I hung in there for the long run in hopes my experience was just a mistake and a bump in the road while times were tough. I continued doing gigs for them in the next year to come and eventually the paychecks didn’t come at all. I begged and pleaded with them to pay me and make things whole before I had to take drastic measures and they blew me off every time by not sending me payments, promising payments and never following through as well as coming up with excuse after excuse for not paying me. Mind you, they had already been paid in full by the clients for the gigs I had done for them yet I never saw a penny. They even rented equipment from me to go out and do more shows which I never received payment for the rentals.
As much as it broke my heart, I was forced to take RJP to small claims court back in October 2010 which the case was continued twice due to non attendance from RJP. On the third and final court date I won a small claims judgment to collect for the money owed to me. Subsequently, I was unsuccessful in collecting on the small claims judgment after months of attempts to collect with bank levies, wage garnishments etc. with no luck. On February 26, 2011 Robert John productions declared bankruptcy which absolves them of any debts obtained prior to the bankruptcy leaving me with over $ 3,000 owed to me that I will never be able to collect on. These people made money on me, stole from me in a sense as I was not paid for my work and they were.
RJP has a cleanly wiped slate, has changed their name to «Mr Disc Jockey» with a new website and a new fresh start since the bankruptcy and is able to continue to make money from here forward while I get completely screwed over with the money that was owed to me.
Where is the justice in that?
